I think Aion is great game, polished, enjoyable and ready for release. Like anything good, there are things that can be improved upon. My 2 biggest complaints are:

1) Gamegaurd - Too many conflicts with software and it's effecting alot of people trying to play the game. I think it's more hassle than it's worth and we would be better off without it. It's also very easy for hackers to bypass, although i would prefer some protection over nothing, i don't think a program like GG is the answer.

2) Only US East Coast Servers - NCSoft stating that all US based servers will be only in East Coast was very puzzling indeed. This causes alot routing problems that the western + oceanic audience will experience due to additional hops. A PvP game with lag?  no thanks. L2 even has a datacentre in the West Cost, which is a far less popular game, so not have one for Aion screams of poor management more than anything else.

NcSoft have stated they will monitor these issues closely and may correct them in the future, hopefully they react quickly enough.

Completely agree.... Now if only L2 would die completely so we could use those servers :P. Or maybe they can just remove L2 from those servers and move them all to East Coast and give us East Coast/West Coast servers :P

GameGuard needs to go.  It's terrible software and way too in the face of legit players.  Good GM's and a live team would do much better than that bloated pos.

Wont argue the gamegaurd point. I hate it with a passion.

However, server location if the network code is good, can be meaningless. Look at Eve, Its a pure pvp game based over seas and it plays perfectly fine from the US. So I think if they have spent a good amount of time on their networking code, the servers being on the east coast should not be an issue.

 they can get everything fairly cheap in east(electricity)

Neither of those make my "not buying Aion list".  No PvE only servers does though.  Not getting into OB not helping any either ;)

Not sure how PvP works in EvE but in Aion lag makes it difficult to play a melee character, since your always out of range. Which is why im rolling a ranger ..

Well to answer that one quickly, Aion wouldnt be Aion if there where PvE only servers, the way the whole system is set up you need to engage somewhat in PvP at one point or another, thats just the way the game is composed, so if that dosnt suit your play style, Aion is not the game for you. This has nothing to do with being a carebear or any other derogative term that some 12 year old has come up with in a drunken haze, its a simple fact, Aion is a game based around PvP and PvE with the 2 interlocking in such a way its almost impossible to do one without the other  :)

I aggree, I do not think its the Gamemasters place to decide on your network security, it's almost arrogant of them to Assume that role.   I think they must allow aVast / AVG and other applications to take care of that [i used those samples to get sum more reaction - please DONT go there] All of these cover the p2p as wqell as internet connection stuff fairly well.  Most games never assume that role with no issues

NCSoft, this message to get rid of GG is probably the best thing to do - your work is to make the game function properly let the IT look after its own.

Eve has servers in the us btw. Game guard is a total you know what and needs to actually be forced to have atleast a uninstall if sold in western markets it's nothing short of annoying.

aion beta is currently fubared up using excused like personal pc's, us backbones yeha ok.

Now you mean to tell me this game played by how many people in the asian markets cannot be semi stable in beta form in the us? I am sick of hearing the excuse oh it's open beta so many hits.......well don't sell a product you cannot support.

Not to mention it's full of childish whine already and in beta. ( joy )

I agree although for example in WoW that nonsense is limited to trade chat in cities, not region-wide.  You could always turn it off though.

No the same cant be said for WoW, The PvE and PvP in wow dont interact, there are no real influences carried over from one aspect to another, There is in Aion, pvp cant be done to the full extend without pve and visa versa, in WoW its 2 completly seperate objectives that has no real influence on eachother.

Hit the nail on the head!

GG slows down your system it`s too obvious.

It takes forever for the game to launch, never seen anything like it.

That shity software really needs to go.

The slow startup is the only noticable thing for me so far so it`s not a gamebreaker , but if I had any kind of problem with runing the game because of GG I would drop AION like a bad habit.
