I enjoy the game and I will play it on release, but I feel I should defend the "trolls" a little. This is not really an open beta, as it is neither really open nor really a beta. If by "open" one means that people pay to get an invite, then it is open. If by "beta-testing" one means running software that is basically a port of an existing game to paying players in a new market, then I guess it is beta. This is a problem arising from the crazy way that MMORPGs are marketed today. Access to beta-testing has become something that companies actually sell as a premium. The customers oddly expect something playable in return, and get frustrated over little things like being unable to download, install, log into the game, etc. When numerous people complain that they cannot perform the most basic functions of an online gaming service (installation, logging in, freezing in lagstorms, etc.) two weeks before launch of a major game, it is not a positive sign. Oh, btw, the reason that I am here is that the Aion login servers seem to be down again. I intend to play this sucker and play it hard once it has released (I have been in previous betas) but I understand why people might not be encouraged. |

OP i have no sympathy for you at all and am glad your dumb*** is leaving my community! I hope the community in this game does not end up as bad as the one in WoW and with you leaving it just brings my hopes that much closer to coming true! If you fail to understand that Beta is game testing and not a free trial you fail at all MMO's and life.

Personally I think Aion, rocks the only problem I had with the game at the time was that you couldn't lock your skill bar, but now that you can my complaints are over. |

China?!?! Are you kidding? I tell you what, Commrad. Why don't you just worry about all those civilians you killed in Tiananmen Square and leave freedom of speech to Americans. Bottom line is, NCsoft screwed the pooch with Open Beta. Beta boards are stating that 90% in NA cant log on or is unplayable. This is NOT success. Comrade, if it's true they screwed the pooch, they must be reported to peta-beta (or is is beta-peta?) immediately! |

I'm very disapointed that there have been network issues and lag this weekend. But after playing in the last couple closed beta's with perfect performance, I'm confident that they will resolve these issues in a couple of days. |

I'm shocked at the lag / server being down issues happening now. I played through 2 different CB events as I bought the collector's edition after a friend highly recommended the game to me. During my time CB I had nothing to complain about it was extremely well polished and completely bug free as well as the servers were stable. NCsoft has the advantage of this game being out in Asia for a year and it really shows as we are being offered a *finished* mmorpg game. All the gripes that us NA gamers have had with MMOs launches won't be there at the launch for Aion except for balancing which I've read a few Korean players posts a month or so about them on this forum and actually decided on on what classes I'm rolling because of their comments (btw thanks for the headsup !) Then again even WoW still has balancing issues so they really doesn't bother me. - New instances I don't see a single thing to complain about at all as all I see is positives with Aion and I plan on it keeping me busy until SW:TOR comes out. |

Im playing on the European servers, and we have had the same downtime, lag, GG issues etc as the US. As this is infact on Open Beta i can live with this issues as it is what it is, apart from that i am really enjoying the game and find it very immersive so far. Sorry the OP had such a bad experience, maybe wait a few weeks until after release for the main issues to be ironed out and have another go, if not theres loads more mmo's to have a go at.

As Aion is not reinventing the wheel, however, they have quite a few innovations that are new to the genre, and some of the innovations are only innovations because of the way that they are put in along with other features. You where looking for innovative? Well here is aion. Nothing completely new, but everything done better and in ways that no other mmo has done it before with this kind of blend. Go look up the word innovative. You will find it is quite different then "Invent". The prime difference is that in order to innovate, you can use previously existing products and make them better. Wheres to invent, it is entirely your own. GL getting a mmo that invented everything from the rings of jupiter. Oh wait, that wouldn't be new either, the space genre/planets are all recycled ideas. Word to the wise, aion is reaking of innovations.

I'm not an NCsoft hater. I've enjoyed CoH/CoV for years. I played it in the pre-release beta, and while there were some teeny bugs here and there, it wasn't a lagfest like Aion has been yesterday/today. I want very much for this to be resolved and Aion to do well, because I think it has a lot of potential. But all the Aion fanboys who want to sit around blaming people's computers and blaming people's ISPs are so full of crap. The issues aren't with my system or my ISP. I guarantee you that. I bought Aion pre-order, so I'm hoping for the best. STOP trying to take the blame off of NC though. You're wrong. edit: I don't mean you specifically Morgaren, I mean the people who are trying to blame everyone BUT NCsoft... |

Yep it is def NCsofts problem, so I am leaving them to fix it. They have a couple weeks to sort it out anyhow. Good thing this isn't a release right? I think people should pipe down a little with the nerdrage though. I can understand critisism, but some of the stuff people are saying is going way to far for a in-beta issue. Naysayers can look no further than Ayase's twitter page where he mentions the mass lag is priority to be resolved.

Aion OBT. We found errors and issues with launching the game, which are mostly resolved. We stress test the servers and now NCsoft knows what to expect on launch. Routing issue from ISP side that have been resolved, and might still being resolved for some.
I don't know what the OP is talking about, this OBT did everything it is suppose to do. If someone believe CBT and OBT are simply pre-views, trailer, or a demo to the game. They should stay away from MMORPG, or even games all together. I seen much much worse, and that is on launch. This is only OBT. I give the OP a rating of 2 trolls down.
Edit: Responding to some previous repliers. Some of your issues that you do not believe to be ISP related, actually is if you are experiencing lag, rubberbanding, and disconnects in the game. If you are experiecing login issues with User name password, that is something either NCsoft side or your error. If you expereienced false-error reports from Gameguard, there are alot of solutions to teach you how to patch it on Aionsource already. People with actual software conflict with Gameguard are actually a minority, most of it was a patching issue, and GG simply gave out a warning. People with extra firewall softwares (god knows why they need them) are the ones suffering from the conflict for the most part. |

First, Aion is a live game and one touted as pretty polished so having massive network troubles during a new market open beta is pretty lame. second, GameGuard is a known POS and, arguably, a rootkit so they get no waivers there.
That being said, it is unfair to pan the game based on the first day or two of OB, for a game that is essentially live or one just approaching live. However, if NCsoft doesn't do some serious work in a very short amount of time to correct these issues then the game will deserve some serious criticism. -------------------------------- |
