A better question is why not? One of the things that drew me to Guild Wars was the instanced play cause it reduced looting and kill stealing. Thing is though, gets pretty lonely out there when you are just by yourself with heros and henchies, and unless you are in a guild it sometimes is hard to get parties going outside of missions. With them already confirming instanced dungeons and missions, it will be interesting to see an open world in Guild Wars and what affect it will have on the gameplay, but I think it will be positive |

If the world is instance based and i do not see anyone out side of cities i just wont play. The game drove me away for that reason. Hope they try something new in GW2 and let us see other people more often. |

dont know but i can think of lot of reason ,might be now they got the technology to see the total sum of their original idea made in full. theres lot to do i a open world in vanilla wow there were lot of pvp area for lvl 55-60 probably not same model because areanet way of doing pvp is very adictive add to that probably lot of other stuff we can dream about ,arenanet is one of the few company that came out of nowhere and is very successfull with an never seen before business model |

It will be open world for people to walk and kill stuff, but for missions, quests, etc it will be still in instances like in original GW.

i like the instance because: no KS, no beggars and annoying people... however, open world is more fun and the players will bring life into the game. in GW, i often feel like the game is too "empty" when i'm killing stuff. also, it will be easier to find friends / parties. AND if you have cool stuff, you have more chance to showoff, lol =P |

To me it seems a bit of bad business to move from a proven model to a new model... but I suppose it is their game to do as they wish. |

Instanced world was one of the weakest aspects of the original GW, that's why they're making GW2 a whole new game, a true MMO.

Used to play Deicide, but one of my pet peeves was KSing and looting. While ANet will have something in place for the looting (they already have a 10 min lock even though it is instanced) I hope they have something to prevent KSing |

I for one am happy a company does not reuse a concept they have used before and try something different. If they wanted GW2 to be the same as GW1 then they would have made an other expension instead! |

How do you mean? From the business side of things I dont think anything has changed. The will probably be releasing expansions more than stand-alone campaigns, though with the introduction of Cantha and Elona and whatever else to the GW2 world they might do that to get the ball rolling. Certainly I believe there will be more frequent expansions than what there are with WoW As for the game, I will say there needed to be that improvement. Changing models here is half about implementing stuff that they wanted to do, half about retaining their fan base and expanding on it. They changed a few of things with EotN from previous games (res shrines during missions for example) but without drastic changes like this, I feel that Utopia, or the following unconcieved campaign, would have met an evolutionary dead end for GW, with the possibility of losing players to other games cause of it. Hell, I have seen now others go off to other games in the +2 year wait between EotN and GW2, which should hopefully return with its release, but if they were to follow the same track I just wonder how many would have stayed, or just checked out the latest campaing only to go back to playing WoW or whatever new game comes out |

Guild Wars 2 may be open world, but don't forget missions and certain events are still going to be instanced, so you don't have much to worry, you get half of what the original has in a way. To me, the game being open world is exciting and I wonder what more they can do to the world of Tyria. What more they could add to missions?! I'm looking forward to what they do with them! Those cinematics are probably going to look terrific too! |

Im looking forward to GW2 big time. From what I've read it's gonna be great. I so loved playing the first, and still do now, and again, but I miss many of the friend's I made in various guilds over the years they have gone onto other games, so I hope that this will bring a lot of the old players back. |

I like to play open world MMO's... because they are MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE whatevers. Main reason to play is to interact with people, might as well as play a stand alone game if you want instanced zones. |

I love guild wars but Open world is the way to go, much more interaction, you hate the fag that took your monster but if he wasn't there to be hated it would be boring. + World PvP is the best. |

GW 2 is going to be the game of the century, I am assured of this, the game will be the game of the century, the next level of integrity, where gamplay matters, not money, blizzard's origional developers are with Arenanet, your favorite games, Classic WoW, BC, Diablo 2 Diablo 1, warcraft, starcraft, those developers are in arenanet, you can't expect anything less from them, blizzard lost its integrity and became weakly humans, greed strucken, lazy, unintelligent, they've lost it, the game's history keeps alot of people in and its subscription fees, but guildwars has none, so why are they working on it? to make the best game in the world? people who are this dedicated and good will get what they want. |

Many people were turned off my the instances and also low level cap. Guild Wars 2 will fix both so they can open the door to more players. It is going to be a great game. :) |

Sadly Guild Wars as we all knew it is going to die with Gild Wars 2. GW is unique game, GW2 will try to be comercial one. |
