I sorta like the game myself but not enough to buy it. It just seems lacking in certain areas. When I heard they were gonna have public quests in it like Warhammer I thought it would be realized at least in the same fassion. The failure of WAR was that the whole of the gaming comunity wasn't able to play together, and in WAR the PQ's suffered because of that. You could say the world was too big. In CO they just don't have enough PQ's and to me it just didn't seem biig enough. For those folks that didn't play WAR, PQ's literally were all over the place. Sweeping from the common flat lands to the hils and on into caves, there were even PvP based PQ's. Basically at any level range you were at there were 3 areas you could go quest in with at least 3-5 PQ's surrounding anywhere you were at. I figured this would be a BOON in story telling for CO. I imagined this bad dude over here got his little story that dude over there got his and so on and so on. I sorta expected The city and rural areas of CO to be littered with little PQ stories. It though, wasn't fully realized.
PvP was fun I felt but I also made sure my toons had all the critical skills for survival, Example if I had a melee spec he had abilities that turned off travel powers and also regen or invul. If they didnt have defenses I used the travel powers that get you out of trouble, tunneling or teleport. This though I feel is where the game sorta was bad show for some. Those no inclinded to read the descriptions of the powers and just hogpogged their heros together when entering PvP. They get destroyed and that made some bad karma for the game. They still really need a little more focus in the balance area(not nerfs). I sorta felt that all the power frameworks should have everything you need to have a mostly complete character that can cover 2-3 build types. Example there are no heals/support/dps powers in the MIGHT framework, I envisioned them having more choices in a single framework like I always wondered how we would make heroes that could fill other roles yet seem to function to whatever framework they belonged to. An example I guess of what I was thinking it would be like was might would have a yell or battlecry to buff teamates, or like passive auras to regen teamates health that would function differently than how a heal or buff would work from another framework. Now I undestand that seeing how we can draw from other power FW you could pick and choose what you like, I just thought there would be more choices.
With all that said CO is still a fun game, especially for newcomers and casuals. I just thought CO being basically developed at the time it was, with so much other good things to draw from other MMO's that it would be better realized than it actually was. I myself loved PUBLIC QUESTS in Warhammer Online. They were everywhere in WAR. They also gave reason/life to the mobs in the game. There wasn't alot of areas where mobs were just standing around waiting to be killed. They mostly where in PQ's and the mobs that weren't in PQ's were mostly odd and end wildlife. Every area had a little story to be told and I thought with this being a hero game a PQ system like war would rock. The game community all being able to play together would have avoided the failure of WAR. When Jack Emmert said they where gonna have PQ's in an interview I saw him in. I was so happy. How they went live though with what they did. It just pales in compairison to WAR and its a shame too cause CO will not suffer from population probelms of WAR.
Shame too I was hoping CO would come through for me. It was just lacking for me. I still may get it down the road after I tryout Jumpate and some other MMO's. Right now I just can't commit. Have fun you all that like the game, it really isn't that bad. I think over time it has potential to get better for sure. Oh, and sorry for the novel. Lol... |

It's pretty fun for me. Quests actually have something to do with a story, and not just random things such as CoX. It could be thing where, if you're not into the whole super hero cheesey action setting, then you might not like the game in general. But I can dig it.
Groovy. |

To the OP if you played CoH, then what you are really feeling is most likely that "I've done this before." It plays a lot and I mean a lot like CoH, with just some minor improvements here and there. It's like playing the game Cryptic should have made with CoH. CoH is still more fun in my opinion, but that is just my opinion. ![]() |

The quests are all very static, same places each time, same objective each time, low replay value. 4. Standard WoW type quests. Fed ex quests, go here kill x, go here retrieve x for me, and escort missions. 5. I tried 3 or 4 power sets, all very similar. 1. build up power, 2. some kind of nuke, 3. an AoE. 6. combat, combat, combat gets boring after a while. But there is no engaging plot lines for quests like City of Heroe. Sure the quests where fun to read, usually done with humor, I never got into them as much as City's, felt like I was saving something (or someone).

That's how i feel about the game right now. If it was free to play i would spend 50$ on it but paying a monthly fee for CO is a no no.

I doubt ill play past the free month aswell, there seems to be no replay value after you make your main toon. They really dropped the ball with having villians as another faction, it would atleast act as cool dviersion with world PvP happening. But as is the game doesnt hold much longevity. I ran into that brick wall after the 3rd char I made. Kept making new chars cause it was so much fun, wasn't actually logging in with them. That was a big signal to me that the game wasn't for me. Bored in OB. Not a good sign. |

As long as you play this game Casual its awesome but if you start playing it hardcore like alot of other mmo's yeah sure i can see you getting tired of it. Mortal Online/EarthRise/Project V13 |

More content in a game that doesn't excite me rarely helps. I wasn't playing hardcore. I merely couldn't work up the interest to play the opening tutorial more than 3 times. Maybe they'll have an option to skip it in the future? Plus I'm also more of a sandbox player. Prefer mmo's that have a story, but are not story driven. Want freedom. Not trashing, just my preferences. I'll give it another look if they offer a free trial a couple of months down the road. I'd pay 5 bucks for a standalone char creation app though :)

And this is just the first few days. It doesn't have quite the same replayability factor that CoX does, especially considering how the crowd would love to roll alts. It's unfortunate. I got somemore play time and I want to like the game BUT it just doesn't draw me in. It's not exactly boring its just not compelling. I'm not excited to ge the next set of powers. The gear rewards are uninteresting. The missions not that inspiring. Its not bad it's just not my game I guess. Asheron's Call, Champions Online, Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, EverQuest, Lineage 2, Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft.Waiting for SWTOR |

<p>They said they are working on a way to skip the Totorial. They also know they are low on content and are working on it. They have added more quest with 2 patches so far, but one of those just went into test. I am finind it quite fun my self, but I am simi casual so that could be a factor as others have said.</p> |

Whatever you might think of the game, pro or con, in my opinion it does not bode well that they lowered the price $10.00 after the first month. Bad sign indeed... |

So yeah, I tried it...hoping this may be a good change of pace from the norm. I think the character creation was well done...that's about it. The game wasn't buggie, or "wrong" persay. It just doesn't hold my interest. The fight mechanics seemed sluggish and badly planned, and the story, if you can call it that, just wasn't interesting. Oh well, it was a waste of money for me...maybe my 8 year old will like it! I guess super hero MMOs, much like sci-fi MMOs, are just to hard to make a good one. |
