The last post sums it up, the next chance of something worth playing is Guild wars 2, after that. Diablo 3, after that perhaps world of darkness. Between now and then, old timers will not play anything past the first few months. |

I would play DAoC 2 if it was well done. However, I do not believe there will be a DAoC 2. Mythic and EA are likely still hurting from the epic failure that was WAR. Intel Core i5-3570K @ 4GHz, MB is Gigabyte Z77X-D3H |

As a vet from BOR'S server I would love to see DAOC2!!!! But they need to bring back the old Frontier for RVR. Those were the most fun times. |

people forget to leave out the "in my opinion" part of their statements. just because you didnt enjoy X doesnt mean X is terrible. just because you enjoyed Y doesnt mean Y is incredible.
IN MY OPINION daoc's pve was ALOT of fun. in my opinion, daocs rvr is/was phenomenal. at its core its still kinda the same but i would agree that new frontiers ruined it. i really really enjoyed old frontiers.
i would love to see daoc 2 |

yes I'd play it, so would my wife, my sister, and pretty much everyone I know that play mmo games. warhammer is good, but DAOC (the world, the three realms, everything really) is WAY better. |

You would have to be a fool to not play DAOC2. That is if they got Mark Jacobs to come back, who knows how terribly EA would fondle with the DAOC universe. East Carolina University, Computer Science BS, 2011 Games played and quit: L2, PlanetSide, RF Online, GuildWars, SWG, COH/COV, Vanguard, LOTRO, WoW, WW2 Online, FFXI, Auto-Assault, EVE Online, ShadowBane, RYL, Rappelz, Last Chaos, Myst Online, POTBS, EQ2, Warhammer Online, AoC, Aion, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Allods, Darkfall. Waiting on: Earthrise Names: Citio, Goldie, Sportacus |

Think a daoc 2 would have a hard time Take the game as it is now!! New engine with mind blowing graphics, fix the server lag, throw in some new content, a few new classes perhaps, maybe get old emain embedded somehow: one could teleport to a server on the cluster and get old emain. For the record nf is better. Now thats a winner in my book :) I <3 daoc as it is now, would be awesome if game could continue for another 10 years hehe |

If they modernized it (graphics, interface) without turning it into something completely different, I'd play it for years. |

just a quick bump and another "hell yes" to DAOC being revived or DAOC 2 being made, a gamer can dream... |

If they had made DAOC 2, using the ideas which we the players have given them over the years, then Mythic would currently be the developer proudly sitting on a WOW like throne, instead of the failed disgrace called WAR After WAR I personally wouldn't play another Mythic game if They paid ME to play, but if a different developer bought the rights to DAOC 2 and made a solid effort then for sure I would play it for years |

I already played DAOC 2, and canceled. It was called Warhammer Online. |

UGH! DAOC 2 will never happen, just a dream we can all hold onto. |

Hell yes I would play it, granted it is a lot like the first one. Warhammer Online was not DAoC-2, it was more like a Copy of dark age of camelot filtered through a world of warcraft screen. I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors. |

I would love for some sort of remake of daoc. While it doesnt have to be called such, something similar would be nice.
However, it wont work. The main reason, WoW money. But a close second is the player base. hardly any mmo is made with the focus of a "small" audience. Small being 150,000 to 250,000. You could argue that this is a large group when you dont look at WoW, but for some reason, developers are unable to ignore WoW. Devs see 11 mill WoW players so they think, Hey! our game has a built-in audience of 11 million! So lets set up our financials and anticipate a good chunk of those 11 million wallets. A developer could ignore WoW, and make the game, but eventually the cries will dictate the way the game is played. First the cry would be about leveling. The developers will then lower the XP requirements. Then the cries will be about "forced" grouping. so XP requirements will further be reduced, and the overall strength of monsters will be reduced to promote "casual" play. But then whines about the lack of items. So the game will be given an item generator. But that wont be good enough, so all named mobs will drop rediculous amounts of tresure. Now you have a game based on items, not skill. Your armor now defines your character, not the person playing. http://gucomics.com/comics/2005/gu_20051026.jpg Once RvR takes off, the balance cries will start. Lets say the devs stated pre-beta, "This game is not a every class can beat every class game. This game is about realm warfare and large seiges with a paper-rock-scisors mechanic for small groups. Dont like zergs? then dont play!" But gamers will cry about casters being unable to solo against a tank or assasin, so a cast bar is added and a shit ton of nerfs and buffs take place. You see where this is going. Eventually you will end up with another WoW clone, a pissed off player base because you re-made the game into WoW (Even though THEY ASKED FOR IT!), And another feather in Blizzards hat. Either the player base will cry loud enough to force the game into a WoW direction, or a change in management will cause development to chase that slice of the WoW pie.
That 800 lb gorrilla is hard to ignore sometimes. |

Upto 20 pages now, you'd think someone at EA would at least think about it hehe. "Well, there was a time when I was quick to judge others based on what little I'd heard. But... traveling with even the worst, slimiest, smelliest of tieflings and no-honor tree-worshipping elves has taught me some of them are all right." -Khelgar Ironfist |

OK, time for a little thread ressurection, more than one of the first page threads mention how alot of people(myself included) are hoping that eventually DAOC 2 will be made.
I am currently beta testing SWTOR and the game is very good but if they were to announce DAOC 2 I would only be playing SWTOR until the launch of DAOC 2! I know its probably just wishful thinking but we all need hope, right? |
