Originally posted by Malianea Runescape has never had 10m players .. LMAO! They topped off at like 6m, and then lost over half of that when they ruined the game with terrible updates. On top of this the 2.4m visitors are not even all playing the game or paying for memberships. One thing Jagex is very good at is being dishonest with both the community and their player base. |

People seem to love runescape, honestly I would rather just resub to UO. In its current state its superior in every way. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |

This guy from Jagex couldn't be more full of crap.
There is no way, on this earth, that Runescape even comes close to WoW. I'm pretty sure the WoW Mountain Dew budget is higher than Runescape's gross income.
Runescape is what it is, it has been successful in it's niche and more power to the folks at Jagex for it. But to make brain-dead claims like that... sheesh. |

Wait I thought Perfect world had over 50 million players? Or was it Runes of Magic? I remember seeing something on the front page here about it. Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

I know a lot of people who play Runescape, actually. It's very popular amongst the college and high school crowd, even a bit younger. Older people don't play this game as much. I know some do, but it's more of a younger person's game. I personally hate that damn browser garbage. Play a real F2P like Runes of Magic or Perfect World. |

The math just doesn't add up for them to make as much as WoW, but I suppose as long as a person says "possibly" in front of ridiculous sayings then they can't be lying. So based on that theory, I make possibly as much as blizzard does each year I just hide myself from Forbes so the secret won't get out.
I tried runescape one time and couldn't stand it at all, which is why I've always been surprised by the millions who play it. But I guess the fact that it was one of the first free MMOs (if not the first) and it ran in a browser, made the entry level so low and easy that some people just stuck with it. |

Why dont we make a site for those who have to compare WoW to everything out there. Walmart had coke on sale for .50 but I am sure someone read or saw WoW had it cheaper or sold more. Go figure! |

Where did it start? And why do players think the game they play needs to compete with wow? What do they think will happen if it doesnt? |
