Alganon...If you play these games ya might as well just keep playing WoW. Even the screens in this one look like WoW. Runes of magic  Is pretty much WoW but at least is F2p.  Can these developers do anything to re invent the wheel? People who say they cant stand WoW anymore then DL this rip off junk are just fooling themselfs.  Maybe Devs will get an original idea.  we can dream.

Actually the sad part is that the devs advertize it as something new and away from the clones yet they have the exact same UI as wow, the day i saw that screenshot i gave up on the game. Plus another funny thing is there planning on making it a p2p game, go figure.

Yeah, that's why I won't buy a Saturn.. They are just a Ford clone.  I mean, they use tires and a steering wheel.. clearly Ford came up with that first.  Saturn should have reinvented the tire!

All vehicles have the same basic structure, and they all drive.  But, in each different makers' vehicles is a slightly different experience.

The same holds true for MMO's.  Of course they are going to use what works, and have the same mechanics that have been proven (even way before WoW existed).  But I guarantee you that when you start a character in one of these "Wow Clones", you will have a different experience, different quests, different story to follow.   And most likely a different style of graphics (no matter how similiar they may be).  

Just like automobiles, something slightly different may make more sense and become more fun just like that.  Everyone is different, its what makes us all individuals (to a degree).  To those that don't enjoy WoW as much as others, a game like this may be the perfect alternative.

It may even be a better fit for you and your gaming preferences.  You never know.

wow itself was a clone of everquest . so what you mean is yet another game that builds on what has gone before . as do most game single player or mutliplayer . eve is proberbly the most original mmorpg but thats really a multi player version of elite at heart .

Look, I have never played Everquest. But I'm going to as go far to say I don't even think WoW and EQ felt the same. From what I have heard the entire experience of playin both was a complete oposite. And mostly people are saying alganon is a WoW clone because of the UI. And I doubt WoW "stole" EQs  UI.

I think an exact WoW clone, including visually, could do well if it was F2P.

I think an exact WoW clone, with a very different visual style, could do ok as a P2P.

But a P2P partial WoW clone, with some additional interesting features but a very similar visual style? I think Alganon better make sure their character models appeal to those people who like WoW but dislike WoW's character models.

I agree bashing over something as irrelevant as UI is pretty dumb. I was just pointing out that's what the fuss is about.

Calling games WoW clones is so 2005. If a game is a WoW clone, then, in truth, it is an EQ clone. EQ was designed from table-top RPGs ala Dungeons & Dragons. The standard template of most CRPGs (online or not) come from those non-computer games.

Yeah, people are tired of hearing about "WoW clones" but I think people are calling Alganon a WoW clone because of the UI, graphics and classes.

If you were to actually look at the game then you would see that WoW is clearly an inspiration for much of the game.

When an MMO really is a WoW clone we dont need a ton of people flocking in to say "WoW copied EQ".

I went in, and agreed with a lot of you, but then I looked online.

I understand that people would take things from games that were successful, but what's the point of copying it completely? Wouldn't people just play the original game... considering it is essentially the same thing.

I am not a "fanboy" I actually despise WoW, I avoid it as much as possible. I am not defending it, I am simply pointing out something and informing others that were the same as I initially was; before I looked up more screenshots and information.

Personally i think both WAR and AoC would have been more successful if they *had* been exact WoW clones but with very different graphical styles, but if you're going to do that, and be P2P, i think a very different graphical style is a minimum even if some of the added features (like Alganon's Gods) sound interesting.

There is a (small?) niche of people who like WoW and WoW's artstyle but who don't like WoW's character models so that, plus a new world to visit might be enough if Alganon makes their models look less like deformed zombie body builders.

Thats what im saying.  People need to come up with somthing new.   They dam near copied the game itself.

As far as EQ goes. EQ1 is NOTHING like WoW. If you have played EQ1 you would know this.
