We don't know much about GW2, but if we are going on the execution of GW, it will have interesting and new ideas and near flawless execution, I tend to think it will be amazing. It is rare to see this much hate towards a game this early. We really don't know much about what it will be like. GW made some mistakes with their instancing, not realizing how crucial that was for most people to feel connected to a game world. They learned that lesson and I think the changes they make will reflect that. That is one of the key reasons they chose to make a new game instead of more campaigns for the original. You won't see clever ideas like Anet's in your typical MMOs ala WoW/Aion/(pick one). I think a lot of these people are scared by something new and different, which is odd when you hear how much they complain about games being the same. "There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |

Clowns like you shouldn't even be allowed to post on this site because you base your opinions on nothing but a grade school level mental capacity. Excuse me? I was agreeing with you the whole time until I saw this... "Not that I should expect anything more from a person with an anime avatar." Don't you dare try saying that people who like anime are somehow mentally inferior as all that does for you is show people you may have maturity issues.

You want to see hype? Wait until the game is actually released. Then wait for the fireworks as players from every MMO clash in a battle royale to prove that their MMO is the best. While in the meanwhile, the rest of us will be enjoying our new game :D

Wow you could be more of a troll.. Guild Wars has one of the best stories of an MMO and combat ect all of which make an RPG. It can be considered an MMORPG... even if it's not it has more in common with an MMORPG than just an online co-op game. With guilds ect you can stay in touch with all the members even when they are in an instanced area. Also, telling all the Guild Wars fans to STFU on a Guild Wars forum.. not very bright on your part. That's all. |

Most role playing games are set in fairly open environments that allow the payer to choose from many possible paths, and often include side quests not necessary to the competion of the main goal. ^---- This is what a RPG video game is all about. GW1 lacks in the form of Character Development, which is the building blocks of a RPG game |

GW1 lacks in the form of Character Development, which is the building blocks of a RPG game Please, I beg of you, find me the official definition of an RPG that states that an RPG has to involve the raising of one's abilities and collection of items. We'd all love to see it before you continue to blabber on.
Regardless, I, for one, speak the official English language. In my language, this is what RPG means:
Roleplaying-game:- A role-playing game (RPG; often roleplaying game) is a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters. One would assume that is rather obvious, but I guess some need a little hand-holding in the definition department. Do you assume the role of a character in Guild Wars? Well unless you're an absolute idiot who doesn't get past the log-in screen then yes, you do.
You've reached the point where instead of people taking your posts seriously or even being aggravated by them, they're laughing at you instead. |

Look Up ROLE PLAYING VIDEO GAME Not Table Top, and live Role Play. You can even check out Video Game Mags like Gameinformer and how they define RPG. Please direct me to a RPG video game other then GW that doesnt support character development. |

Roleplaying video-game:- Generally, the player controls a small number of game characters, usually called a party, and achieves victory by completing a series of quests. Players explore a game world, while solving puzzles and engaging in tactical combat. A key feature of the genre is that characters grow in power and abilities, and characters are typically designed by the player. RPGs rarely challenge a player's physical coordination, with the exception of action role-playing games.[1] These games usually have a highly developed story and setting, which is divided into a number of quests. Players control one or several characters by issuing commands, which is performed by the character at an effectiveness determined by that character's numeric attributes. These attributes increase each time a character gains a level, and a character's level goes up each time the player accumulates a certain amount of experience. Although, in some recent games, the character can "level up" more specific stats by merely performing actions that relate to them.
I highlighted everything that applies to Guild Wars in case you lacked the mental capacity to engage in such strenuous reading comprehension.
We're still waiting for that definition I requested from you oh Oracle of All Things RPG. |

RPG = Grinding now? The fact that you could get from 1-20 in a day was one of GW's shining parts. Grinding is pointless and a boring waste of time. Guild Wars eliminated the grind, and let people spend most of their time actually playing the game. If you ever even played Guild Wars, you would know the levels meant nearly nothing after Factions came out. Progression came in the form of collecting skills and rare items. The reason why Guild Wars was able to eliminate the grind was because they had no monthly fee riding on the player being forced to play as long as possible. That is why you grind in other MMOs, it isn't because "thats an RPG!", it's to make you pay for as long as possible. Listen ignorant gamer!!!! rpg is not even an mmo is a 40hours +++ game you cant finish a rpg in 1 day, why not ask for a game that you allready have level cap no need for the day either? All I enjoy in a game is the progress I do, I tried wow in pirate server and thats why I dont play wow anymore the instant cap level killed the game for me... Now do you understand me or you still act dumb? |

Guildwars has leveling to 20 yes because it evens the playing field for PvP and makes the game harder for PvE. Also you can play the game over and over without out leveling the monsters. Guildwars has stats you add like Axe mastery, Magic, etc exactly like strength, wisdom, etc. But Guildwars took it one further you can up them or lower them to suit your characters needs. And you say you don't progress in this game Guildwars is a Skills based game you must search the world as you play to gain newer better skills to get better at PvP or PvE. Then flesh out your skill sets which gives the game a tactical Advantage.. You get only 8 skill slots so you must actually think about what your going to do next, you know use your brain. Its designed that way to make it harder and more fun similar to Chess only a certain amount of moves can be used. And the playability is great instancing has its Pros- No kill stealers, No Griefers with nothing to do, No boss mob Camps for hours on end. You can take in who YOU want not what the game wants. And you say a game must be 40+ hrs well you do realize the game continues after you get to level 20 right i've been playing for over 2 years now and its still a great game to me i bet i cant say the same for Runes of Magic in 2 years. Plus if your solo you can Add henchmen to do some levels and not rely on morons to drop out or whine or say how bad your doing cause they are inferior like in WoW. P.S. Guildwars is 4 yrs old or more and its less laggy than Runes of magic and its Graphical Content still pwns RoM and WoW. Crown the Wise, Harness the Talented, and Cherish the Lucky...... |

There is really alot of people who don't have their information straight...Gw2 is going to be open persistant world, there will be crafting, it will be solo friendly if you choose to play it that way, there is going to be new races, and this game was NOT announced 2 weeks ago as someone else has falsely stated. This game was announced 2 years ago back in 2007. Someone also incorrectly stated that it has no connection between gw1 and gw2 which is also wrong. The game takes place 250 years after events in eye of the north, and, incase you didnt know, eye of the north serves as an introduction to the races and some of the lore that will be present in gw2. Get your facts straight people and look up some info on GW2. Whether you liked the first one or not is irrelovant because they are changing many aspects of the game to make it more like a traditional MMO. Please read before you start your injustified bashing of this game. |
