The reason? Because if they said MMORPG, you all would riot and complain that it isn't. It is, it has a mass amount of players online that can move about together. Just because the world outside cities is made for your group does not mean it is not an MMO. |

The hype is not that high. It would be even higher if there were not so many people hyping it as a 1 in order to make it lower because they did not like the first GW game, or they hate NCSoft, or whatever. The hype is high for a reason. GW was amazing. Arenanet are the people that made Warcraft. This will be an MMO with an open world and serious thought given to not making it the same drivel as other games. Deal with it. "Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true — you know it, and they know it." —Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007 |

It doesn't. Nowhere in RPG does it state that such a game must make you level up for X amount of time. Do you want a wiki article? I like wiki articles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game I ctrl + f 'd through that to save time, looking for level. Nowhere did it say anything about a necessary leveling system. I've read the entire thread up until now, and I've noticed you're trying to fight a lost battle. Seriously, admit defeat. It's great that you're sticking up for your... misinterpreted views, but you really ought to know when you're done.

RPG = Grinding now? The fact that you could get from 1-20 in a day was one of GW's shining parts. Grinding is pointless and a boring waste of time. Guild Wars eliminated the grind, and let people spend most of their time actually playing the game. If you ever even played Guild Wars, you would know the levels meant nearly nothing after Factions came out. Progression came in the form of collecting skills and rare items. The reason why Guild Wars was able to eliminate the grind was because they had no monthly fee riding on the player being forced to play as long as possible. That is why you grind in other MMOs, it isn't because "thats an RPG!", it's to make you pay for as long as possible. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |

Is this guy a troll or for real? If I look up the definition of RPG does it say anything about time required to level? Of course not, the term RPG has nothing to do with the time/level ratio. Get real man. I'd really like to hear what your definition of MMORPG is, because I've never heard it defined based on a "minimum time to level cap." ------------------------- |

Since when is 'hype' defined as MMO geeks talking about 1 single trailer? That's not hype, that's par for the course with this genre. When I see quotes from Arenanet saying they will ass-rape all other MMOs, and it's plastered all over every gaming medium, on magazines, and on tv commercials...that's hype. Or if I saw...say...GW2 crap on the side of a Mountain Dew can... |

Clowns like you shouldn't even be allowed to post on this site because you base your opinions on nothing but a grade school level mental capacity. "omg lyk u oinly got 20 lvls n if u reach it dat fast its not an RPG! lawl" |

But you are stating opinion, and representing it as fact. It might be easier for you, and the rest of us if you would simply state that you do not like this game and that yes you believe it iz over hyped then leave it at that. Just a suggestion thou, I am not the boss over you. |

Runes of Magic 2. Requiem: Bloodymare 3. Perfect World International with quotes like:"RoM is best f2p in my opinion." Seriously? What are you 12yrsold? and you are right Guild Wars is not an MMORPG , Arena Net list it as a Cooperative.Online.Role.Playing.Game. But yeah I guess you know better that GW's own developers . GW is not a MMO /sarcasm GW suffered so much from misinformation . what are you guys trying to do? kill GW2 before it even launch? |

What they're complaining about may be misinformation to actual GW fans, but in their own minds it's all perfectly legit and valid. And we're better for it. Do you actually WANT these types of people in Guild Wars? I mean sure, they'll pick up the game, give ANet it's $50 and quit after a month or less, but still, Pre-Searing is currently a cesspit of scum and immaturity precisely because this is where all those people start out. If GW2 is as user-friendly as they're promising, they may actually make it out of the noob areas. The horror! |
