I'll be playing Aion. I prefer bug - free, well optimized game / graphics engine, and an immersive world with real PVP and real PVE endgame rather than them both being tacked onto a single player game and called an MMO like CO. |

Customization is very important to me, too, but in order to like CO, I'd have to consider it more important than everything else combined. It's just about all CO has going for it. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Yeah Zorny that personal attack had something to do with this conversation... I have played almost every MMO out there for at least a month, and i've gotten my 50$ worth out of every single one of them. I truly love this genre and want to give every game a good shot if the developers are really passionate about expanding it. If you want to tell me i'm stupid for doing so I will just respond with the fact that at least i'm experiencing what's out there and not playing the same rehashed crap wrapped up in a pretty rainbow package for my entire life endlessly trolling all forums claiming it's excellence. I post on whatever game i'm playings forums and I defend it from over the top trolls like you. Right now i'm playing Darkfall, EVE, and I will be playing Aion for who knows.. probably 1-6 months. You see the difference between you and me is a game is a game to me and I like to enjoy them for a while and if they become boring I quit. It's not my life like WoW is to you. If a game I like goes in a direction that I don't like I will drop it and move on. You can claim WAR, but i've been doing the same thing since EQ, FFXI, SWG, DAoC, and many more. |

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |

You just destroyed my world, lol. HOW CAN YOU DO THAT! OMG... I am a customization neurotic! I guess I spent 3-4 hours on my CO main lol. This is so... wrong! o.0
EDIT: I think Aion is more complete. CO missions just fell all sameish and CO definitely needs some 4-6 months more to be good. I wait until then. |

I'm playing both because they both offer different things and they're both great games. |

The battles are no longer physical, its from within. |

Champions Onlines uses Instances like AOC does. It lacks some polish but it does provide the feeling of being in some Comicbook from the 40ies. |

I like and have played both games but the OP failed to mention (check the official forums) that many players cannot play CO due to terrible Frames per Second rates, including people with quad cores and running SLi. I get double the FPS on Aion and this has a large decision on me choosing Aion over CO. The devs have kinda acknowledged their is a problem, hopefully they can improve this situation and find a fix.

On topic I will probably buy both eventually but neither at launch. Have to see what Aion OB brings next week. CO is definitely different combat wise than ever other MMO, CoX included and has a good mix of WoW type outdoor quests with instanced missons to cap off story arcs. Also has real level appropriate instanced "dungeons" like WoW and others. CO is a lot more MMOish than CoX is. That said I resubbed to CoX while CO goes through its launch growing pains. |

I beta tested both games and think my play style fits more in line with Aion. I tried to find the good points about CO but when it came to developing my character there where too many choices and felt trying to figure out what would make my character viable in the long run made the entire process not fun for me. The concept of what the game has to offer is great but reminds me of another CoH with a different look and feel. I also could not get over the graphics but I guess they where trying to give it that comic book look and feel. I now try to look at games on how long I will last playing it. I have purchased so many of the newer big titles released MMO's to only have a epic fail for me as they have been uninstalled one by one and collecting dust on the shelves because they where missing something or reminded me of another game. Most of these MMO's are getting very pricey spending $50-80 and then to have a subscription fee of $12-15 for a game that only will collect dust i rather play open beta test run it and make my choice then.

I picked Aion over Champions... based on the fact I beta tested both of them (CO for quite a long time).
Tho my decision was based on my personal preference... so it shouldn't reflect on anyone elses choice. |

My reasons for picking CO over Aion are: 1: Im sick of midieval fantasy mmos. I have been playing since muds and need something different. 2: Im sick of having to play hardcore to compete. I have more responsibilities now, compared to when I was a teenager. 3: In CO I can fly everywhere. Aion's biggest selling point is far too limited. 4: Customization of character both looks and powers is handsdown better in CO than Aion. 5: In CO I have the opportunity to meet everyone playing the game. Server selection is just too old school. 6: Combat in CO is fast and furious, whereas, to me, AIon combat feels slow and drawn out. The one thing that I do like in AION is the open PVP, this it has in spades over CO (along with a better pvp balance), but I feel CO's other positives outweigh this one negative for me. Cheers lads on whatever you choose in the end! |
