Funcom has tarnished the name of Conan for good.  Just the same as Mythic has done with Warhammer.  The good news is that neither of these companies are likely to have any following in the future to do even more damage.

 

I don't play AoC anymore its not my type of game.  Dont like the FFA aspect and only 1 race ect....

However when i played AoC 4-5 months ago its true most of the bugs are gone and the game runs great compared too just about every other mmo out there and looks alot better.

I have a decent mid end rig that is about 3 years old now and i ran AoC without any lag ever (even in battles with 50+ on screen) and got an average of 30-45FPS with max settings and AA/AFx8.

AoCs major problem is there is still a lack of fun end game content.

As for "the game still has many issues" you should try playing it before you crap all over because you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

 

I played in the comeback campaign (few weeks ago AFTER 1.6) and there are still alot of issues with the game.  ALOT.  I will go through few of them just in case.

- Sige battles.  Major problems with taking part in those - I tried 4 and in 3 of them we were not able to take part at all.

- Performance.  I have a pc with 5.7 rating - Frames are not stable enough (going from zone to zone or into instances) to be in any way at acceptable state.  Alot of work is still needed to balance this.

- DX 10 is still not in.  Beta they call it ... Its not even in alpha stage yet.

- Server problems - Lag issues.  I played AOC at diffrent times during the comeback.  There was huge diffrence in lag issues playing during peak times and off peak times.  I checked around with few old friends that were still playing and on avarage we calculated that the diffrence was over 150 ms.  Not to mention that the huge spikes are still ongoing in the game for alot of ppl at peak times. 

- PVE balance - Raids.  I did 2 raids and both were just stupid.  Its just increadible that anyone should offer such a junk out when other gaming developers like BLizzard take their pride in creating top quality raiding experiance.   Balance wise it was a joke (ofc effected by the 1.6 changes)

-Missing/unfinished features.  I will just name two features that caught alot of intrest when the game was orginally released.  In both cases Funcom did a terrible job in implementing these two systems and they have not been worked on at all since launch.  Im talking ofc about mounted combat ... and spellweaving..   In both cases these are in the game but both are such a crap that its not even worth  mentioning.  But its perfectly understandable when a game that had such HORRENDUS issues at launch is still forgetting some of the biggest selling points that went totally forgotten in the myst of the bugs that had to be fixed in the first... YEAR....

Since this topic is also about Warhammer - I want to mention that I also took part in their comback campaign.  I have to admit that I played WAR alot more cause I found the content added to that game more intresting that what AOC had to offer.  But that game has it issues to...  But peak time lag was alot less (even tho siege lag was still very high).  

Again - WAR having issues will not make AOC better.  Fanboys can be happy tho - since they are obviously just more conserned that the game is not the biggest pile of junk on the market.  Even tho I dont find that debatable when you compair WAR and AOC.

Comback MEANS comback - That doesn't mean that a "noob" that goes playing with their old guildmates (including some that ACUTALLY still play) can't judge if a siege battle starts or not...  WTF is matter with some ppl...

If you have something to actually talk about then plz enlighten us about the new Spellweaving or the new mounted combat...

If not then realise that the game still has huge issues and alot of what was promised at launch WILL be charged for in the so called "expansion".  That includes some lore breaking featuers like seeing every person ingame riding a tiger or wolf...

I came back for a month. The game ran perfectly for me. With high graphics setting it ran better on my computer than Lotro or even WoW in Dalaran. The combat is still very cool, at least the melee combat is. I don't have an end game character but the rest of the game I found very nice. Hopefully the game can keep going.

First about Sieges. What I am implying is taken from my own experience (I played comeback for 1 hour). Although I was one of top PVP players on server when I logged in I died in a matter of seconds. Not because I would have forgotten how to play, but because my class, spells and overall role was changed so much that to be actually useful I would need some time to adjust. I would say more than a week, maybe in 2 I would understand my role and get myself ready for some average siege game. (and to judge if siege starts or not you have to be in siege team  so either you are lying or your guild lack people or proper leader to take the best not the worst to fight)

And again you bring something false into game (people always amaze me with their own stupidity). What exactly is being launched with new expansion that was promised before? I cannot remember one thing from expansion presentations that was promised at launch for AoC. IN fact I already pointed out that Sil is doing the oposite, launching the missing content with regular updates and doing something new with expansion. My guess would be to avoid such troll bashing as you tried.

What makes me happy though is experiencing first hand all the improvements to Age of Conan, and the increased activity on the server I play. Even If I wanted to I couldn't go back to a game with bright neon colored cartoon armor. I really like the brutal low-fantasy world in AoC, not to mention the PvP in this game, which is the best I've experienced in an mmorpg.

You wanna bet if DX10 will be launched (for real - not beta) before expansion ?   Thats pretty classic topic when it comes to whats "missing" in AOC...  Its pretty good solution to hide the facts launching a beta versions - Thats Funcom's way of dealing with it. 

Here is what I can promise you with launch of the expansion (if it will launch) - It will not depend on if it will be polished (remember AOC was at a polish state acording to devs before the second postpownment) - it will not launched depending on any "new EVE- online offline "ability" features are ready (way for sub games to force ppl to stay subbed forever if they intend to ever comeback to the game) - or even if dx10 will be working.  It will launch depending of LAUNCHWINDOW of OTHER MMO games.  Just like AOC was launched because Funcom saw perfect opertunity to throw the game out and try EVERYTHING possible (not lifting NDA - hiding their own forums from public) to hide the real state of the game.  Nothing has changed. 

You wanna take a bet on their other MMO?  My bet is that it will be delayed by at least 8 months (since their PR campaign will not be that effective while AOC launch is still "fresh".    

 There is no talk about DX10 but I think Craig is much smarter than this and he will probly not make this mistake. Probly post expansion, but expansion WILL not touch DX10 features of core game. (maybe expansion though ... )
