Making this post now, because I assume there are still copies left for E block.

This game worth buying right now? Just wondering if it has enough features implemented where you can have a bit of fun exploring or doing combat? I am fairly exicted for this game but, I don't want to be turned off by an imcomplete crazy house.

There are few threads on the first page that can answer your question and give you pretty good info.

No need for another thread like this.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

The honest truth is MO is much worse than DF was.

The combat is too basic to hold player interest, most of the features haven't even been written yet, the features that are finished (if you can call them finished) are so badly broken they crash the server every hour or so, SV is charging people to perform internal alpha testing, and SV customer support is non-existant.

They went through months of what they called "combat beta" and in that time they only finished 1/10th of the promised combat systems?

The average user experience in beta is "login, character creation, incomplete, logout, login, character creation, incomplete."

When people do get in they have to run around blindly for an hour trying to find a town unless they were lucky enough to get randomly placed next to one. Then when they finally get to a populated area (assuming they didn't just login to offline mode) they are immediately raped by some naked jackass wielding a 1 shot kill two handed weapon. Yes all that combat beta and they still have weapons that one shot people. Then that same person who killed you will follow you over to the priest and kill you every time you revive.

Sure you can call the guards but not unless you live through the first hit and have enough time to type guard and hit enter before the next hit. But since the weapons one shot kill you there is no way to even call the guard. And even if you do manage to call the guards, since the flagging system is completely broken, they more often than not threaten to kill you for calling them without reason. Sometimes the guard will even kill you when you call them. The griefers love that.

Now they turned on full loot and those same jackasses that just run around killing you also take your stuff and destroy it then come and kill you over and over again at the priest until you quit.

But there's still hope for Mortal Offline, right?

This company got in over it's head. They are at the point in development where they have to prove all the hype they created for the game and cannot do so. The features they claim are just disabled haven't even been created yet. The UI won't support real time use of abilities so the PvP combat will always be slash block slash. This game is going to crash and burn but not in a grand way like Vanguard or Tabula Rasa, but in that seedy back room kinda way like a 45 year old hooker who's had enough and just wants to fade away into the night without anyone knowing or caring.

I suggest if you paid money to get your money back and if you're looking for a good MMO you wait for a real one from a company that knows how to make more than a tech demo for Unreal 3. I got my money back and I couldn't be happier.

I was originally just going to re-preorder the game once my account was cleared of the original limbo charge, but after playing the beta on a friend's account we both decided it would be best if we walked away from this game until SV proves they are actually making a game and not just using the autofeatures that come with Unreal 3 and Grome to scam everyone out of their money.

Everything in the game so far could have been created by 5 people in less than a week. Well 5 people who know what they are doing of course.

Don't waste your time or your money here. And don't be stupid enough to pay an indy company for a chance to test their auto-generated game for them. You'd think they would have something to offer if they had balls enough to charge people almost $100 just to beta test. But in reality they have absolutley nothing to offer but empty promises and a cookie cutter FP combat experience.

I pulled this post off the official forum.   It was buried in a 5 page thread before they deleted it.    I did edit it some so there isn't any nda breaking information, but atm MO looks like it needs a bit of lovin' before its ready.

Its not even worth playing at this point. But you might want to grab one of the last beta spots, and just wait for a couple months until they add more features.

Yep typical post written by someone that thinks a "beta" is a free for play game time to learn all the exploits and good hunting areas.

Damn sucks to be in an actual beta doesn't it? Sorry but what you pulled from the board is typical of the modern teen gamer that only thinks beta is for learning how to cheat before the game goes live.

But hey keep up the good work, some of us know the truth

Congratulations!    You just won the " I didn't read the OP Award ".

/fireworks explode in the background

The OP asked if the game was in a playable state and enjoyable.  I gave him a review of someone who was probably in the same position.

Sorry for any flames I started but, yeah... I just wanted to see if the game was fun at this point. I just quit an MMO and wanted to fill the gap but, it's clear that there is still a lot of work to be done in that game so I should probably save my money.

Thanks for the posts.

At this moment? No.

If you like the game's concept I suggest waiting for another 2 months and follow the forums. At this moment there is nothing in MO that can be called 'gaming'.

I think I paid $0.30 to be a beta tester for Guild Wars way back when. I found it lost on a shelf at a local Target. Other than that, no beta is, and ever will be worth paying for. They pay people to do that, so they should at least let it be free, amungst chosen testers.

I dunno. Depends on what you're looking for.

I beta'd Eve in the early stages, and it was HELL. But I saw the possibilities in the world and the ideas the devs were investing in. Stuck with it and ended up with a game that held me captive for literally years. So broken is not necessarily indicative of the game iself - remember that. What really matters are the ideas and the vision - if they hold something for you then don't give up (though you might consider waiting a few months for an indication of post-launch capability, as some have suggested), but follow the game that has the correct vision for you, rather than the polished GFX etc. that does not a REAL mmo make...

All I can say is if your looking for a game to play wait till the game is officially released, people are giving this game a bad image because the beta isn't the same as the usual betas of today, just a glorified selling technique.

I agree that people shouldn't pay for beta, thing is what they were offering wasn't beta it was the full game at release and beta as a bonus.
