You mean personally it's not going to be a success? Finacially I think it will do fine, if not great. It's apparent you have a great intrest in this game. So what is the interesting part about it for you? Is it the fact that it's not going to be the "SWG2" that many are still sulking about (It's been how many years? QQ). Or is it actually starting to shape into a competitive game for w/e game you are currently playing. Not only is this game shaping up quite nicely (in my and many others opinion) it's doing a great job at warding people like yourself away from it. If anything I feel sorry for you and those like you. |

No info released yet- There is no way to tell whether a game is going to be successful or not. Success is in the eyes of the beholder as I'd like to say. I would call WoW a great success. Do I like the game? Not for a long time, Will I resub for WoW for the brand new Expantion coming out? Hell no. Sooooo in WoW was not successful in grabbing my taste. Hense, not a successful game to me. But money wise it's the motherload. You're a hard core PvPer, RP is for n00bs you say...well then something like Darkfall is a great success. I fancy RP-PvP if I can't have both then it's not a great success to ME. You get the point. Success=what you make it. A) a good quality game that fits the minority. or B) a OK Quality game that makes every 10-yr-old boy and girl happy along with their parents who tag along for family time.
Last but not least, to stay on topic.
I've been taking an interest in what races are playable my self. I've been thinking from the screen shots, the trailor, the avatars that you're allowed to have on the forums and such. is a pretty decent idea of what type of races may be playable. from the trailor alone you saw humans, a twi'lek, and a Rodian, and a Kel Dor (Plo Koon). I think thats a really good guess for just a few playable races. :)

Oh I know that. I'm just referring to the words of Daniel AND Sean at GamesCom (both BioWare Austin employees). When I asked them about playable races, their answer was each time: "There will be other playable races, not just humans."
Again, the Dev's could be lying or scheming. Take it as it is. A direct, clear statement from two people involved in creating the game.
Of coarse there will be other playable races, at least in my opinion. SW has some weird looking species though. A problem that occured in swg was clothing and armor didnt work with some. From what devs have said, making armor is a pain in the ass for them. Having to do it for each race, everytime they add new stuff was impossible to do in a way or in time to meet customer expectations. Have no idea if this is a concern for Bioware or not. Maybe they'll get to as many species as they can with their resources, or are still picking out the most popular that could work. It's kinda odd how they are releasing info though. Obviously the way they are doing it will create alot of speculation. I'm surprised that there are many people telling others not to discuss or speculate or dooms say. When its a clear product of their marketing. Almost as if they want people to do just that. I think most assume the humanoid species found throughout KOTOR will be there at least. Personally I'd like a little yoda companion (don't know his race) following me around, or riding piggy back. You could toss him at your foe as a last ditch move or something. Maybe roll him at a group like a bowling ball as Crowd Control. Tons of stuff you could do with a yoda. |

Well, we do have a clear idea on what Lucasfilm and lucas arts consider a failure for their IP in an MMO. I say we leave it totally up to them...as far as forum BSing goes. Your guess for some of the playable races is a good one. |

Twi'leks and Kel Dor im pretty sure are going to be playable but i dont really have any information to support that claim. Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

I seriously wanted to play a Kel Dor, sadly they would probably be Republic only. Would be awesome to play a Mandolorian, but they are considered a culture more then anything. |

It must take years of dedication to have the ability to be entirely oblivious to a post earlier in the thread that you're replying to that completely contradicts your rather ignorant opinion. That my friend is a skill. Nurture it. Level it up. Preferably not here. P.S. Dragon Age Origins, a Bioware RPG that will be released in 2 short months has a multitude of playable non-human races (GASP!). |

Hmm, never thought about the voices of other species being needed. If they do, hopefully they can use more clever accents than GL..God love him. Would you rather hear the actual language being spoken and reading the subtitles, or would you rather it all be in the same language(english, french, ect..) with strong accents? I think id rather read the subtitles...but it's hard to say without experiencing both. Honestly though voices are cool, not a big deal either way for me. Good for the KOTOR only fans making their way to the MMO scene i guess. In a couple of bioware games, a few of the characters really got on my nerves. Thats a good thing though. Good writing if they can draw any emotion at all from me via NPC's. One game i replayed just to kill one of my group members I grew to hate, because it gave you the choice to save em or kill/let them die when you first met them. Turned out no matter what you picked they still ended up in your group. I was kinda pissed. In thisclip there's an alien NPC that talks in his own language and there's subtitles. |
