This is sad but honestly this will depand on a few factors.
1) Is the combat easy to use. Basically do i have to think while fighting. If the answer is yes there is deep combat than no SWtOR has no chance in beatting wow. Why? Because most mmo players are bad, and rather dumb and useless human beings. These people don't like effort, or challenge, or thinking for that matter. 2) Is character development of abilities and statistics deep? If it is then once agian wow will remain on top, for the same very reasons. 3) How much hype is there? REally look at Aion it offers so very little even compared to games releasing at the same time such as CO, however, CO is dwarfed by Aion and the fact is a lot of people who liked CO will play Aion because; its the cool thing to do. Sounds sad but its true even thinking and well playing mmoers will simply choose aion becuasew tons of asians are playing it and well theres a ton of hype. My friends are gonna play , wonderful but why just play any game becuase your firends are, why not look around have a few play for a few weeks then decided. Aions gonna sell a ton of games but then agian so did warhammer, aoc, etc, etc. So if SWtOR can hype the shit out of the game then yes they could do well, personally, it looks way to basic to me atm but hey its still got some development to go so I personally do not know. (At least it has a story with it and will be fun to play for a while at least). Now the downfall of this game is simply that its graphics are not pretty by any stretch, so your goona lose alot of people that way (don't argue its just the way it is), if this allows somepeople with weaker computers play then that may extend their base but not as much for the simple reason that people with computers that can't play min. aion (whatever game that loosk much better) specs also do not have alot of disposable money to buy and play SWtOR. Still i feel this game have some very interestign things to offer and i personaly cannot wait to play it, and ill judge from there. "Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers. |

It's misinformation, there are currently 491 Servers covering EU/US regions, as the subscription base is split roughly 50/50 between Asia &EU/US it's reasonable to assume there's as many in Asia, so not far shy of 1000 servers globally. Well if thats true, then its very well possible. I don't play wow nor keep up with it i just googled wow server list and counted the ones that showed up. So its possible the site I looked at didn't list them all. Then the information is irrelevant. China got shutdown. so take away those subscriptions With 1000 servers you're looking at 11,500 possible players on each server.. Factor in timezones etc, its still kinda pushing it however possible. |

China is back up, relaunched with a new host. The 11.5 mil is quite correct. ...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought. |

Well, then its true... 11.5million people are victims.. oh well the worlds over populated as it is let them sit indoors.. that just means theres more jobs to go around. one of my good friends fell victim to WoW was 3 weeks shy of his degree and dropped out of school.. Now he sits at home plays wow doesnt work.. Call him on the weekends when were going out clubbing etc, and he chooses WoW. |

I think ToR will be a different style of game. Whether or not thats what customers really want remains to be seen. No way to predict the game's long term success or failure, but it will sell a boatload of copies at release I'm sure. "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

No, SW:TOR won't surpass WoW. I'm a huge SW fan and I hope to see a good MMO based on it some day. I'm just skeptical of Bioware making something that will be fun for a couple of months or more. But it wouldn't matter who made it, it won't surpass WoW. Only Blizzard themselves will do that. |

Ok well thast sounds more liek he just didn't show to classes his last semester. My sister did that she just didn't want to do it. But really, is that not a good thing. If he was serious about what he was doing thewn he would have graduated if not then he wouldn't. I mean if he is happy playign wow and doinmg whatever, is not that what matters? If you're happy being antisocial i guess then sure lol he can play WoW but I'd go over to his house and he would play wow the whole time I'd be there. Its pretty sad really I've known the guy since we were in middle school. I stopped talking to him a couple months ago and hes never tried to contact me so I'm sure hes still in front of his computer playing WoW 24/7..

WoW can't stay the top-of-the-heap forever. I thank the OP for not using that stupid 'WoW-killer' term, it's much more reasonable to ask if another game will become a leader in the market. If any game can, I'd think this one has a shot. People get upset when developers produce games that are just clones of previous games, but when a company tries something a little different, like emphasizing story, the same people whine about how the game won't meet thier expectations. Bioware has shown they know how to make decent games, that puts them ahead of most MMORPG developers. Maybe all it will take to become the next market leader is to make a fun game, even if it doesn't match previous models of MMORPGs. |

So let's say you have 400 hours of gameplay. For people who can play 2 hrs a day (and my kids definitely have LESS THAN that a day because of homework and stuff), we are talking about 200 days ... 6-7 months. That is quite enough. And I am sure there will be additional repetitive elements like PvP and free form fighting.
I think much depends from the way they are counting that 6 or 7 times the content of KOTOR. If it means that there are six classes each with roughly the same amount of content as their single-player monster, well, then I guess it won't actually equal to 400 hours of gameplay for mr. Regular Gamer. In general I think that it is way too early to say anything much from SW:TOR as most of the gameplay details are still shrouded in a veil of inter-stellar nebulae. If, and this is a big if, the gameplay content actually means the leveling content on top of which comes the end-game content, then there certainly is a chance that SW:TOR will lure the masses. Otherwise it will be a quick fling to many WoWers and other MMOers alike after which they will just quietly return to their previous churning. |

This game has exactly zero chance of becoming the MMO leader. |

Many people say it will fail because the story will only last 2 months worth of playtime. Well, what about people who live for the end-game? I, for one, despise questing and the grind to lvl cap. I will be racing to hit lvl cap as soon as I get the game. I love lore, anymmo I play I get into the lore. I just don't do it by questing... lol. So, all who say it will fail, you need to factor end game in. End game wins! |

It won't take over the Market lead. Not a chance. I love Star Wars and I have friends that work for Bioware, but even that doesn't blind me to the fact it won't take the lead. However, I believe it will be in the to top 3-5 range. |
