Originally posted by Shol I think the same. The one thing a good AA title distinguishes from a bad one is the number of subs left after a couple of months. If we're just talking about US then we definitely don't know, but if we're talking about the game overall it's doing well with over 1 million subs. |

should be number 1 as SWTOR is not even a MMO is a COOP-online RPG. nearly the same thing as guild wars. |

Time will tell. No more hype for me, I think the genre is waaay hyped out after the past few disappointments. So I'm glad it's voted top whatever whatever on mmorpg.com. I'll see how the game plays out in a month or two after it's released. EQ1-AC1-DAOC-FFXI-L2-EQ2-WoW-DDO-GW-LoTR-VG-WAR |

Aion is an Asian import that has been waaaaaay overhyped. It may do decently, but it won't be a dominating MMO.

Not sure if you played the game since it focuses on non-instanced realm vs realm action while fighting the environment from levels 25+ in the Abyss. Last I checked you can't have realm vs realm with one person. |

Lineage 1 did far better than 1 million subs in the east, but here in the States who besides me and about 5K other people ever played it? I was only pointing out that hype means nothing, and the true measure of any game is whether or not I'll pay after the first month. My son and i tried the beta and liked what we saw (sort of sucked they never started anyone off at level 25 so we could jump straight into the Abyss) and we'll be playing at launch. Then I'll find out what the games really made of.

Well if you are trying to diss AION, you have done a total FAIL, ROFLMAO.
From XFIRE site just now. #214 down from #191 yesterday AION went as high as #22 JUST from closed beta players on XFIRE. (it is only dropping now because Beta has finished)
That is way higher than most well established MMOs.
When Open Beta and official launch occurs you can bet AION will be in the top 10 if not top 5 on XFire.

One of the hieroglyphics on the walls of the pyramids actually says 'I am upset as my heir will ruin my kingdom' or something to that affect. This is 5000BC stuff and you know what? This is a pretty good example that the wow style of gaming is popular, and all the failure of the other clones are due to bad implementation and a lack of poilshed. If you invent a good setting, and put in polished content, it will be successful. BTW, AION is alerady successful in Asia. |

Sorry, but your post made me laugh. While not a bad game, none of the other MMO's will be in danger when Aion launches. It is just another asian grinder, disguised a bit better, but in the end just a grinder. Flight is just a gimmick, while they do have significant quests it won't be enough to override the lack of endgame. There is also the weak pvp aspect. So sorry to deflate your balloon, but this game will go like the rest of the recently released MMO's. Big initial signup until everyone finds all the weaknesses in the game and then a rapid loss of the playerbase. I expect them to be around 200k subs by middle of next year or until the next decent MMO hits. And let's not forget NCSoft's propensity to let bots take over the game. |

Aion in "beta" is the most polished and complete MMO i have played. The PvPvE concept is great, it's like Doac on steriods.. Judging by its huge success in Asia it will be another hit in west, no doubt. 3.5+ million players can't be wrong (and growing, NcSoft had to add even more servers last quarter) Aion deserves all the praise it's getting because it's just that good.

Ozmodan says "Aion has a lack of endgame". Interesting statement which makes me wonder, why have an endgame point? I keep seeing WoW increasing its endgame point to continue to attract players. I imagine Aion may go the same way. A player reaches "endgame" and then wonders "now what?" Maybe MMO's shouldn't have players reach that "now what" point by continuing to offer challenges despite your level. I think this is part of the reason FF 14 is going the way of expert with different weapons, armor, crafting, etc, rather than have levels. You will reach a point in a game where you become a master at some weapon lets say, then you can start on something new to learn. Hopefully you'll retain what you orginally learned. At least you as the player shouldn't reach that "now what" feeling. |

AoC and WAR both held that place once... If they were destined for the same thing, R.I.P. Aion. You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |
