Aion now holds MMORPG.com spots for Top Voted game in development and Most Popular game. This game just seems destined for huge success. Can you guys feel it too? AMD FX-4100 Zambezi (OC at 4.3GHZ ATM) |

No.. must not believe. They must be botting accounts to raise the ratings and visit counts! They must be brainwashing their beta players so they all make a wonderful word of mouth job of promoting the game, who would have thought a game could generate buzz on actual gameplay? After all, it's just yet another F2P asian grinder with anime graphics and WoW clone gameplay (wait, did I just put "asian grinder" and "wow clone" in the same phrase to define a MMO?), and we all hate them, don't we? The graphics are horrible, the gameplay is dull, the character creator is the worst ever seen in fantasy MMOs, the quests are... KILL X! /obvious sarcasm |

I think it will be a success. That terrifies me. It is the same thing as all the other EQ/WoW type games. It is upsetting. Cheers indeed. |

In other news "Party In The U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus is the top album of the week. Maybe you would enjoy that to. |

We never said Aion was the most popular game around, but the most popular MMORPG currently on the site. While Miley Cyrus may have more sales this week in overall music, she isn't considered rock, jazz, etc and isn't the top album of those genres. |

It has its own unique lore, story, combat system etc. Its easy to generalize them into 1 category, but then we can safely do this with all other genres in saying Half Life 2 and Left 4 Dead are the same thing because I fire guns at things and they die. I think too many people take their generalizations a bit far sometimes. It'll push boundaries and continue to improve what WoW has so far done (which has done the same thing with EQ). I'll end it saying no, I'm not a hue Aion or WoW fan, but there are just something you can't deny and there is no doubting Aion's impending success. It is echoing much of what WoW has done, yet alone improve upon the process (well I guess they had a year to polish the game on the other side of the world too) and focused on the quality of the game from multiple facets. And finally, its fresh (especially to us on the West side of the globe). I hope companies take lessons from this when developing future MMO's now its just a matter if they can keep their game fresh upon release and hold onto consumers' interests. |

Nope. If this site measured huge success then WOW would have 50 subs and EVE 10 million. It will be good though for sure but huge is a bit premature. Wait 6 months and if it still has more than 250k then its a success. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |

The answer is simple...its all hype. AOC , WAR ..heck for all I know even Darkfall may have held those same honors. AION is a SOLID game both in PVE and PvP...but that alone wont make it a success. It is still unclear what factors played a role in making EQ1 and WoW the dominant mega hits they were/are. No one can predict how Aion will do. |

it appears to be hugely popular right now. Time will surely tell down the road. I pre-ordered it. Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. |

Its just the hype before the storm. Almost every game on the list went through this same cycle right before release (even DF) and you'll see it plummet once it goes live and people see how it really is. (because no game ever lives up to players expectations) On the positive side, WOW is way down the list in top voted and popularlity, yet retains the most subs, so perhaps its a sign of success to drop downward.

First, its a joke. Are you Vulcan? Also, Aion isn't considered Sandbox, Sci-Fi, or F2P etc so I don't know why you're making the distinction. Popular only proves that its becoming mainstream just like Miley's music. There is nothing wrong with that, but it makes me giggle. |

it seems the same at first. Then you hit lvl 25+, enter the abyss, which bears no resemblance at all to the lower lvl game, and then the real game starts, - a pvp face rape free-for-all that bears more resemblance to Lineage2 than the above mentioned games. Its just that reason that I wonder if it will be a big success. I dont know if most people can handle the transition from a linear solo quest grind to free-roaming grouping pvp. |

I was just making the point that the connection wasn't one that could be applied that well. You could have made a better parallel and I wouldn't have commented on it. Some jokes just aren't good. My point was that no ones saying Aion is the #1 game in the country or the world and you haven't really contributed to that point at all. |

Originally posted by Kyleran I think the same. The one thing a good AA title distinguishes from a bad one is the number of subs left after a couple of months. Initial sales/hype doesnt mean much in this genre. |
