Hey guys I know there are alot of posts out there about this subject, but many of them are just ppl defending one or the other, this thread is just so you can say If you will convert and why. Ill list a couple pros and cons of both games, I for one quit WoW out of boredom, but im getting my entire guild of 200 people from Maelstrom server to convert to Aion, atleast 100 have it pre ordered at the moment

World of Warcraft

Pros:          • Massive Popularity/Community

                    • Fun for most levels

                    • Good PvP

                    • Addicting

                    • Great Backstory

Cons:         • Life Consuming

                    • Boring if played to much

                    • Wrath of the Lich King made leveling to hard for casual players and to easy for hardcore players

                    • The alliance and horde are very unbalanced depending on the server.

                    • No communication with the other faction

                    • Support takes 1-2 days to help with anything

                    • Armor looks bad up until the 40s or so

                    • Battle animations are repetative and bland

                    • Quests are repetative, most not intresting

Aion

Pros:          • Graphically Amazing

                    • Combat is Eye Catching

                    • Leveling is easy at first to get into it, than gets to be hard, but stays fun

                   • Armor looks great even at lower levels

                   • Character creation Is amazing, virtually limitless

                  • Enviroments are interactive, catching fish in a pond, putting an umbrella on to block rain, etc.

                  • In game cutscenes for alot of the quests, makes them intresting

                  • Great Backstory

                   • Great graphics but can be played on lower graphics cards well, down to a nvidia 5500

Cons:       • Cultured more towards asian countries, could hurt american and european population

                  • NCsoft has not had the best track record with keeping population (city of heroes for instance)

                  • Lack of american OPEN beta

                  • Lack of races might seem as a con to WoW players

Hm...I quit WoW because it is a gear treadmill full of obnoxious, immature assholes.  Playing Aion is just a plus at this point.

When there's a free trial (or at least an open beta) for Aion, I'll see if it's worth playing.

My reasons for quitting WoW have to do with WoW, not with Aion.

I quit wow and cancelled Aion Preorder ... no matter how you look at it, they are pretty similar.

When you enjoy one, you will enjoy the other. When you're tired of one, you will be tired of the other.

Many of WoW players want to quit for Aion because of WoW community but if majority of them move to Aion nothing will change in this matter....

I would quit Shadowbane and UO to play Darkfall.

Does it really matter?

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else.

I don't play World of WarCraft—never have unless you count the closed beta and a 10-day trial—and I won't play Aion, but I sure do hope that it puts a substantial drain on World of WarCraft's numbers. I'm not a great fan of either, but WoW's dominance is the definition of undeserved.

im leaving WoW for aion. but because it's a bad game but because it doesnt suit me. i want more open world pvp and at least on my server in WoW you have to get lucky to get 5 people fighting outside a BG. and the whole neverending grind for gear gets boing after a while seeing as i dont enjoy pve much

"just got full T8.5?, well guess what... go grind for T9 now!" "but wait... i just got done grinding. cant you let me just have fun for a while without everything being a chore?" "NO!"

killed 10 000 mobs while leveling, i dont need to be killing just bigger ones endgame :P

I intend to live forever -- So far so good!

I went back to wow for about 4 months but then realized once more that it really isn't the game for me.  I've been gone from it for the past 2.5 months now and I'm never going back.  I've had the chance to play Aion and I'm not sure if I want to get into it either.  I'm just going to wait till it launches here in North America and see where it goes from there.  As it stands now I could really go either way with Aion.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

Sorry I just have to comment on this.

Life consumin can be said about every mmorpg, also every thing you do becomes boring if you do it to much, pointless to mention.

And by no means is the leveling TO HARD to casual players, no nay never, it has NEVER been easier, it is the easiest mmrogp to lvl PERIODE, either you are ultra casual or ultra hardcore.

And yes the support sucks, the petition time takes many days, and mailing blizzard takes weeks. Makes you wonder what they spend all their money on.

Having played a bit in the beta, I really can't say that Aion is much different than WoW, or EQ2, or *insert-fantasy-MMO-here*.  It has nice asian music.  The graphics are better than WoW, but not as good as LOTRO.  The combat is the same old, same old.  The quests are the same tired variations on "fetch me a spoon", and "kill 12 swamp rats".  The story is more interesting, but the gameplay overshadows it so it feels more incidental.

Of recent games, only Age of Conan offered a refreshing change to combat.  I would probably still be playing it, if it had been finished, and if my computer were a bit beefier (PvP at 5fps is not fun).

For sheer enjoyment, I actually like what they've turned EQ2 into.  Nice looking, polished, decent storyline, same-old combat mechanics, but enough variations to keep it interesting.  LOTRO looks very nice too, but I haven't dug into it enough to tell.  I play WoW because it's a way to keep in touch with friends I don't get to see in person very often.

That last point is why it'll be extremely hard for ANY game to "kill" WoW.  Building a better game isn't the hard part, getting a critical mass of people's friends and families to switch en-masse, that's hard.

Well said.

So that also goes for blizzards constant recycling of old content and constantly repeating mind numbing gear grinds for both PvE and PvP. A game that plays similar might burn you out, but a game with a new atmosphere might keep you around.

I left just after Burning Crusade, after being one of the first to max level on my server, then came back again in time for wrath, again to be one of the first to hit 80, and then left again.

This time I will not be going back, I like you have been waiting for a new mmo, but Aion looks a bit heavy for my machine to run, so I will wait for jumpgate Evolution. thats gona be my main MMO.

I thnk many people will try AION since they do not know the game so they are probably hold 2 games at same time for a short period.

In most game shops, AION is nr 1 preorder game.

In my opinion, AION is not that good game because the online market is thirsty for mmorpg, especially games like Warhammer and AOC really ruin the global market.

People are starving without good game to make their life better so they just pick any food they can eat. But I think the PVP in AION could be fun also because Korean Pennisula still at war. For $15/month then I need to think about if it is worth the money.
