The idea sounds good in the video about voice acting, player choice to effect outcome and status, but a  few questions

1. Can we skip those cinematic scene?  If people playing Alt, they might not want to see the same thing too many times but since you have to make a choice, I am guessing players can't skip it.

2. So I would assume that's an instance (dungeon) type for group to finish the quests/mission.  Typical MMO people have to farm bosses for loots, if it's an instance, can we enter more then once? Or once you finish the quest, you can't enter anymore?  Then if we can enter more then once, if a. we pick different answer each time so we can get different loot? b. has to do the same choice each single time?  If it's not an instance, it's an open-world, then won't the place filled with people doing the same quest?

3. Problem with the video, both toons seem super strong to me, they hardly lost any HP, so does that mean no "Healer" is needed in this game?  Everyone is DPS class?

Just first 3 questions that I have so far, I would like to hear what other people think about these.  Thanks!

Probably not considering it's a game changing factor.

2. So I would assume that's an instance (dungeon) type for group to finish the quests/mission.  Typical MMO people have to farm bosses for loots, if it's an instance, can we enter more then once?  Considering it is taking place in space I could almost say it was a instance of some sort.

3. Problem with the video, both toons seem super strong to me, they hardly lost any HP, so does that mean no "Healer" is needed in this game?  Everyone is DPS class?

It may scale like diablo. More players the more difficult it is. If you listen to the start of the video half of those skills were not suppose to be on them being that low of a level.

And for you class question, That remains to be seen.

Just first 3 questions that I have so far, I would like to hear what other people think about these.  Thanks!

Most likely the demo was rigged so that the characters couldn't actually die.

Game looks good....if you want to play a single-player RPG.  Was the bounty hunter toward the end an NPC assistant or another live player?  I'm just not seeing how TOG is supposed to be an MMO.  That's massively mutiplayer folks.  Not single-player or dual-player.  Can anyone explain to me how this game qualifies as an MMO in any way?

"allow me to explain, no there is to much, allow me to sum up"- enego montoya

The way it works is pretty simple some cinamatics are the same, others are different cause of how you did on previous ones, a good aligned sith or bounty hunter will see different missions than a bad one. They have pretty much said that from day one, part two if you listened that bounty hunter at the end was a PC. They have it set so groups all get a chance to make choices in  cinimatics which will change your cinamatics. As to alts unless your making one of the same class all your cinmatics will be different as the missions are not the same.

They pretty much said that the mission on that ship was the sith warriors, the BH was along for the ride. Which I am cool with, cause that will make it all that much sweeter to make an alt in my opinion cause I know I will make different choices than my friends on missions.

I would also go with the assumption that the demo was rigged, they developed the game but they are still human. How stupid would it look if they died in the first gameplay video? :P

There will definatly be room for expansion, every GCD based Combat system I have seen progresses over time, you are likely to start with one or two moves and then start getting more as you increase in levels.

Action is the real measure of intelligence.

What cesspool are you guys coming from.

Was the bounty hunter toward the end an NPC assistant or another live player?

If you took any note you would have noticed a few things.

1.His name was Grell, the same Grell played in the Bounty Hunter demo part.

2.It was said he was a player.

3.A choice was made with the radial

I'm just not seeing how TOG is supposed to be an MMO.

WTF is ToG

lol, it's like you're fucking 12. Is it not remotely Imaginable that the demonstration was not focused on how many players we got other then what we have to offer. It's in alpha, what did you expect to see a full on raid taking place? That shit happens in beta, where they have the player base to show these sort of things.

Can anyone explain to me how this game qualifies as an MMO in any way?

The best explanation is it's claiming to be.

What your explanation? Everytime one of you "prophets" come in here claiming "it's not an MMO" you bring nothing to the table to offer. So put up or gtfo.

From what I can tell, if you are playing on an alt, your story will be different. Granted, if you group with a class you played, you will see the same instance sometimes, like that flashpoint.  I doubt you will be able to skip the choices, but you may be able to "fastforward" the talking to the choice.

2. So I would assume that's an instance (dungeon) type for group to finish the quests/mission.  Typical MMO people have to farm bosses for loots, if it's an instance, can we enter more then once? They did say their is loot based on your standing/choices.  We have no idea if these "flashpoints" are one time only things or what.  We also don't know if flashpoints are story only, or are like any other sort of instance, or what.

3. Problem with the video, both toons seem super strong to me, they hardly lost any HP, so does that mean no "Healer" is needed in this game?  Everyone is DPS class?

Well, I had this same exact concern.  People said since it is a demo, they were beefed up in stats so that they would not die, and got to show off the game more.  It seems every class is going to be a DPS, with options to do other things.  It seems they are leaning away from a healer class that sits in the back and hits 1 over and over, and more of everyone can do some sort of healing ability.  Don't forget, it was a level 8 thing.

Just first 3 questions that I have so far, I would like to hear what other people think about these.  Thanks!

Fair enough points bud, you got me on a bunch there.  It's not up to me to claim that Star Wars TO'R' isn't an MMO, it's up to the developers to prove that it is, or at least demonstrate that it's worth $15 a month.  Also 'no', I didn't expect to see a full raid.  I do expect to see some 6 or 8 person group mechanics in the near future if anyone wants to convince me that this is in fact an MMO. Fair enough?  Would six people playing together be okay with you Mr. Fanboy?

That's good, because I was thinking you was an idiot.

Fair enough. And probably should have been your first thought before posting how it was going to be.

Would six people playing together be okay with you

I was fine with two. But yeah six seems good.

Mr. Fanboy?

What exactly in your shattered logic leads you to believe I'm a "fanboy" not only have I agreed with people that was feeling negative to the game (art style, slow on releasing new information, animations look bad, and many more) I have expressed doubt myself. Is it because somebody like you and so many before you came in here telling people how it's going to be, and somebody like me stepped up and made you take your seat? See that's where you tripped up. It's never a good idea to throw your made up facts into a discussion and ask for facts to debunk yours. At least be realistic, next time make an attempt to think before you speak.

I would imagine that the demo was rigged so they couldn't die and could actually show us stuff.

My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay.

1. Can we skip those cinematic scene?  If people playing Alt, they might not want to see the same thing too many times but since you have to make a choice, I am guessing players can't skip it.

Probably not. Play Mass Effect or KOTOR to understand why. But in short, they will be a part of role-playing your character does and results will affect your character.

I am pretty sure there are classical dungeons/complexes. The video is from a flashpoint story instance. Not sure you can run those more than once. These might be phased, but it might be that you can help a friend in older version of one. Not sure.

3. Problem with the video, both toons seem super strong to me, they hardly lost any HP, so does that mean no "Healer" is needed in this game?  Everyone is DPS class?

Every class will be able to solo, but you can specialize. The video is from an alpha stage. I am pretty sure they have not done awful lot balancing yet.

Just first 3 questions that I have so far, I would like to hear what other people think about these.  Thanks!

This game is very unlikely to have traditional MMO subscription model. In fact, they have hinted that it won't.

Those mechanics would only prove that it is GMO. You would still come back and complain.

I had not heard anything about that, do you have a link where they make hints it won't be a traditional model?

And regarding the discussion of whether SWTOR is a 'Massive Online' game, we need to move beyond the view where a MMORPG is be judged as 'Massive' just because it has 40 person raids.  When you think about it, a 40 person raid party closeted away some Instanced raid that none of the 5,000 other players on a server can see is really no more 'massive' than a 2 person group.

The massive quality of MMORPGs come from the interaction of players in the open world (and through such things as economy).  It comes from going into a city that is bustling with crowds of other players.   It comes from active guilds that hold their own open-world events or contests.  Such things evolve from the community of players, not from Instanced raids, and it needs a large population to do it.

SWTOR and future games will be moving MMORPGs into new directions and they should still be considered 'massive' online games.  Raiding should not a prerequisite for that definition.

(That's not saying SWTOR won't have raids, the developers have said it will)

There is nothing. An EA CEO made an off comment that wasn't even entirely linked to TOR and the TOR haters began frothing at the mouth. Bioware has made no comments, no hints, no rumours, NOTHING, on sub model.

But if I were to guess I'd say $15 a month with a small RMT shop for cosmetic items/server services only.

There is the link. Pay particular attention to that part.

"The Star Wars online MMO [is a] mid-session game, microtransaction-based."

There also was another piece of information that I was not able to find now, which was relating to the pitch Bioware did to Lucas Arts about ST: ToR. One key aspect was that it won't be subscription based, but you pay for content updates etc. Sort of like episodic content, which would support that slip from EA exec.

This could mean that the game will be updated in shorter intervals than most other mainstream MMOs, but you would have to pay for that content instead of paying for a monthly subscription.

That may actually be a better payement method then monthly. Have to wait and see how it's handled if that holds any truth.

If that is the case, I'll have to see how it plays out.

But, if I am asked one time to pay for a 'fix'...I'm outta there.

I don't think a "fix" would be lableled as content. I'm assuming if it was to be pay for content, this would include new story lines. boss encounters and probably pvp features. So i'm sure fixs would either be seperate or thrown in with the big content patchs.

Well MMO to me means that you can explore the world and run into other players and groups of people.  Meeting up in a localized  hub then being zapped to an instance by yourself or with a group of people is not a true MMO its just a MO.  If this game is not a true MMO, count me out.
