Can I group or communicate with members of the opposite faction? You cannot form groups with members of the opposite faction, nor can you understand their language - making interpersonal communication with the other faction difficult. Default emotes such as /laugh, /nod, /salute, and /taunt will be your only means of direct communication.
So what happens when you try to communicate with someone from the opposite faction? Does it all come out as symbols or something? |

Each race has their own "language". When you try to speak to someone of the opposing faction, it comes out as jibberish.
Example: alockeik: [common] : bur goth em loth
Usually stuff like that. When you try and use the /me expession in game, it just says to the other side "So and so makes some strange gestures". The only way for you to talk to a member of the opposing faction is to make a toon on their faction, or vent.
Groovy. |

Originally, in the very early stages of Worlf of Warcraft, I believe Alpha, both factions could talk to and understand each other. But the constant amount of trash talking and death threats the players made to one another made Blizzard change this. :P "The WoW forums are and have always been, the true heartbeat of the game. Having said that... RIP wow. You had a good run." - MAnalog 10/13/10 So WoW is dead? |

If you're nerdy enough you can decipher some of the gibberish and actually "speak" in the other languages. I think. Then again, don't quote me on that.

I picked on the other faction by doing /e thinks you are a bastard...and it would come out as Hushwolf thinks you are a bastard and it worked...the other faction would cuss me out using /e...so clearly you can have a conversation by using emotes... |

Originally posted by daelnor A friend of mine did an experiment once to see if this were true. It is, to a point. What we found was that the words weren't so much translated as they were encoded in a really small one-way cypher.
For example: lol = bur 123 = bur ass = bur It was a few years ago so these examples might not be exactly correct but the idea is sound: many different words or sylables translate into the same word or sylable. This means one cannot decypher the other language with any accuracy as you'd end up with too many "correct" combinations.
