Seems like the new one has not moved further grapically from any of the better graphics MMO's, at least based on the few screenies you can see. Granted it is early, but so far I dont think it looks as good as LOTRO, Conan or certainly, Champions or Aion or even Warhammer.
I would like to know, why are people going to be excited about the FF, tell me what I don't know!!

Since you asked which to recommend, I'd have to say Aion.

If those were my only two choices, I'd turn off my computer and read a book. |

Aion is too same old same old mmorpg formula, but at least it sticks to what works, in a shiny new eye-candy sort of way. Champions Online is different, like CoX, a game that's as shallow as they come, that's even more about the combat than most MMOs. Unlike CoX, though, CO's combat is an awful step backwards. It's like going back to the early days of EQ, with just auto-attack, except that CO feels like it only has two character types. Ranged DPS and Melee DPS. And they both just spam lame looking attack animations, tossing in the special attacks at a pace that's actually slower than most MMOs these days, as far as basic player involvement goes. Some people like CO, but I swear, there will always be some people that like any game that's advertised well enough. IMHO, it's got the worst gameplay I've seen in an MMO in years - and with all that crappy MMOs out there, that's saying a lot. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Aion - a game filled with flamboyant looking characters with wings that's exactly like any other MMO out there. CO - a game with robot/mecha/ninja/dark vampire characters with wings that's exactly like any other MMO out there only a bit more shallow, has no end game and lame arena style PvP. ***rant*** I swear, since open beta started, every single character I see is either a mecha robot looking guy or a vampire guy with wings or a combination of the two. Sometimes you see a ninja looking character but the character has either wings or mecha robot parts and/or is a vampire. That's one of the reasons I will not be playing it.

Aion, I'm not a fan of Comic Book style MMO's.

I could never play CO. A world full of "super" heroes somehow makes them less...super. |

i never played AION, but i tried open beta CO. I say AION. It can't be worse than CO. |

Aion, because of it's slower pace, and it faction based PvP. I do like CO now that played it... it's a fun fast pace game... just don't think it will have any long term appeal, for me.

I don't like the comic book appeal of CO. That's why I haven't played it. I've played the closed beta of Aion and all of the classes and I like the game's feel and playability. It wins. |

ty- Well , a lot of people judge the outcoming for FFXIV from FFXI, and this is a mistake. FFXI came out on 2002, on may, for PC.Less than a year later they released it on PS2 and later on Xbox,This is all way back , 2 years before wow for example, wich was realeased winter of 2004, i think. FFXI is a PVE ONLY game, yes they have instanced pvp, but no1 gives a shit about it, or gets a lot of support from developers. Also, before the last expansion, you had to group grind to exp past lv 10, now you dont have to, but i belive is still the fastest way.So is a game where you HAVE to group to play, pretty much. All resources and time by developers is put into PvE , so i can frankly say is one of the best, if not the best PvE MMORPG outthere. You cant judge this game by graphics interface etc tought, becouse , when they brought it out on PS2 they limited themselfs the posibility to update such thins, since the ps2 version can only take " so much" . Now please , before you flame,Im quite aware of all its flaws. The interface is terrible, the Notorious monster mechanics are weak, the graphics are old, is a really dificult game and not casual player friendly at all.The exping is all grind in groups ( this i enjoy actually ).And a lot other flaws i dont need to elaborate. Then we have the company Square Enix, and the Final Fantasy series. In my personal opinion this is mostly why FFXIV is bringing a lot of excitment all around,SQuare Enix. Is one of the best RPG companies of all times, all gamers have played at least one of their games, im sure of it, and they are really beautyfull.Their first MMORPG was FFXI and is succesfull even now. but , they cant "improve it" anymore , only bring new content. So instead, they decided to take everythin they have learned from the MMO industry with FFXI and put it with their rpg touch, and make a new generation Square Enix MMORPG. The peeks they been given us shows a lot of new thins like the classes determinated by the weapons you wear , craftsmen classes , and a lot of new features to the MMO world. That being said , as an ex ffxi player , i read they will make FFXIV more casual player friendly, so im not to sure if it will be a game ill enjoy, since i love FFXI dificulty, but ill definetly at least give it a go.It deserves at least that much ^^, we will see. Hope that explains a bit , and sorry bout my english is not my first language Cheers Skieve.
