Screw you and your hundred character limit.

If only Cryptic had done their cell shading like this game...

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Im glad they didn't...i personally turn the cell shading off since i'm not a fan of it.  I'm glad they didn't also for the pure fact that that if it had the example game's graphics it'd cut its leg off on how many players would be able to play it.

I think the way they did it is perfect.

You can't "turn cell shading off", the games graphics are cell shaded. What you probably turned off is the "comic book outline", which gives the game less of a "comic book" look, but that's not cell shading.

Personally, the main reason I won't be playing this game is because of the cell shading. I can't stand it.

Too overdone, I'm not feeling it.

I just find CO's graphics to be too simple.  They seemed to think that comicbook style graphics meant a stark lack of detail.  While that may sometimes be the case, I think Borderlands shows that it doesn't have to be the case.

As mentioned above, you can turn the outlining off, but the graphics remain too simplistic for my taste.

...maybe you didn't play very deeply with the game or your computer can't run the character models and lighting on high but if you have those two things on high you can tell a huge difference there are quite a few armor effects that don't even show up if you rsettings are below Recommended.    You can change every clothing peice to have different patterns, rib patterns (you can take something thats boring and spandix looking and make it look like quilted leather or ribbed like a jump suite, metalic or leather shines ..i mean what else do you want? Real and expensive cloth thread rendering?

I think the only thing simple here is the user's ability to imagine and create with the editor.  I've played with just about every toggle and drop down...its not simple in the least.  Simple is just about every other MMO game out there's character creator.  Keep playing Everquest 2 / Vanguard if you want bump mapping and a ridiculous bland attempt at realism.

... So I says, "Supercollider? I just met her!"

I think it's exactly hit the spot. To me it seems like an even blend of the stark comic-book style and standard stylized 3d graphics for an MMO.

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp.

I turned off the comic outline and then played around with smoothing and anti-aliasing. Now I have quite a nice screen wherever I go. (Other than the floating radiation. Not sure if I've messed a setting or that just needs a bit of work).

Sorry, you're right.  The one thing they got right in spades was the character customization (at least visually, aesthetically speaking)  and it is pretty well detailed.  I was referring more to the rest of the gameworld.  Everything other than the characters themselves.

Revenge is a dish best served with mayonnaise and those little cheesy things on sticks.

I'll agree that some of the world/object textures could use more detail. But the game still looks fine to me.

Look at Advanced Options.  You CAN remove the thick black line that outlines everything to make it 'comic' style.

I find CO's graphics cartoony rather than comicbook, turning off the outline improves them a little but overall, much like the game as a whole, they are bland and lacking in individuality or character.

If it was that easy, everyone would do it.

I can play the game at max graphics, so love the game. But I did take the outline graphics off and it made a world of difference. Awesome game………..

I loved the customization, but from then on it went downhill for me. There's nothing in the world that stands out very much for me. The controls and gameplay just killed it for me. Why would I play an mmorpg on PC that seems almost necessary to have a controller? Console version plz.

OK, turning off the "Comic-style outlining" in the options makes a world of difference. With that off, the graphics are FANTASTIC, especially once you leave the beginning tutorial area. They should have that option off by default, or at least notify people upon first starting the game about disabling it. I got a feeling that quite a few people may not know about that setting, and my be put off be the graphics initially.

And I've changed my mind about not playing it... this game grows on you like hair.
