is apparently "a game where you can't solo-quest your way to max level and then be handed free cookies".

We truly live in an age of Everyone's Special!

I can't tell. Is this a flame thread or a thumbs up thread?

This is an anti-whiner thread. Apparently all post-WoW MMO's have to be completely lacking in difficulty lest they be labeled  a "grindfest". Yet, most of the folks whining have clearly not played the game nor have they actually played an MMO where leveling actually *is* a real pain.

official "annoying grind, as in repeatable killing of the same generic monster over and over, for experience or gear  is required, as there are not enough other options provided to gain experience or gear, in a game of asian origin"

inofficial /trolling/doomsday preacher "any game where i am actually forced to play the real game to get rewards i could never pass on as my e-peen would get hurt"

or "no instant solo quest grinding to max level and instant gratifications for easy mindless task or pointless task not involving the real game(world)"

Nielsen game ratings - Jan 2012 Top-Games: World of Warcraft played 2x more than LOL; WoW played 6 times more than Aion
X-Fire player stats - Jan 2012 Top-Games: League of Legends played 1.5x more than WoW; WoW played 15 times more than Aion
"X-fire, always turned out accurate","X-fire, just like real surveys","X-fire, reason to suspect bias? no!",

I have always believed that everyone deserves a fair shake, but after dealing with hardcores / powergamers since the early days of EverQuest, I have lost all patience and tolerance for that segment of the MMO player base.

I am tickled pink that hardcores are loosing their death grip on the genre and it does a body good to see their tears of frustration and their lamentations of  injustice that fall on the deafened ears of developers.

With all respect, I think you're deluding yourself if you think that "hardcores" are losing their grip. The level grind has just been replaced with the endgame gear grind. And nowadays, everyone is a "powergamer" just breezing through quests trying to level as quickly as possible so that they can get to their coveted gear grind.

Ah I'm drunk and I'm in the street like a vagabond.

I agree that most everyone is a power gamer trying to get to max first and all that jazz.  Im not a big fan of gear grinding, well at least in the WoW fashion. Its just group up run through a instance as fast as possible and hope you get that drop. Then repeat a million times.

I really don't mind mob grinding at all, Im still playing FFXI after trying to find something better and never have.  I think the reason why I don't mind it so much is that your not rushing things, you can actually have decent conversations with people. Plus there are a lot of people that either drink booze or smoke herb too so you all party up get the buzz on and grind mobs for hours on end and its fun.

Ha! That's actually an interesting observation that hadn't occured to me. It's definitely much easier to socialize and have a laidback time when you're just chilling and camping a spot than when you're having to run all over the place trying to complete everyone's quest objectives.

Exactly why I prefer grinding.

Dive on TS with guildies crack open the beers and lay waste to everything.

No ooo we go left here or spam about what drops just good laugh with guildies and get xp and bareley have to move from your spot.

I really dont get why people want to do quests no matter how great the story is they are still boring.

If I wanted to walk all day everyday in a mmo I would start developing "power walking online"
