@The posts making class lists: WE... KNOW... NOTHING... Everything refrencing the cinematics is just grasping at straw. The only conclusive information that we got out of it was: 1) Jumping/Swimming 2)The game actually HAS been in development (to my personal amazement.)
With guild wars one as a case in point. Armor art doesn't prove all that much. We have rendered cinematic proof of a sword wielding warrior class of some kind, and a golem controlling class of some sort. Is that really enough to be naming classes over? |

Considering there is 4 races I would imagine each race would have a couple/few choices. I wouldn't be surprised if they make all new classes. In fact I am hoping they do. Who wants to see reused classed? it's more familiar but it's a retread. I take new classes any day. |

We've barely heard a thing about GW 2 besides the fact that you can finally jump (lol) its still too early to tell what they are going to do with its entirety. |

I am merely speculating with regards to the direction I think they'll go. I think that's kind of obvious given the fact that they've said nothing and the video is all we have to work with. |

We know nothing, which is why we speculate. If we actually knew what classes would be in game then this entire topic would be completely worthless. You can't be sure it's a golem controlling class either since it could just be them displaying a quest where you get to operate a golem, like G.O.L.E.M. in GW. It may be extremely unlikely, but you still can't be sure. |

There's a difference between speculating and insulting the dev team's creativity by ripping off class concepts off of the Runes of Magic wiki.
I doubt anyone predicted the Ritualist, Paragon, and Dervish classes for GW1. Even if initial non-expansion classes end up cookie cutter warrior/mage/priest/ranger types, I trust they'll be able to come up with something more substantial than a hunter or some other WoW rehash for the expansions. |

Secondly, I personally was basing my assumptions on the current professions mixed with the forthcoming races. And whilst we're dealing with creativity - of the 6 classes initially introduced with Prophecies, the Mesmer was the only one that was creative. So, quite frankly, ArenaNet, despite my love for them, aren't the source of all creativity in this world.
Therefore, don't act as if people are committing treason against the dev team for suggesting the inclusion of some of the classes already available. Leave people be "Oh Great One," as they are free to speculate as they wish - whether or not you like it. You're coming across as a Chiuaua whose bark is far bigger than its bite at this point in time. |

Why do I get the feeling OP barely knows anything about GW2? They already said the classes, and even the skills will be based on GW1. gg You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

I wouldn't mind if they didn't add them. The basic classes of GW covers the basic roles of classes though, so we're going to see them in no matter what. They may be named differently, or a couple may be merged/split, but as long as gameplay is the same for them I don't mind about there names. |

My 1st toon was a ranger in GW, after 11 months I made a mesmer to experience a spell caster. I gotta say the mesmer was fun to play, but only in HA was he a force to be significant factor. The mesmer may need to go away because they are broken for pve. |

I would hate for the mesmer to go away. It's one of the most unique classes I've played in any game. |

I don't think we'll have to worry too much. The classes probably won't be identical, but I know they've talked about a few of the classes crossing over (even though it was a few years ago). I think it's pretty safe to say we'll see some sort of warrior cross-over. We'll also probably see an elementalist cross-over (in the form of the asura). Given the style they are going for w/ GW2 it looks like they might split up classes by race (ie Heroes from Guild Wars). Yes, this is primarily speculation, but it's not far fetched. It makes sense, and fits into their style and approach to the new GW2 game. They may end up doing something completely different, but somehow I doubt it. Those core classes are still pretty popular to Originally posted by arenasb I would hate for the mesmer to go away. It's one of the most unique classes I've played in any game.
Me too =) |

Also, Anet has mentioned in an interview somewhere that more than once class will be capable of wielding gun weapons and this has me a bit baffled. It might also suggest we'll see some drastic changes to the games profession system. Sword warrior with a side arm? Dual Wielding...?! Maybe this is what they meant when they said that " Skills would interact with each other more-so than before."
