Not quite.  But the gameplay mechanics are awesome, the control over the player economy might just be the best yet, the world is huge, the graphics are above average.

Anyone who loved the minute details of early SWG should love this game.  This is the game we've been waiting for, screw that fantasy crap and join the apocalypse!

After the first 2 days I wasn't sure if I wanted to pre-order, but today I changed my mind.  I'm want to see where this game is heading.

The feel I get from this game is that the devs were SWG players that got angry with the changes and decided to make their own game.  I know I discussed it with my SWG clan when NGE was announced.  We wanted to build our own game that had some of the best features of SWG but was our own game.  Turns out, this is that game!

Give it a FAIR shot, you won't be disappointed!  That is, if you like something more complex and deep than the WoW clones that have flooded the market.

I've seen other people in-game comparing FE to SWG.  I never have played SWG so I have no idea what it's about.

But I really like the direction FE is taking.  Crafter centric, no sticky targetting, choice of close range or long range combat (or both), zonal pvp with rewards and risks, on top of that meaningful pvp such as being able to take over a faction town - and, it's fun to play.

The community is still developing since it's only in beta, but the core community are quite decent folks with a genuine care for the game.

You can't shoot in SWG like in FE. in Fallen earth you need to click to shoot, in SWG it just happens. So i think FE is alot bether in that point. (My opinion)

Yeh i kinda hate people that log in for an hour or two and quit, FE takes a bit of getting used to so if you play a day or two im pretty sure you'll like it.

But that is the mindset of many people.  It must WOW you at the start.  If this game at the start instead of wowing you, INTRIGUES you, I think those people stick with it.  If it does neither of those, it probably isn't for you.  It intrigued me, I wanted to understand where it was going, it by no means wow'd me and if i wasn't intrigued to figure it out, I know I would of quit in 15minutes, maybe not even getting out of the tutorial.

Since the destruction of my beloved SWG...I've been in what I like to call MMOLIMBO and was frankly just about to give up until I began beta testing this game. Is it perfect?...not hardly, neither was SWG. Is it fun? yes...I think so.  I honestly feel cleansed of MMO garbage when I play this game(WoW, AoC, War..etc.) It takes a few days to "de-program" before you can enjoy this game though...I did'nt care for it much the first hour or so to be honest. However, since the first day I have'nt missed a night of playing, and yes....it does have a similar feel to early SWG. I thought I would list a few positives and negatives for those that are interested...

Positives:

*Crafting is a huge part and you actually have a sense of accomplishment.

*Post Apoc/Sci Fi type setting(MAD MAX like).....no dwarven redbeards or elven magic in this game!

*Can have horses/mounts almost out of the gate(with a little effort...and they make the game much more enjoyable)

*Missions are plentiful and have quite a bit of humor if you bother to read them

*Skill points and the abitlity to tailor your toon to your liking to a certain degree(can carry crossbows/rifles/pistols, 2x4's and even cast iron skillets if you like...)

*BEST GMS I've seen in any game I've ever played...period. VERY helpful and they interact with the community

*huge map!

Negatives:

*Low FPS for some folks in towns still

*graphics are outdated to a certain degree, similar to early SWG style graphics.

*quite a few bugs...pathing, map holes..etc. (But they seem to be working on and improving with each patch)

Overall I think the game is entertaining and I will most likely purchase this one...I can tell they(devs) have really put in quite a bit of effort and thought.

My experience was that I played the introduction scenario and was blown away.

And then when I joined the actual game world I felt kinda like uhhh, now what? What do I do? Where is everybody? Why does the foliage look like a + sign?

Once you get to your chosen town and respawn there you should have 2 npc's infront of you that will lead you to the right direction.

I felt like this as well especially with the very vague quest dialogue. Then I realised "Holy shit this is great." Maybe I'm just a sadist but after I logged out I realised how much fun it was to actually have to think about what to do and where to go despite being frustrated with it when I played.

The newbie experience could be stream lined a bit. Nothing about AP is explained and I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out why I couldn't equip a rifle that was needed for the tutorial as well as a few other issues where things aren't explained very well. Yeah I know it's contradictory to what I said in the first part of this post but tutorials are meant to explain these things while the main game can give as much freedom as it wants once people know the basics.

Still not too keen on the combat but if they sort out the lag issues and continue to work on the basic controls it then there's no reason it can't work.

I've seen nothing of the economy so far but it looks like being quite player driven which is never a bad thing. Sure you will get some people with pure crafting alts but with any luck it will be akin to SWG where the pure crafters make the best stuff and dp quests/PvP on an alt or pure PvP/PvE characters will have a crafting alt but not the commitment of the pure crafters to make the best stuff.

One thing nobody seems to have mentioned is the map. Admittedly it's not a make or break feature but it looks to me like it updates almost automatically with new spawns for harvesting/mining and is pretty dynamic and if they work on it could pull of some really interesting stuff. I'm not sure if it is dynamic like that but it certainly seemed that way.

Finally (sorry for the hijack) it does look amazing. I don't mean by that that it has the best graphics going but it manages to look authentic. It feels and looks like a post apocalyptic world should do. There's no high technology (ignoring the clone thing) and the weapons, NPCs and towns have a proper sense of character.

OK really finally this time. Far from perfect but the only MMO in a long time that's actually got me excited from a beta. I really hope they can iron out the flaws and continue to improve it after launch because there is a great game in there.

Ok here is my two cents for the little time i have put into the game so far:

The tutorial is fun, it's interesting, and the cutscenes at the end are very cool. Gives the game a certain flavor. At first I wasn't sure I would like the targetting system. I got use to it. It has to grow on a person. At least it's not one of those games you just click and shoot and always hit something. You actually have to think when your shooting. It's refreshing. I managed to get through the newbie tutorial and make a choice of what city i wanted to start in and then I had to hard reboot my computer, because I was locked up from the game.

Here are my cons about the game so far.  LAG! OMG! Lag is terrible in this game and I don't know why. I am not running the most beefy system so that could be one reason, but talking with others in the newbie zone others were also having issues with the server lag. It  was so bad you could shoot or move and your computer would just freeze and you prayed that it would stop so you could continue. It was the number one thing I had issue with. I could not ride the vehicle in the tutorial without it locking up and the cutscene at the end was so choppy i could barely make out what she was saying.

This whole genre is a welcome addition to MMO's. They do a great job with the look and feel of the game. Music is really spot on for the tutorial. I found some interesting humor from the npcs. Added a nice flavor. You even get some foul language in the npcs dialogue. I truly enjoyed what I saw so far, but the lag was so awful I couldn't play past the tutorial.

I am going to try and log in again later and see if it calms down or if it was just server side. I know my machine could use a little more RAM, but I can play most games without any problem at all and my computer is over the minimum regs.

If they get the lag part fixed I might really give the game a shot. It has been a pleasant surprise so far.
