I just wanted to take a second to say how impressed I was with the community over the beta weekend. As soon as I hit level 6, I found a great group of people to level with until we all hit level 10. I also asked some noob questions through whispers of people close by and they were polite and very helpful. Random people were healing me when I was low on health in a fight and not one person stole a kill from me when questing. Because of everyone being so nice it put me in a great mood and I even took time when I got the hang of the game to answer a few peoples questions and help out random players. I hope when the game goes live, that this type of community sticks around. Anyone else have any positive or negative experiences over the weekend? |

I had a good experience with the community in this game as well. Amazing what that will do for a "first look" experience, isn't it? It changes the whole mood of the game for me. Between the polish, the fun and the community so far... I could not be happier with Aion.

I found the same thing throughout all the betas (evan when it took me a half hour to figure out how to change channels). Honestly though i think it's more because everyone is new. As much as i would like the community to be "Noob Friendly" forever, it will eventualy get out of hand, to the point where half of the low levels do nothing but begg for cash/help leveling up, and the other half is forced to suffer for there greed. So my advice is enjoy it while it lasts folks. |

Had a good experience with random people saving my life and asking to group, solo mobs are challenging enough to make you wish to group when you don't want to play with "full" attention. While I didn't ask any questions on /shout, I answered some. Sometimes I wish MMOs should put in a server ruleset in which level cap increases over time. Would make this "newbie age" good feeling last for a longer while, with no "must... get... 50... asap" thing =) |

Beta's from my personal experience tend to have better communities than when live. |

CB1 was kinda bad, Lots of kill stealing and so on (mostly because of the lack of servers and channels in the starting zone). The game will get there share of azzhats but overall I think the community will work together because your faction has a common goal and that is to kill the other faction. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Thats right, as soon as legion politics come into play, I'm sure there will be plenty of drama |

I'm surprised that your experience with a community in a beta is good. Not in Aion specifically, but generally in all open betas. There are no social bonds therefore no accountability, hence people that would otherwise be more cautious present their immaturity in its full glory. The best I would expect from a beta of any game is a neutral experience. As I said, I'm surprised that your experience was above average. |

I expected pretty much the same as you stated, but strangely, it was more like the OP described. People randomly healing me, buffing me, jumping in if it looked like my little assassin was in over his head. Sunday evening, I had a question about one of the assasins skills, so I whispered a random high-level assassin to ask about it. The dude was really polite, and even though he said his answers would be sporadic, as he was pvp'ing at the time, he'd answer anything I wanted to know. |

Originally posted by Rabenwolf Maybe because when it goes live, they start paying a subscription fee vs. free betas? Just a theory. My experience was overall positive. Somone in the noob town was offering help if people had questions, so that was nice. I did take complete advantage of it & asked a lot of noob questions & got pleasant responses in return. I dunno if that was a developer in-game or what, but it sure was nice. The guild....*ahem*... Legion I was invited to, Elemental, was also very pleasant. Even meet a player to hang with on Monday afternoon till the servers were taken off-line. We dueled, chatted (mostly about our WoW experience vs Aion....ohhhh.....get over it. Comparrisons are gonna happen) & overall just enjoyed the experience. I had a hard time once getting the answer to my question "Why is my [Warrior] toon glowing?", but finally someone was kind enough to answer.
Moo. There. Are you happy now? |

CB 4 + was a nightmare: Most people refused to communicate and would kill steal/refuse to group for the same mob. Of course I'm talking about the American CB; I'm sure the European one was more civilized.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed. |

CB's communities generally tend to pretty decent, even closed ones as "open" as Aion's Open Beta/Live will be a completely different matter though, expect the fools, kids and general asswhats to come crawling out of woodwork
I need a new MMO world to call home as Tom Chilton keeps destroying them |

I had a good experience with the community also. They don't react well to shouting "OMG WHERE THE HELL IS THIS <QUEST OBJECTIVE>", but when I shouted "Could anyone please let me know where the Escort Wagon is? I spent a ton of time looking for it last night and could never find it" I got whispers from 6 different people ready to give me directions or show me. Pretty surprising given that it's a beta with a very limited amount of time to play. |

I agree that the community so far is great. One thing i noticed is that the friends list isnt global. I really wish it was possible to share my contacts between my characters |

Yup noticed that on the Elyos side.. not while playing the Asmodians tho.. Elyos players are usualy quite friendly and helpful, very good positive energy there, good feels. Asmodians on the other side.. pitful. In my opinion and derived from my experience so far of course. |

I had the exact same experience as you. Nothing but positive...
A few people took my kills but w/e that isn't the end of the world. I always healed people as I walked by - as soon as I noticed they were in trouble... if they didn't have priest buffs - I made sure to give it to them. I want the community to STAY the way it was in Beta, so the best way to do that is lead by example. I saw many other people do the same thing and its great to see people being helpful to one another instead of being azzhats like most MMOs.... (thee who can't be named)
Great community, great game! Just bring on the launch |

mainly positive few asshats at PVP levels but they are now on my shitlist HA wait till they need a hand in the abyss come live can rot for all I care.
As others say because of you being a faction sharing a common goal people tend to be better behaved as you never know when the Cleric who's ass you saved will be the guy who you need to heal you in the Abyss |
