This is true. Hard to spin when something you previously used as a source of factual information starts to show a downslide instead of an increase, but I'm sure he'll give it the good old college try! |

191 to 103 is about 46% drop. 100% drop would equal zero players, but point well taken. Almost 6 hours a day play time for those 103 people is some pretty impressive AFK macroing. |

Most could have predicted that the big swing downward would happen fairly soon. The free month on the NA server has expired. MMO's in general have a fair to poor retention rate. DarkFall seems to be worse than average in the retention area. The end result is a dwindling population.
Nope, what DarkFall needs is... A NEW server! Charging for the client for the third time will give Aventurine a nice infusion of cash so the devs can take another month-long vacation. Seriously, I expect them to open another server in an area where they will try and sell the client again. Depending on how many players they get to re-buy the client for a third time will determine if they do it again a the fourth time. |

Actually I believe Aventurines buisness model is as follows. Open Server in EU, charge for EU client. Wait for most to buy. Open NA server , Charge for NA client. Wait for most to Buy. Do the same in as many regions as possible. Once done move on to phase 2. International server. Give one week warning that All other servers are going to be shutdown. Open Internaitional server. Charge for international client. Charge to transfer chars from there current servers to the international server. Retire! |

In case you doubt my grasp of how to analyze this data, here is a link for you to read. |

It will be interesting to see how many areas they can charge for before they shrink down to the one. You would think that even some of the most faithful would begin to figure it out after having to re-buy the client for a 3rd or 4th time. |

Nah, I don't think it reflective of DarkFall's subs decreasing, it is most probably a case of people forgetting to set up their macros for when they go to bed or everyone's skills being so macroed up that they don't need to be logged in as much anymore. Of course the official fanbot response will be that xfire isn't a reputable or reliable source of gameplay data when presented in a manner that portrays DarkFall in a negative light. It is pretty obvious that if you use you are just looking at the numbers then you are not seeing the potential behind them. To truely understand them you have to be looking at the number without seeing them, and while you are in this semi-meditative trance, a buff and oiled vision of Tasos will materialise before you and tell you that everything is okay and that he needs you to keep spreading the word of DarkFall's fantasical successes as he still has a lot of payments to make on his mansion in the hills. Only after experiencing this vision can you see the positives hidden within the xfire numbers. |

Not that I am defending AV but do you think that school starting back up ine the last few weeks may have something to do with it?? Assassin's like to do it in the dark and from behind. |

As obnoxious as some of these fanboys are it is possible.. I think it was mentioned in this thread that the free month is also over. I guess in another month we will know who is stay and who is leaving as this gives time for the late comers free month to expire also. Wonder if AV will keep to the 3 month wait for transfers? The NA server will probably see more players after that but the EU server will probably be dead in the water then. As an above poster said I can definitely see an international server coming after the transfers happen.. EU players will probably try to move to the NA server leaving the EU server barren. Then AV decides to do an international server with a " different publisher " to resell the game again.. Of course you will have people buy the game again for a 2nd/3rd time. Whats that saying? " A fool and his money is quickly parted " or something like that? Well AV has been banking on that for a long time now. |

I was pretty surprised myself when I saw the last numbers. So surprised, that I suspected that something had failed. Either the DF servers or the XFire servers that collect stats. So I went to look at the other games on XFire, and noticed that they had ALL an extreme dip yesterday. Dunno why, but it is there across all the games (those I checked of course - Warhammer, AoC, EVE, WoW, GW). Wait a few more days, then we will see if this is a true trend and not some system that failed. |

A self selecting pool of participants in a sample makes in pretty much invalid. It also appears the released a new version of xfire on the 17th. |
