Leave it to the people of this community to INSTANTLY find something wrong with this idea. *roll* IMO, this is incredible. An FPS console MMO that interacts with a ship-based space PC MMO, where the actions of both affect one another. This is a -first- in innovation, and it seems to me like the people who are ALREADY talking crap about it are simply complaining because it's not the game -they- wanted, and is instead something way cooler. Honestly, I am looking forward to this project WAY more than a World of Darkness MMO. FPS games play great on consoles - CoD and the Halo series are excellent examples of console FPS games done right, and both were way better on console than PC IMO, and I have been a PC gamer for way longer than I've been a console gamer. That's beside the point.. pay attention people. A stand-alone MMO game on one platform that interacts with another stand-alone MMO game on a different platform. It is its own game that continually evolves and changes with or without EVE. This kind of thinking is what the MMO genre NEEDS. CCP is going to be a TITAN in the industry in a few years (as if they haven't already made a big impression). Like their game or hate it, it is impossible to deny their passion for games or their innovation. |

Brilliant of course; I have no doubt that CCP will make it A+ all the way. Now if only we could get them to move a little faster on that World of Darkness MMO... |

Incredible concept, looking forward more info :) Wasn't expecting planets to play a role so soon, and didn't expect anything close to a whole new game within this true sandbox. |

Depending on how this is done....
This could be very, very awesome. I just started playing EvE recently and like it quite a bit. I will be looking forward to further news on this game. These three things doth a wise man fear: A storm at sea, a moonless night, and the anger of a gentle man |

You are right about that, I doubt a Halo/GoW player would get past the opening credits of EvE Online. I doubt anyone who's subscribed to WoW for more than 6months at a time could get through EVE's tutorial.

I don't get why people think consoles are -so- much more inferior for FPS games. They are EASY to get the hang of, and the only reason they would be difficult for anyone is because those people just don't want to take the very small amount of time it takes to adapt. I suppose the difference in skill levels is much higher though - those who are good at console FPS tend to be WAY better than those who aren't, where-as PC gamers tend to have a more even curve through skill levels. Again.. console FPS games are NOT inferior. So you don't have two dozen buttons at your fingertips - Big whoop.. the actual gameplay is virtually the same. Aiming with a joystick is not more difficult than aiming with a mouse. People are simply used to one or the other and have a -preference-. That preference is just an excuse for why you're not good at one. |

People often complain about lack of originalty or innovation, well kids, this is it. Great idea by CCP. First, a mmo fps for the consoles done right is a long time coming. Second, the playerbase on consoles is infinitely higher than PC. Third, it draws a whole knew audience to the Eve universe. There are only so many aspiring pilots out there. However bringing in the fps crowd is tapping a whole new audience. Not to mention adding actual meaning to the combat as it has ramifications. Really quite brilliant. Now they just need the fps to not suck :P |

This is fantastic news I've really enjoyed Eve's universe but always wish for something more fast paced with it. Its a real bummer that its console only and is a stand alone game (but somehow influences Eve). I was really hoping when I started reading this article that this game would be somehow integrated into Eve Online and have a more direct influence on the game. |

Hope they realize that this isnt like EVE and the barren genre its in.. They have to actually compete against other titles this time round. |

While this is a very cool idea, I hope that the game will be released for PC.

There needs to be a PC version of this, FPS's belong with a mouse and keybord and yes iv played FPS on consoles and iv finished them (halo 3 and modern warfare) and i still think that a gamepad for a FPS is a step down. |

DUST-514 and EVE-Online will be connected into one single entity. This means, what occurs in EVE will affect Dust and vice versa. I am very sad to see this game being a console exclusive BUT at the same time, I can glimpse at the decision. Just hope a Titan doesn't DD near a planet lol. It's not impossible but it's much harder to Wallhack and install third party softwares on console. On PC, sky is the limit and if you're smart enough, any FPS can be hacked to it's knees. Huxley, Planetside are prime examples. Also, console ensures stability since every PS3 or Xbox are the same. On PC, you'll have someone trying to play this game with a 5 year old kit versus a kit of the year... not always the best experience. Though, I'm glad that CCP is finaly bringing new games and with World of Darkness officially announce, I can only speculate that CCP is pretty much the ID Software of MMOs.

why is CCP not making a disembark option.... then it goes into a 1st person or 3rd person mode for ambualtion or the FPS mode? This would be alot better option. I would like my WOD game please...... Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. |
