Some dudes review here: memetic-hazard.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html Pretty harsh. I'll wait till the NDA lifts and some more beta p/reviews appear. |

Wow what a bad review, seriously bad ..... if the reviewer had actually just written about the pros and cons of the game he would have done a lot better. However sadly the FAULTS with the game, and there are quite a few, get lost in a rant which can be summed up as "You didn't make a cookie cutter WoW killer, I HATE YOU!!!!!!!" The simple fact is ALOT of people are going to hate this game and the main reason for that will be this game isn't for them, no matter what they had hoped for or believed from the marketing. Whatever Cryptic set out to make i think they missed the mark, unless they wanted to make a Casual Friendly, niche market game. Will this game reach the 100k sub mark they hope for, YES, will it maintain 100k+ for a number of years that depends if they manage to understand they havn't built a general mmo but a cult classic and adapt their ad campaigns accordingly. |

Arguing someone's opinion without providing rebuttle is lose. |

That review made me laugh. despite all he says, I think the game is awesome and after playing a few months, I am looking forward to more. All I can say is let the QQing begin. Play if you can and see for yourselves but if I know this website...this will be an interesting week. There is NO miracle patch. 95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch. Hope is not a stategy. |

Actually sad to say, he has some points here and there. Overall it didn't seem like a review so much.. I mean, thats obviously what it was, but it tells you little about the game and seems more into making an overall analogy to each piece of the gameplay.
I have a review myself I'd like to write, but I don't want to jump the gun. The playtest last friday had some major issues, and they've had 2 patches since friday, before I start to comment on some of the issues I will wait until I start OB.
Overall though, I've tried every powerset and went all the way through to end level content. which many of the players in OB probably will never see.
So all in all I'll get a review out there ASAP, |

This guy's a rip off, we should wait for original Yahtzee to review this. Such a parody to him. |

You will have trouble finding your friends!
OK, what he described there to me sounds like a benefit and not a hinderence. All of your friends do not have to find the server you are on. They can create a hero and play it on the server you are already on, they just have to add you as a friend or join your supergroup to be able to find you?
WOW. OK, I see that as if the population logged in at any given time is lower ( due to time of day or whatever ) that low population will not be spread across multi-ple servers. You will be able to get a PUG much more easily when playing in off peak times. During on-peak times he says you can find your friends by looking at the instances selection.
The ONLY hindrance I can see here is how they handle heroes and names. That could get a bit dicey of there are no new shards or whatever. Do they not allow the same name hero in the same instance? Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them. |

Yes you can. The list of shards displays those with friends in them and you press a button to switch to that one. There is NO miracle patch. 95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch. Hope is not a stategy. |

Open beta starts today.. If you can get a key, try for yourselves.. “There are dread secrets that none may know and have peace. Pfft. His review is obviously biased. He was most likely a Hellgate fanboi that is still holding a grudge at Cryptic. Champions might have a few problems, but what MMO as of now does'nt? P.S. To Novakayne's question, Two players with the same name can be in the same instance. The "Superhero" name is just for decoration. It's the @<login name here> that shows who you really are. Kind of like a backwards email adress IMO. And to the people that think it would be hard to type in "Superhero@yournamehere", Cryptic put in an autosearch feature in the chat window to easliy find users whom you have talked to. |

I don't agree with a lot of what he says (its opinion and I have my own). I like the story arcs, and find some laughter in a few of them. I like the small instance lairs. I don't think they were an "afterthought". Some are well done. He does make some valid points. The shard thing is a bit dicey. I would like to choose a particular shard and just stay on that shard during my playtime and have an option to move to another shard if I so choose.
The small bugs I have noticed have usually disappeared in the next play session, some haven't. Some of the costume pieces have an error on them. We'll see if that gets fixed for the OB. I'm REALLY enjoying the gameplay. I think it's refreshing. It's fast paced, and the ability to block adds a nice dynamic.
I think its a bit unfair to do a review during beta, because things are constantly changing. Observations, I think, are ok. This really wasn't a review in my opinion. It was a rant. |

Word of caution make sure your forum name is not the same as your account name, this has already proven to be a bit of an issue. Every time you chat or emote, it's shown. Superdude@name dances. etc. |

Man I read every thing on that page including the review about Flo. I will see for my self about CO, that is the type of review for a finish MMO... what the hell? He speaks about cryptic copying every thing from movies too games, even there own stuff from the Marvel MMO they put on hold. I don't think he know they have the rights to do so. I do not like this review, it is BS to me seriously!! |

Its not a review, its a rant. I've been in the game since April and most of what he says is just plain wrong. "Everything you hated about Everquest is back again:" Spawn camping? Not that I have ever seen. Ninja mission spawns? Actually is shares credit for everyone who contributed. Besides, what the heck does that have to do with EQ? I quit that game because of forced grouping. "You will have trouble finding your friends:" You won't have trouble finding your friends because when you select a zone, it show exactly how many of your friends are in each instance of that zone. It also shows how many supergroup member, and team mates. "You can't Crowd Control your way to victory." That's a joke right? I don't think you can CC your way to victory in any game ever. CC is not damage.
So much other BS. He assumes that they added Twitter support instead of fixing bugs. He has no clue about development and how it works. He accuses them of diverting resources away from CO to STO. Show me the proof. What a joke review. |
