Hopefully all of the prejudiced naysayers of "zomg, sub fee + cash shop? garbage" will come to realize that it's time to get off their high horse and step down with the rest of us. First of all, nothing in the item shop will advance you more than anyone else. This is old news, yet some people still can't grasp this concept. What will most likely be in the cash shop are nothing more than costume pieces. Any other paid services will probably be something to do with your account, but i'm not sure what because the game has no servers. Yes, I know that Cryptic really should just put the costume pieces that are in the shop in game as unlockable content instead of milking them, but we can't always get what we want(Cryptic may eventually see the fault in their ways). Next, a lot of people who were "anxiously waiting to try this one" were also people from City of Heroes and completely, dare I say, forgot(nah, no way)that their beloved super hero game also had the form of a "cash shop". CoX did obviously not have anything remotely close to the form of your typical cash shop, but however, you could purchase costume sets, costume auras, and costume switching animations, as well as additional character slots and respecs. You don't hear anyone giving two stinks about any of this. Champions Online is a solid game, and it deserves your time. It might not be for everyone, but it's a nice game. So, just think before you go around spurting "ugh god cash shop? you just lost a customer" out of your ass. |

Going to agree with you on this. Besides, the shop won't be necessary to enjoy the game or get extra goodies... For the Templars... |

Why is it prejudiced to disagree with sub + mt? People don't have to support something they don't like. |

I agree completely. Rather, people should play the game in preview or open beta, and then decide not to subscribe because of the mediocre game play and claustrophobic level design. Given those two items, the cash shop is really just an afterthought. Abbatoir / Abbatoir Cinq |

I don't see it as people blowing it out of proportion. I don't even have a problem with using both models at the same time. The problem is they are charging the same as every other MMO, plus a cash shop. If sub fees were reduced to $5-$7 a month, that would be fine. |

Or even give active subscriptions a few bucks a month of cypt cash (what ever they are gonna call it) a month and those that wanna spend more and get the stuff faster then they can.. those that dont.. can just save a month or so and get it then..

ive played the game
it isnt good enough to be worth a sub fee+mt model.

But it IS blown out of proportion. By what you said, if they lowered the amount of the sub by 5-7 dollars, that means you'd be willing to spend the extra money in their rmt shop to compensate your lowered sub fee back up to 15 dollars. This won't be the case, so why you don't just enjoy the game and not have to worry about spending money there? Also, to the previous poster who said "why am I prejudiced because I don't agree with sub + rmt"? Um, well, you simply assume that the RMT is a terrible concept that in some way will hamper your playing experience relative to others. Just because you don't state it doesn't mean its implied with your statement. I can tell that you're immediately ready to not even give champions a second thought just because it has a COMPLETLY optional cash shop for COSTUME parts. If you don't agree with real money transactions outside of the game sub itself, you shouldn't ever put a hand on WoW, SWG, FFXI, EQ2, Warhammer, CoH, ECT ECT ECT. |

Originally posted by Darkane42 I agree with this. SoE gives active subscribers free TCG packs every month. They are not tradeable but you get all the same cards as anyone else does, and you can get chances to get insanely rare loot cards that sell for millions of creds. A bit different from costume parts obviously, but you get the idea. |

Um...no...being prejudiced implies making a judgment with no prior knowledge of what you are judging/forming an opinion about. Most people instantly assume champions is garbage because they think the cash shop will effect the gameplay of them, again, like I said, relative to that of other players(ie: make players who spend money in the shop better), where in fact it does not. |

To me it's very simple: if I buy a game, I expect I can enjoy every aspect of it. If there are tricks, some special loot or equipment that you can only buy with real money, then I'll just skip the game. I expect paying a game and a subscription get's you a full access to all content, item shops are just a sign screaming "Yeah we got a few jumpsuits here but if you are really looking for a cool stuff, you have to keep paying more." I still think better equipment etc. should come through adventuring or maybe auction house, not by VISA or PayPal. |

No offence but this is as bad as "omg obama was born in kenya" rubbish. I read thru and this will mostly be visual items only .And its a way to generate more cash without actually hampering game play.

Man, I couldn't agree with Dark-Asylum here. I've been saying this for so long about Everquest 2. People who Havin't even tried the game say the game is terrible, just simply because it has a cash shop. The cash shops in most of these MMO's does not make other players have an advantage over others. They are simply appearance items. Gamers are so ignorant on this site sometimes it amazes me, because they make their own judgements on MMO's they havin't even played before or even tried. How dumb is that? Pretty stupid if you ask me. I used to take alot of the gamers negative advice on here, but I don't now, because most of them havin't even played the game for over 10 hours to make a solid judgment on them. Most of the gamers on here don't know shit about the gaming industry or how it works. My Artwork http://tras-h.deviantart.com |

It means that too. People can only go on the knowledge available so far, and Cryptic hasn't been very forthcoming in that department. No one knows yet what the cash shop will contain, except for cryptic, so most people assume the worst. I'm guilty of that too. For me personally despite the fact I like the game I won't support a sub + mt, game-changing items or not. I'm not offended if others play and like that model we're all different. I'm not arrogant enough to assume my opinion is the only right one. |
