okay, first, I already know I'm going to get flamed to hell and back. So I just want you to know, I'm not bashing this game yet. I'm evaluating what I think it looks like.

1: the initial trailer. They had a win and a half with making a trailer that looks that awesome. but, the gameplay I've seen looks about a billionth that cool.

2: rumors.

     A: subscription fee? what the hell is this? You should be working in the OPPOSITE direction. like EVE and WoW, which are HUGE games. don't make us pay to TRY a game we might not like. it's like giving out a demo for 50 bucks... it's a DEMO. I don't know if there will be a trial or even do what TCoS did and have the level cap on F2P players (I thought that was a great idea.) So I won't be too harsh on them for this. but think about it... so far we have very little gameplay footage. do you want to pay a subscription fee and a monthly dump?

   B: not making this for hardcore gamers. There is a pretty big post about this already. I'll sum it up: A dev said that they would not be making this game for hardcore gamers. The person who made the other post had a fit about it making some good points. like how the hardcore gamers are like the sports players, you look at someone like MJ being a basketball player and say "Damn, I'm going to be better than him someday..." The point is that the story line bottle necks the hardcore gamers by not letting them go where they want right away. here is the link to the post on this

BUT! going beyond that... is Jedi or Sith a profession or a chosen class? i know there will be jedi and sith and there is bounty hunters, smugglers, and troopers. according to the official sight, thats all they are posting now.

That is my summary. 

Hard to judge a game that is not gonna be released for another year and half to two years.

The fanboys nor the haters can't realistically judge this game until after E3 next year.

 The graphics are not in their final form, but I have to agree with you here, hate them.

 WoW might not have had a triel when it was released, but it sure as hell didn't have a subscription fee. my point there was it should have either a trial or at least no sub. fee. i don't want to pay a subscription fee, and a monthly fee and then not like it. it's very limited. 

as for your bash on the rumors, I labeld them as rumors already. but thanks for making sure everyone saw that. I did think that some had good sources. In case you haven't noticed, even MMORPG.com posted rumors about WoW's new expansion. So I'm not really offended.

and if you didn't notice, one you labeled as a bad rumor had a ling to the OFFICIAL sight. oh shit! the dev's are spreading rumors about their own game! (that was the one about factions and classes, which yes, the game will have factions and classes... unless the devs are screwing with us.)

What are you talking about?

MMOs work like this, except F2P ones and Guild Wars:

You buy the box/download.

You pay a monthly fee (except in EVE, where you can actually buy gametime using the in-game currency, ISK... which is awesome).

TOR will very likely have a Trial, but not until a couple months after release, once they get the initial bugs ironed out and the game is smooth (because every game improves from launch, whether they launch well or badly). Plenty of people will still pay $50 to buy the box/download, then pay $15 or whatever subscription plan they choose a month.

Yes, everything is just hearsay at this point. Bioware needs to start coming out with more information, but I think they're saving all the good stuff for the big gaming conventions, i.e. E3 next year.

The graphics are still in a very early stage, so don't judge them now. Do WoW Gnomes look like this nowadays? Of course not, that's a very early model. Same with TOR.

Not quite sure what you are talking about Willis.  I paid Blizzard $49.99 X 2 at launch for two copies of WOW which included one month of free play (a 14.99 value). At the end of the first month I had to pay 14.99 per month to continue.

Are you saying ToR will have a box fee and a sub fee in the same month?

 I just want to say before I make a somewhat harsh reply: that was the most bad-ass gnome I've ever seen. of all time

have you noticed that WoW has the free downloads on their own sight? you need no proof of ever having WoW previously, I got a new computer and downloaded them just the other day.  I didn't even have LK and I got it. also, before that, if you got the trial, the game was free. most games don't have disks and pay to download features. most even have alternatives. WoW realized, wait a min... we're rich. we don't need the extra 20 bucks every time someone who doesn't know how to pirate copys of WoW wants to play. Or illigally download them off the internet. (yeah, kinda working against myself there...) So in secret they have the free download available. tehe.

you're on a completely different concept. thats a "monthly fee" a subscription fee is when you get a game and when you go to sign uup it says "please pay us $50 that we don't need becaue our game already has 11 million people and then you can pay the regular monthly fee AFTER that charge."

see I get what the op is trying to say that being that you can just download WoW from blizzards site, and I hate to break it to you but you still have to pay for the game. The download of the game off blizzards site is not a free copy of WoW, you can start a free trial with it, but when you decide to keep wow you have to pay for a digital copy of the game which is like 19.95 now plus the monthly sub fee.  You can't just try out a game like that, if all you want to do is try out open beta's of a game then get a file planet account and reserve beta slots in up coming mmo releases, this way you can try them before launch for free for a short period of time.

Also some games come with beta entries for preorders at major retailers, such as Amazon, Gamestop, etc.

I agree that the OP does not have a good idea what a subscription fee is. 

However, it has actually been hinted that this game will not have a monthly fee, but you pay for additional content etc. It is not been made clear what is it that you actually pay for, but it can be things like new dungeons and epic mission arcs. The game will most likely be a bit more like LOTRO where you get smaller content patched in more rapid succession - these could also be considered as episodic content.

If you can't pay for the box...maybe you should be doing other things than playing games.

Buying the box isn't buying a subscription...it's buying the game itself. You are paying for the liscense to put the game on your computer.  The monthly fee is for access to the server/services, etc. and so on.  It's nothing new, this is how MMO's work.

There won't be any free trial until the game has been out for awhile.  This, also, is typical.  Nothing unusual here.

I suggest you play less games and go back to school or something.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I think seeing Bounty Hunters use jet packs and flamethrowers are pretty cool along with the footage of jedi force choking and lifting.

YOu don't pay for the trial but you do pay for the game itself.WOW has a free trial but if you want to continue playing the game you have to pay 20 bucks for the game itself. I should know because that is exactly what I did back at the beginning of this year.I played the trial, liked it, and decided to pay the 20 bucks for the full game. A lot of games didn't have free trials when they first started. That's the norm not the exception.

Personally I think people who want to rush thru the leveling process need to find another game to play. THis is an MMORPG, not a FPS. WE finally have a company that is trying to put the RPG aspect back into MMO's and for some reason that pisses off the so-called hardcore players. To me rushing thru a game and power leveling doesn't make you a hardcore player of an MMORPG. A true hardcore player is someone who takes the time to enjoy the world they are playing in. They speak to other characters in the proper lingo and try to actually you know...role play.

Don't get what your beef is with this. Our actions have an effect on the gaming world. If there are planets that are valuable for resources then it makes sense to make it an RvR.

It's Star Wars. There are SUPPOSED to be factions. If there weren't, then it would cease to be Star Wars. And yes, there will be jedi and sith. The class tree doesn't show them because obviously that will be Bioware's grand finale on classes. They know that the majority of players will be playing those classes so they are waiting.

Not a big fan either of the graphics, but they are probably doing this graphic style so that more people can play it. Better to do that than to make the mistake that Age of Conan did.

Answer: Every game does that. So what. You are expecting too much. Were you actually dumb enough to expect that The Witcher actually looked like what the trailor showed? It didn't but it was still a good game.

Answer: So what. Every single good game on the market has a subscription fee. Get over it. Tired of hearing the whinin about subscription fees. Thats the way MMO's work. If its mnot a monthly subscription its one of those nickle and diming crap things. Thats life.

 Answer: I'm just fine with that. Hard core gamers make the game incredibly annoying for alot of people. If hard core is what you're looking for, this isn't the game for you.

Answer: They have already been talking about Jedi and Sith. I imagine that they will be starting classes. And frankly, its still early in development. You really need to chill. They are playing the "teaser" crap. All games do this, AND its Star Wars. Did you think they'd tell you everything at once? Of course not, they trying to wet your appetite so they can keep your attention until things are finalized. Even movies do it.

 Answer: Not again. Ok, let me ask you this. Did you p0lay KOTOR? Yes, of course you did. Were they the most advanced graphics for the characters for their time? No, they weren't. Yet its widely considered one of the best games to ever be released. Get over it.

You can download the client, but you can't "download" a valid account to play on official servers.

Without an account, the client would be completely useless though you could, (if you were an undesirable sort), play on privately owned, unofficial (and hence, illegal) servers .. but I'm sure that you never intended to suggest that you would do something like that, did you?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and you just don't know what a subscription fee is?
