Character Creation. The character creation is interesting. Its not of the level of CoX, but as far as most mmo's go, its far beyond them. I have probably seen a couple hundred characters in game so far and I have yet to see a clone of me. This is obviously, personal taste, but I do not like having 4 classes to choose from. I like a lot of variation in classes. For example, it seems there is one pet class. I would prefer more of every type of playstyle with different mechanics as the basis. For example, guild wars has 3 pet classes in, ranger, ritualist, and necromancer, all of which have different style of play. I know in the end there are 8 classes, but seriously, only 8? Hopefully the stigma system will be the variation that I crave...
Controls I dont think that I have ever played a beta that played so damn smooth. The WASD controls feel great. I also like how the game has point and click to move and the ability to turn it off, which I did. Running and jumping feels much more fluid than a lot of the current games.. When I cast a spell, it casts a spell, it feels precise. With WAR, it seemed that the animations never matched up quite right and that everything just felt, clunky.
Graphics In all honesty, I dont really care about graphics. Most of the environment looks decent. The ground/grass looks pretty, meh. The character models look wonderful. Also, most of the NPC models look good. In the end., I care about gameplay...
Theme The game is to asian for me. I dont like cutesy shit. I absolutely hate tiny cute animals with big fucking ears. I like some of the ideas behind the theme, but these are to few and far between for my taste. This is one of the big reasons that I never gave Final Fantasy a try. There is always that short fucking teddy bear race with the big eyes and ears, that I want to strangle.
Coda In the end, for me, it all comes down to the PvP, which I have yet to experience. This game follows the same path as most, it forces you to waste time, lovely ammounts of time, to finally get to do what you want to do, the PvP. Why must PvP always be for end game or be level restricted. I wouldnt mind if you had to be level 5 to PvP or even level 10, but level 25? I just dont understand the mentality of, " Hey, come play our PvP game, Isnt it fucking wonderful, you get to PvPvE, what a fresh concept, now PvE for 25 fucking levels". What kind of retarded mentality is this. When I purchased my MR2, they didnt say, hey, here is your MR2, but first, for 25 days you must drive this KIa Sephia... If it wasnt for the first 25 levels of the same old PvP monotony, I would play this game, no questions asked. With this PvP monotony, I must ponder it, will the PvP even be fun? Should I waste hours just to find out if its even worth while? If the PvP is fun, I am of the type that loves to make multiple characters, so do I want to torture myself going from 1-25 three or four times... Shrug, maybe, maybe not... All I know is I just watched District 9 and I liked it a lot, thankfully they do notrequire you watch the Time Travelers Wife first, because that just wouldnt make sense...
PC specs and setting, Everything is maxed out except anti aliasing. I play at 1920x1080 on a 47 inch LCD, and I dont have any jaggy problems. I have really bothered to check my frame rate due to the game playing smoothly. I will post my fps at a later date. Phenom 9950 black edition 4 gig ocz 1066 2x 3870 toxics |

Instant gratification seekers should stop playing MMO's. It's about building story, ambience, setting, and mood and slowly putting the player into the type of game the developers wanted to create. A PvPvE game with fortress sieging, forced open world PvP on all servers, and instances that relate directly to the war effort. If you want the end game from day 1 play a FPS, a RTS, or another game. Just a suggestion don't think of this as straight up calling you a instant gratification seeking dumbshit. If you think of it from a developers point of view it makes sense. Ease people into the game with a formula similar to WoW, but then introduce them to real world PvP and not instanced gay as shit BG's and arena. Show them that fights aren't always predetermined and fair with level restrictions and player restrictions. Put the fight in the world and not instanced in some place hidden from the rest of the players... Damn rant. So anyway I hate the first 20 levels in a way... They suck to repeat, and they are pretty basic with questing, but they do a great job at introducing the world, the setting, the lore, and the ascension. I wouldn't ever repeat it more than once or twice. I understand why they would make the game this way, and hell it's a minimal amount of time considering these are MMO's that are supposed to captivate us for years. The mid to end game is something beautiful though, and to me it's only other people's loss if they don't see it. |

@ OP i don't mind you review in fact its fairly good and fairer than most who just come on Aion forums "zomg lvling blah", alot of pros and cons in the short time played. Although i think the 1-10 is more of a test this type of class out see if you like it (as well as learning the lore as with all lvls). Then 11-25 learn to fly and learn your elite class which you picked. Tbh it didn't take me to long to get to 10 i wouldn't say its anything to complain about at this stage. I found most of it fun, i like to develop my character. |

Also if you like open world PvP Aion will not dissapoint, the game engine works flawlessly so expect some epic large scale battles :))) GW2 the future of MMO gaming |

why this game fails... you have to pve to pvp and the pve is fucking boring at least in games like wow you can hop in instances at low levels |

but...but...is a fantasy world... and..and.. the pvp plate set look like some cyborg robocop shit.. plz... plz.. make them staaaaap buaaaaaa.
ok now that i made lame whine... soulshots blah! bad thing in L2 bad thing now, lag as expected for a beta, and not that much since im in south america but discouraging for pvp. comunity so far very selfish, expected too since its beta everyone wanna do thing fast nonstop. but good thing must be said, the crafting system first, DAMN! I HATE CRAFTING FUFUFUFUFU but even i must aplaud this system, u win xp when gathering and while crafting witch make things more interesting. Im really inclined to buy it, i just need a "sliders for dummys" so i can mannage to make a manly face for my character and a ICC ¬¬
and if someone can awnser it... i see the drop rate from quest is quite high compared with the chinese, its just for beta or is it the "westernization" they´ve been talking about? or i´ve playing drunk on coke all this time? =p thanks for the attention =D

I am not trying to defend the crap that is the beginning of this game, but trying to explain why I understand why they done did what they did. I want a sandbox of awesomeness with dynamic PvP, but for now I will have to settle with dynamic PvP where skill is really a focus. If you watch kilkil2's video from his post you will understand why I like this game. A group of 6 defeating an entire raid because they are badasses is enough for me. That amount of skill vs. zerg doesn't exist in an mmorpg right now. |

Kenaoshi did bring up something that I am curious about, Soulshots. I believe Aion is calling them power shards or some such name. I wonder if power shards are going to be as required as soul shots are in lineage 2? I am not a consumables fan. I dont like it when skill is always trumped by gear and consumables. I can live with potions, but soul shots are the worst type of consumable ever made...

They only work on physical attacks and though they are similiar I don't really think they will be the silver bullet. As it is they come in drops as well.
edit: if you are a mage you can use a book at a distance and they will work there. Not a lot of damage. Othwerwise, with an orb you have to be up close to use it. It's really not a big deal. |

They aren't as key as Lineage 2, but they provide a little extra benefit just like food and potions. On one hand I like that there are more options for being a better player and upping your stats, regens, etc. and on the other it's another consumable to manage. I don't know i'm impartial. |

not needed for pve ofc, but in in pvp melee classes will also have to spend on it, now imagine an archer have to spend on pots, arrows, stone AND power shards ( aka soulshots) quite expensive, let they be Over Power =p now: M&B Warband: cRPG MOD, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, L4D2 |

Yeah I can't decide right now whether this is a positive or a negative. More things to manage to be the best of your class is a good thing, but consumables might not be such a good thing. Still being able to manage a rotation in almost any other mmorpg = hardcore skills to most which is lame as shit. Complexity is always good, but yeah I dunno. I will definitely see how it works out after the lame ass attempt at world PvP/Sieging that was WAR and AoC... |
