I got in the beta today played 1-11 and I must say wow was this game over hyped.

The graphics are too asian and look like they came from a free to play mmo rpg.

The combat is so boring and tedius I don't care to play any more

The music is nice.

The world is even more linear than AoC and I thought that wasn't possible.

The game just plays like most free to play mmos out there.

What do you wish to get out of this?

it actually plays more like western MMO's.

To each their own, however.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Huge dissapointment. Looks and feels like a F2P.

When I first saw pics of Aion a couple years ago, I was really pumped about it. It looked gorgeous and sounded interesting. I'm not sure what happened between then and now, but I have zero interest in the game atm. I think it's because of how the toons look (too goth emo-ish for my taste), and not really offering anything new to the genre.

The reviews I read are either "ZOMG IT ROXXORZ!" or "ZOMG IT SUXX!" with people on both sides calling each other liars. I think I'll skip Aion and wait for something else.

That's true. I hear it has really good character customization, which is nice. But most of the toons I've seen from people here have that goth/emo look.

If I ever did play Aion, I'd make mine look like an old man, if that's possible. The one Aion toon I've seen with a beard looked like a young emo with a fake grey beard.

rr2real is a anti-Aion troll, not really sure why, tho.

I know he doesn't like the fact it doesn't have FFA pvp, with full loot, and he clearly doesn't like the art style.
Nothing wrong with those FFA pvp, full loot, games but I won't play them.
They turn into more of gank feast then everything else, unless then do like EvE does with empire space and make it really not worth it there.

But it doesn't matter, Aion will do fine no matter how much he doesn't like it.

yeah i made alot of different looks for my characters none look emo or goth.i'm sure some people have, but thats thier choice to. the customization is this game is only second to CoX

I was dissapointed long time ago, shortly after Korean release. I was eagerly awaiting aion but learned it wasnt going to work for me so it fell off my radar long time ago. A single game will never be for everyone.  You win some you loose some.

but i can 100% agree with you. for me it  feels like most  other f2p asia games.

couple of mine in the chinese retail one with the oldman look

edit: more of a dark elf dwarf i'm sure they can come in all sizes

I have to disagree. In the betas without lag, the gameplay was quite good. I will probably give the game a try even though I hate the art style.

AoC customization is nowhere near Aion, but the graphics in AoC are better, i'll give you that
