Something's up with your client or ISP provider for NA1. I constantly get my connection closed when trying to patch more than 50mb at a time with the DF patcher. After patching DF for more than 9hours (i constantly had to baby it by closing the patcher & relogging in to get the download to start again).

Additionally, I constantly get disconnected (lose sync) with NA1 server on a random constant basis. Normally it's when I enter a large city, engage in combat (random from 10minutes to 6hours......more or less it happens in less than an hour) or open my personal bank. I know I'm losing sync when my ping starts going steadily upwards from 100 to 1000ping and keeps climbing. It's a desync because even when my ping says 20,000ms I can still move towards a city (to saftey most of the time) until it hits 90,000ms. When I relog (very painful as well) I find I'm where i ran to when i had to ctrl+alt+del at 90,000ms. This means my movement IS being tracked when I start getting massive packet loss (desyncing).

I've troubleshooted this to death, and reinstalled DF 5 different ways/times now. I've got ZERO firewall between me and darkfall. I've bypassed my gaming router and plugged directly into my cable modem (8Mb cable). I've replaced my modem & contacted my ISP about the issue to no avail. Darkfall is the ONLY MMO or game for that matter that I play (upwards of 6 different games i play online) that has this issue.

Don't tell me it's my ISP, it's not I've checked and tripple checked. Don't tell me it's my router, as I said I've already debunked. Don't tell me it's my Operating System, because I've already tried playing on Vista 64bit (current OS), XP 64bit, and XP 32bit. On EVERY operating system it has this issue.

The best thing I can figure, since most people I play with don't have this issue, is it's your NA1 ISP provider having massive issues communicating with the Easter or South Eastern USA coast. People I play with whom don't have this issue live in north eastern USA, central, west coast, or even canada. You MUST find and resolve this issue IMMEDIATELY, as most of my 9+ friends (who live on the east coast) have quit because of this issue (and it was a bitch to get them to even try the game out).

FIX PLEASE

[/quote]

I realize that I have issues flushing out proper ideas, and keeping on topic (or within frame). So, please forigve me for the idiotic things I did like typing "random constant" lol :D.

Anyways, think I'll get an intelligent response back from a customer support agent, or will I just get "sorry, it's on your end" LOL?

customer support of any company rarely reads in total what you send them, they simply have a bank of copy paste answers. they skim through your ticket and then they send the copy paste with the subject that in general fits your ticket.

i am sure you are going to get an answer saying to check with your ISP and/or that the problem is your router or modem. They might also blame your computer. and will guide you to the FAQ on their site.

my video card went kaput  not long ago, still under warantee. i send them a email saying that when i plug in my card my computer does not even turn on. the power supply wont allow power to go thru to protect the rest of the computer. the answer i got back from them is "when you turn on the computer do you get error messages? do you get any display?" .....WTF....

P.S the card was sent back and got a brand new shiney one.

but just to tell you,TECH SUPPORT DONT CARE. they get payed to copy paste answers.

What you've said is "in general" normal CS. Until you reply several times that they aren't even talking/on topic. Then once they see it's a real issue (and not some faill idiot posting something that's their own stupidity) they then get personal on the issue.

Confirmed by CS,

Greetings,

Who is your internet service provider? There are some ISPs that conflict with Darkfall's smooth running. You may also try running the Darkfall repair tool located in your start menu > All Programs > Darkfall US > Darkfall US (Repair Data). Also be sure that nothing is modifying your system clock. If your problem persists, please do not hesitate to reply to this ticket for further assistance.

Regards,
Darkfall Support

Apparently they already know that their ISP provider for NA1 is a piece of crap. It'll be interesting to see what they say about this.

Typical "problem is on your end" response.

Wonder why they mentioned your system clock? Unless they are using your clock to maintain sync since they have no error checking code in their transmission protocol. If that is so then they are even more hackable then I thought they were.

I love it, what an amateur operation.

Don't rule out your ISP so easily. Lately, some ISPs begin agressively monitoring their customer's traffic and either throttle them if they detect/suspect P2P activity or even time out the connectiong (stop responding). Its crazy what some ISPs are doing with our traffic, its like the "unlimited" internet is not so... "unlimited" anymore. See if u can trace the route from your PC to NA server. See if there are any timeouts. Also, if u get desynced again, try ALT TABing and traceing the route. I hope this helps.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

This, I have read that DF's traffic looks like P2P so some ISP's throttle it. I personally don't have the issue, but know a few in my clan that do. ISP's have gotten ridiculous and try to eliminate you from using P2P, but it effects other things sometimes as well.

I'm guessing you have never worked CS, having been in the Tech. Support industry for 9 years reading stuff like this always gets to me.  There is a reason you get the "Typical Reply" usually because there is a common issue and a tandem common solution.  You should not discount the advice of a support rep. just because you got a generic response.  I answer 3-400 submissions per day, they don't pay me enough to hand type every response.  I'll admit we're not known for our sincerity but let's be honest, we're here to get your shit fixed not be friends.

In regard to the whole "system clock lol wtf" try this, change your system clock while connected to the game servers.  I'm willing to bet you get booted from the servers.  I had the exact problem as the OP but with a little troubleshooting I was able to pinpoint the issue to my system clock trying to resync itself.  Or you can just spam support and insist the problem is not on your end, after all you know HTML and how to network a wireless printer, no way would a professional like yourself have a computer problem.

I'm not trying to sound like an ass (well, maybe a little bit) but I wish you luck in fixing your problem.  Be sure to keep us posted on your progress.

I am 99% sure that AV is NOT the cause of this problem.  Do a trace route, find out where the faulty router is, try to find a way to contact the company that owns the router and tell them to fix it.

I had this problem with an alt.net router years ago.  It was a pain to get them to fix it, I had to beg my ISP to contact them, because they would not talk to me directly.  I was playing DAoC back then, and it was the only game that I had bad ping on because of the alt.net router, not DAoC's ISP, not my ISP.

I hate it when people are quick to blame the game (and hate bumping this thread with the possible fix).  You are your own best tool at figuring out what the problem is most of the time.  Don't play the blame game without proof.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else.
