I don't know why people try so hard to make sure there's an ocean between pve and pvp. Most people who play a game that offers both, play both. I'm not some badass pvp'er (I prefer raids and pve) but pvp sure as hell is fun and I REALLY like the dynamic of it. But since I prefer a 20+ man raid over a 3man arena type team (and don't nerd rage if I get stunned) I am considered pve. Everyone talking about how watered down WoW is... Aion is a pickmeup for that by adding that PLAYER CHARACTER element into the pve scene, and those who prefer PVP > all, get their fill since there is a HUGE area based on that. In fact, the game is based on that. But PVP'ers (especially high end from what you people been posting) are farming PVE content to get better AP/gear based on their rank. So not even PVP'ers can handle only PVP it seems.

I do not understand the hype for Aion. Can someone explain it to me? It looks like the same old thing with flying. Guess I do not get it. I hope its a good game but all signs point to more of the same. First few months it will thrive and then players will get bored and move on. Sooner or Later |

You go eat the same lunch everyday.Read the same book.Go play a single player game for 10 months then.It Always bores doing the same thing. That's why it's a "game"... Maybe? |

Fresh because its a new LP....omg what a thought! Really the years of excellent games with similar themes by the developers, who give them the same name so people can have faith in the title with not much knowledge - indeed its just a name, nothing more of course :P Its more funny that "hollywood" is an attempted jab...as everytime I go to the movies, I guess I should have self-loathing. Or the next time I watch a popular television show, oh man there must be an indie title thats way better. Really, Aion is a good game - but "winner" status will be determined at the end of Q4 2010, as time will tell - not silly statements without merit. |

every game has its pros and cons, but as long as the community iq average is higher than 44, the game should do well, even if they have to merge servers after 6 months. im actually looking forward to getting into a game that has the combined pros and cons of alot of the behemoths out there. there is no escape if you never know its coming... beware the shadows... the assassin knows your sin. |

Depends on definition of "winner" I suppose. Will it have WOW's sub numbers? No. Will it have FFA PVP with real consequences for dying like DF or EVE? No. Will players control vast areas of territory and deny entry to their enemies? Maybe. Will it have well crafted raid instances like EQ/EQ2/WOW? Probably not. Will it have in depth, meaningful crafting? Good possibility. Will it have RVR style combat a la DAOC? Distinct Possibility There are many gameplay features AION will have, and others that will be missing or not very deep. Its a bit early to declare Aion a winner, why not let it release and the numbers will speak for themselves.

I would suspect that the 451% rise in NCSofts profits is indicative of Aions success in the countries that it has already gone live in. I'm not an Aion beta player here in the EU or likely to buy the game just yet when it does go live as I'm very much looking forward to Champions Online, but Aion still interests me enough to see that NCSofts fortunes seem to have turned a corner since their unfortunate last few titles released and failed. The power of money speaks volumes for any game, wether it be good or bad, profits = success in anyones book. However the likes of WoW will still have nothing to fear from Aion, the little players though might find their player bases squeezed somewhat come release day.
