If you've wanted to try EVE Online, now is the best time to join. I just checked the new steam offers this morning, and the week sale is EVE Online for only 5 dollars. Grab the 21-day EVE trial and the $5 dollar game. You can't beat the price. I didn't really like the trial that much but even I might get a copy :D |

EVE is awesome. One of the few games that I am actually happy to pay money for and the really cool thing is that I don't even have to do that 'cos I can buy gametime for ISK. |

EvE may not be an MMO for everyone, but it is a solid game. Ive long considered it one of the best games most players dont play. If you're sick of the standard MMO framework and need to break away, give it a good look |

For me to join EVE the only incentives I can think of now are:
Gameplay change: Flight Model based on player skill + action based Elite/Freelancer model, with wasd+mouse, free flight, strafe vertical and horizontal , boost, engine kill/stop
The way it is now, no way.

Player Skill + Action Based Elite/Freelancer model with wasd+mouse, free flight, strafe vertical and horizontal , boost, engine kill/stop ? NO.
One thing is saying the game has player skill, wich is undeniable, another thing is saying it has players skill PLUS action based elite freelancer model with wasd+mouse, free flight, strafe vertical and horizontal , boost, engine kill/stop.
So you fail for not realizing I comboed them. And to critisize me you had to segregate them. So twisting my original demand, you achieved your point, but I noticed it, so in reality I won and you failed. You also failed twice by mentioning WOW. I hate WOW. |

Indeed, it is the prettiest spreadsheet I've ever played. I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play. |

I can understand the allure of the game, especially the deep economic system, but I can't get past some of the core mechanics that take absolutely forever (traveling anywhere). Yes, it's more realistic for the game universe to be enormous. In reality, space is far, far bigger. But gah, most of the time I'm just watching my ship in autopilot flying between waypoints. It's booooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg...then a few minutes of fun...then booooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggg.....repeat. |

That's pretty much it. Lots of flash, very little substance. You've got huge systems with very little to actually do in any of them and big pictures in the background. Thanks guys. Add to that all the real asshole gankers that play... I'll pass, but thanks anyhow. Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, lots more |

I actually played for a couple months...but it was a while ago. Why wouldn't I want to use autopilot? You spend so much time traveling. You're telling me that the game changed so much in the past year or something that I'd actually want to pay attention and manually control my ship during the agonizingly long travel times? If it has changed that much, maybe it's worth revisiting. |

Ok since im mistaken in thinking you played for a short while Ill actually explain. When you autopilot the system only places you at 10km+ away from the gate so it actually takes alot longer to travel with autopilot than just right clicking space and setting warp to 0. Also autopilot can be setup wrong and you could fly to low sec and get blown up or if you traveling with valuable goods Autopilot can get you suicide ganked since you take such a long time to warp at the gate. It's faster and safer to manually travel. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

Oh, bleh. Ya, I remember setting up a load of waypoints all over the place. It was essential for low sec traveling, but when it's safe, I preferred to go autopilot and watch TV or browse the net for a while. I have two monitors, for this very reason. For a second, I was hopeful that maybe the developers made traveling a lot faster and easier. It never, ever made sense to me why autopilot wouldn't be MORE effective than manual flying. It's supposed to be a spaceship!!! I have to assume that it's packing a supercomputer in there that isn't so stupid that it can't manage to autopilot properly. |
