Thanks for posting this Xandramas.

The first thing I thought when seeing the screenies was "Fallout 3 online" but none of the reviews I read mentioned the obvious visual similarity.

I reckon I'll take a look at the open beta ;)

Is it over yet...

I think a lot of people wont like how rough around the edges the game can be. I have to admit though over the last few weeks they have really started to pour some polish on the game. The UI makes sense finally. Combats fairly stable. In my opinion its the world that just sold me on the game though. I just love the environments!

EDIT: Bad gramma

I know, how awful. What an insult to FE, comparing it to a piece-of-shit game like SWG.

There can be only one...

Vault 13

Yes, and its by the original creators: Interplay (NOT Bethesda!!).

Okay...and seeing as that vaults 1 through whatever don't exist in the FE universe I'd say you're pretty safe with your one and only "Vault 13"...

Bleh, without divulging too many details, I found the game to be complete ass. It's a stretch to call this anything like Pre-CU SWG...there's a few things that are similar in style...but for those looking for a second SWG: look elsewhere.

ah...the problem is that there IS nowhere else to look.

Haven't you heard of Earthrise?

But that's farther away, so how it'll turn out is still uncertain. But on paper, it's better than any other coming sandboxes (in my opinion).

And there's a key thing about opinions when it comes to MMOs: No one person's is more better or more right that anothers when talking about what interests said individuals.

Earthrise was on my watch list but there is just something about it now that makes it not appealing to me anymore. Doesn't mean it won't be a fun game for others and certainly isn't cause for me to start making negative "predictions" about its future like some video game Nostradamus. It's just...not for me. Why others can't adopt that mentality I'll never know. I can say, though, using gaming as a microcosm, such behavior contributes greatly to the rest of the world's ills as if people can't adopt a "mature" outlook on gaming, it's no surprise they can't on things that...oh...actually matter.

Comparing it to earthrise? The game isnt out so whats the point? Play earthrise when it comes out and stop playing this. Or do both shrug. No point in bashing this because on paper that one sounds better.

It does grow on ya, maybe not the 1st day or 2nd, but you soon fine yourself loading it more than your regular mmorpg if you like this type of mmorpg mechanics. To me FE has a atmosphere and your character seems more personal, I cant quite put my finger on it, but they got something going there.

This is pretty much what I feel. I logged out last night and initially I didn't think I was going to log back in due to just how confusing it feels but it's the first thing I wanted to play this morning. It just has some X factor that lets people in the right mind frame realise that despite the flaws - and there are quite a few - there is a great game in there.

I guess in that respect it's similar to SWG. That game had so many flaws and the actual programmed content in terms of quests and PvE was pretty sub par but people just kept logging in. In the end I reckon it will be the community that make or break this game.

Someone said user run towns and cities are on the to do list for the makers and that could add a whole new layer of content to the game if done right. Ideally I'd like to see a system where multiple people are required to run a successful town/city and have them keep with the feel of the game. No mega cities but more like rogue settlements and shanty towns or even the option to have nomadic tribes but that would be very difficult to incorporate.

The game definitely isn't going to appeal to fans of tradtional MMOs for the most part though. At least that's my impression so far.

I agree, I am curious where this game is going. Housing has been a debate on the forums on how it will be implemented in the game. PvP is still big talk and how it will play out, looks like Sector 3 will be the place for massive PvP due to Faction Town take overs.

Anyways..

If you like socializing and crafting, most likely you will like the game from the get go. I am not a big fan of FPS style combat in a MMO but I can get used to it. Hopefully some of the other elements make up for the things I dont like. Have you seen all the EMOTES? This game has got a ton!

The game to me doesnt feel like a Theme Park MMO at all, to me it feels more like a sandbox game with levels, if that makes sense. I think its because of the skill base system that is the game.

It probably has in part to due with the fact that its fps. Games that are fps make you feel like you are more in the game than when you are looking over the shoulder of an avatar.

Personally, I can't wait to try it out... I LOVE post-apocalyptic fiction, devour everything on it I can find... The game world looks fantastic. I think this will the place Auto Assault should've taken for me.

Let me try and say things at little different then... I know its not SWG, but it is for me a damn good alternative. It has many aspects that Pre-CU did allso have, and I have the same feelling in my stomach I had when I played SWG Beta. So I think that it will attract a fair amount of pre-cu fans, and it will have a small but very dedicated community, much like EvE. But again, im no expert.

The MMO gamer equation:
Social skills + anonymity = skill + toughness divided by actual ability.

Me neither.

Crafting doesn't come even near to what SWG pre-NGE is. Hence, even SWG NGE still has a far better crafting system (as it was mostly untouched by the NGE).

The skill system and all the options you had in pre-NGE completely dwarf Fallen Earth's skill system (wich is nothing more then a level based class based system in disguise).

So again. I have no idea either why people think they get a pre-NGE SWG feeling from it.

I think people have just forgotten how Pre-NGE SWG really was.
