It was a funny review, but I have to say in many ways not very accurate. Eve is incredibly complex, but it is hardly a "Spread Sheet Game". I personally don't play EVE anymore but my time spent in game was very interesting. Yes, many new players find it to be a bit dull, but after about a month of playtime with a good corp, you'll see why CCP is able to hold 200,000+ players attention. It is a game that is hardcore with a huge learning curve but once you understand it, there's no other game out there quite like it. Blizzard uses WOW to harvest hours played into bottles so that the dev team can remain immortal |

While I still find mining and the depth of the game fun, I do think the XP system is rather out of date. The idea was fun at first, but with the game now being multiple years old, no one really wants to play catch up. The other thing about how realistic Eve is with player economy and interaction, it's next to impossible to trust anyone and since were paying to play this game and ships and equipment aren't cheap, your pretty much destined to be alone for fear of losing your ship and isk without even being in combat, aka scammers. Eve is a beautiful space MMO with a crapload of things to do and see, but for all intended purposes of an MMO it fails miserably at one thing, longevity. I pretty much put Eve in my CoX category of games that are fun to play for a month and than I stop for a year and come back for another month. However, with Eve's XP system, thats pretty much a bad idea. So ya, great review... |

When I first started we went out on mining ops once a week and profits minus a certain percent were split equally amongst everyone and the rest was used to buy cruisers to go pvp with. The corp I'm in also has also helped me replace ships that I have lost and bought me a mining barge when I was able to fly it. So while some corps are certainly going to be like you described there will also be laid back groups too. Certain guilds/clans for other games require their members to be such and such. I remember last week there was a guy recruiting for Aion and said that the people that want to join need to play 40 hours a week. The culture of Eve dictates the form that some requirements for some groups take, but the concept is not unique to just Eve. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

200,000+ players? Hmmm not so sure, I know some people who play EVE, they all have more then 1 account because training time is so long, they need to play an alt just to kill time. So, 200,000+ all real live human or 1 person could have like 10 accounts? |

Also, I basically pulled that 20% out of my behind, because I can't remember the figure that was stated. I wouldn't be suprised if it was 1/5th though. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

Oh good, Salvatoris is back and he brought friends. The second account figure I've seen was more like 5% of accounts are second accounts, still doesnt change the fact that EVE is still growing, still getting better. Not bad for a 5 year old game. I do find that eve review quite funny, and thats good because thats yhatzee's job, to make people laugh. If he wanted to actually review the game he should have tried PvP and joining a corp because really thats where the game is. Its like playing WoW and refusing to kill any mobs. |

I look more of his video and I do find some truth in his review. I agree with almost every single review from him. (haven't seen all reviews, so can't say I agree 100%) |

Oh look.. this video.. again.. It's only been posted here at least a dozen times. It's also just a piece of -entertainment-, and hardly even qualifies as a review since the reviewer barely even played the game, and went into it refusing to even give parts of the game a chance - knowingly.. it's not as if he didn't even know about some things.. he just purposely chose to ignore certain features. It's an entertainment piece, as are all of his "reviews". |

We've seen this BS review about ten times on this forum. Use your internet skills and do a search on the forums and you will find the threads devoted to this comedian. The guy is just joking around for a reaction, if you take his review seriously you're a moron. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

And no unlike every other MMO Eve is the one an only game that's a life simulation. Sounds kind of strange but that's how MMO's were intended to be. Ask around how serious this simulation is, this isn't WoW we have a game world that evolves and changes through our actions. You people that spout bullshit like "eve is a spreadsheet" or "Eve is a sci-fi wallpaper" are idiots and only do it to sway possible new players away from this game and toward your single player Co-op wannabe of an MMO.
