Yeah... going through the new info now.

The Guildleves system sounds very neat in concept... However, (and I know others have said this as well), it's got "exploit" written all over it, possibly providing a way to power-level (or its XIV equivalent) through distribution of different "leves". I *really* hope SE is looking at systems in FFXIV from all angles, including how they might be exploited, because you can *guarantee* that there are going to be people finding every way they can to cheat the game system(s) as soon as they get their hands on the game.

Edit: Heheh, the site must be getting hammered; it stopped loading and now I'm getting page load errors.

Edit. Ohh they must not have changed the EU site its still the same one as before.

But yeah this new info is nice.  I like the idea of changing jobs on the fly, I just wonder how the inventory will work. Eventually you'd have to put stuff in a Mogg house if your like me and cant really decide which job you like and leveled up like 4 different main jobs not to mention the subs.lol

It seems that the Japanese and English site is the only sites that got updated today so might as well just check those. It really has some great info for people are still unknown about the game and the weapon system and job system is explained really well and seems like a good change to MMOs.

Who would be born first must destroy a world.

I don't feel like creating yet another post on this and adding to the chaos of streaming repeating threads, so I'll say it here.

Two points to note:

Interest: If you read the introduction, there are four cities mentioned. Since this is in fact the introduction I'm assuming these will be the starting cities. So unless they've segregated Lalafell from Miqo'te or Hyuran from Roegadyn, perhaps we can expect at least one new race.

Concern: So far it sounds like the same song & dance. Even some of the landscaping looks recycled, renamed, and rerendered. But I suppose that's bound to happen when you're creating an entire world that encompasses all the various terrain. Sill, reading further, the world revolves around a crystal, the cities / nations are post-war, and malicious creatures stalk the land. Sounds a lot like the world and nations and beastmen of Vana'diel to me. I swear if all they do is rename Yagudo, Quadav, and Orcs... oh, who am I kidding. I'll be playing this shit anyway but...

Alternate reality setting of Vana'diel, or mere coincidence?

Game sounds good so far. Remember if they change it up to much they'll alienate existing fans and it won't feel like FF anymore. I think this is essentially a sequel to FFXI anyways, not exactly FFXI-2 but by the looks of it it's closer than not and for good reason imo.

Here are my question/thoughts. Advanced jobs/weapons and sub-jobs? I'm wondering if they'll have jobs/weapon types you unlock by leveling a combination of i.e. weapon A and weapon B to lvl x and lvl y. Also I'm wondering if there will be any further customization to a job of your choosing i.e. mixing and matching of skills or a "sub-job" type system. Maybe the theoretical advanced jobs will take care of this by themselves? Also, I still don't think they've mentioned if you can change weapon mid-battle or if there's a cap on the skills/weapons you can max out.

Can't wait for more information!!! p.s. love how they used Leeroy in their example haha

I guess you're right about alienating the XI audience, but they I hope they at least come up with new "beastmen" or better yet, other fully civilized races against whom we'll be playing against. Even if they're unplayable, I'd like to see more diversity in the cities. The beastmen of XI are all generally primitive and tribal. Since everything else has advanced, so should the enemy.

I liked Leeroy, that was kinda funny, and - leave it to me to find ANYTHING to complain about - but Leeroy changed his facial hair and hair cut, and I think even his skin tone. Either there will be barbers in XIV or SE was too lazy to render one character model going through the motions. ;P

So far, I see guild leaves as the best way to 'recruit' members, using these as 'applications'.

Also, I hadn't considered before that while all fighting and magic combinations have been grouped into two; crafting and tradeskills have also - but both are considered "classes" in character development.

I dont' know why this didn't cross my mind earlier, but it says players can dedicate themselves to a role to become the best at their chosen abilities, or balance themselves out with some from all. So people CAN indeed play HOWEVER they choose... I think.

Instead of a player crafting or gathering in order to fund their character in the way of weapons and armor or foods and potions, craftsmen and gatherers can do these things for them for even trade.

But then I think back to the change at will and I guess leveling in the character strength sense doesn't apply to non-combat specializations. So, there's no way you could JUST be a craftsman unless you employed fighters & casters to be your gatherers.

But there are already gatherers...

I'm so confused. Need more info... ;_;

I can't wait! I'm so excited. I can't speak for other people but this sounds like exactly what I've always wanted in an MMO. I believe it will surpass even FFXI in my eyes.

Could be that this is going to be what they really wanted Vana'diel, and its races, to be like... -shrug-; but yeah, I saw the similarities anyway.

Like you, I'll be at least trying it anyway. I have a feeling I'll like it. I do like the new look of the Mithra (Miqo'te).

Here's a thought... Note how they make it a point to distinguish different "groups" of a given race? They do it for the 'Humes', the Miqo'te and the Galka ones... I wonder if those differences will be reflected in the game and, further, if it'll be merely cosmetic (maybe different options for charcter creation) or if it'll play into the game in some way as well...

I noticed that immediately! There are two 'groups' for each of those three. Only the Elzen and Lalafell seem pretty linear for now. But It makes me think that maybe players will be given a choice, after their race, to choose their lifestyle and then doing whatever suits them. That could alleviate some of the stress of racial stat differences.

Perhaps it's this "Garlean Empire" will be what we're ultimately fighting against? The ones with the flying totem poles in the trailer?? It sounds like that's what they're "gearing up" for (the nations in the southside and maybe the northside too?) and the adventurers (us of course!) will be hired out as mercenaries of sorts. Although since the Garlean Empire mysteriously vanished maybe that's what we'll try to happen upon but what will we fight to get to them??? BeAsTmEn!?!?11

yea I hope there is no powerleveling, it can be stopped by making all beneficial spells party only. effects last only as long as the member is in the party.

That would be best. Since after battle you can change your weapon to a staff and heal yourself, there would be no need for a player to be healed by another unless as a member of a party during battles.

I'm wary of the guildleves and issuance of leaves as well. If players can trade and accept each others leaves, or complete them without even having leaves themselves, it's riddled with "exploit" in my mind. There's not enough information about them talking about what they're for exactly, so I just have my fingers crossed that the rewards will be minimal. More beneficial to a guild than any singular player - as more people complete them.

I'm curious how you power level in a game that has no levels?

I hope there is no way to force other characters through milestones of gaming experience at a faster rate than would be otherwise considered their natural course.

How's that? ;p
