In an announcement made today, the Cartoon Network series "BEN 10" will be getting the MMOG treatment. The upcoming game, entitled BEN 10 Omniverse Episode 1: Rise of Heroes, is being developed by TurnOut Ventures, which is a joint venture between Turner Entertainment Holdings Asia Pacific Limited and Outblaze Investments Limited.
The game will be available at http://www.ben10.net in Q4 '09 and will be a free-to-play browser based game. Players will follow in the on-going storyline of the series, which features a 10 year old boy named Ben Tennyson who is able to morph into a variety of aliens by making use of a device called the Omnitrix. The game will serve to fill in the five year gap between the original BEN 10 series and the new BEN 10: Alien Force series. In the game, you'll be able to create your own alien character and absorb DNA. As you absorb more DNA, your characters appearance and abilities will be altered. The character development system focuses heavily on this DNA absorption mechanic, as opposed to classes, which promises to provide players with many options and much flexibility. BEN 10 will also feature a full range of content options, running the gamut from PvE to full team based PvP play. Stay tuned to the official Ben10 website for more information on the upcoming game! i wonder if Ben 10 will be a enemy/ally we have to fight. the IP is kinda hard to do without the title character being hevily involved but that prosents a double edge sword. |

sounds like something the kiddos will enjoy. perhaps some adults too! I've never watched an entire episode myself, but I have seen bits and pieces. Seems like an interesting concept. Playing: |

interesting that they're setting up a competitor to FusionFall (or are they trying to build a new game that can actually compete with free realms?). I've never been able to get into Ben 10 - plenty of people have recommended it, but it just never suited me. A Billy and Mandy MMO I'd be all about. |

I've seen a couple episodes of the series and it is pretty cool. The concept of this game does sound pretty amazing to me. I love how it's not going to be class based and instead lets you make your character however you want, with tones of possibilities. While it's kind of hard to see CN designing a game that can stand toe to toe with the big guns in the industry, I suppose it's possible. If they can pull off this open ended character making thing and do it right, while also making the game look really cool, this game could turn out to be pretty awesome. |

and to think it all started with the freerealm concept (I know there where a few othere before Free Realm's but seems to be the thunder that started the landslide) could be good thogh i'd like to see if they give the option to play the "evil" faction or if evrey one has to make a plumber (good faction for those who dont know ben10 lore) |

Nice concept. Definitely more ambitious than you would expect from a project like this. Just hope the gameplay is a tad more involved than Fusion Fall's. |
