Panda is utter garbage for MMO's period.
I work on a MMO and we had to advise our portugeuse and Brazilian user's (for some reason Panda is really popular in those locations) against its use as its a intrusive piece of rubbish and would often overwrite unblocked ports or not allow patching or worst case scenario our anticheat measures would pick Panda up as being a potential bot its so intrusive.
I use Avira free edition and no issues whatsoever I strongly advise getting rid of Panda. |

Avast user here... no issues at all. If you have EA's patching program open by chance....with the little green icon on your windows taskbar..turn it off. Gamegaurd didn't like that in the past for me when playing other games. |

I've been playing the Chinese release and EU beta on Vista x64 with Eset's NOD32 anti-virus. No problems at all with either the game client or GameGuard. Sorry that I don't have any workarounds or other suggestions for you. Mirrim |

So your telling me that because your using Kapersky and others using it it should work fine then Explain this then...
Hey fellow beta testers! (Username can be supplied..) I'm not doing /wrist (rofl), more or less a bit of a personal choice due to Aion having trouble on two Windows installs. One with Mcafee, the other with Kaspersky 2010. <<<< Mmmm isnt that what your using? I got the Artemis Trojan warning on Mcafee, then it making me mess around with Kaspersky and pretty much disabling my AV software. That concerned me. Something I just bought brand new yesterday when my old Mcafee expired. I've been seeing a lot of iffy feelings about Game Guard's potentials as being harmful to a Windows OS. I personally run Linux, as thats where I am now, but just expressing my concerns cause I did pre-pay for the Collectors Edition to get me into Beta Testing. Honestly, I'm a bit upset with this because my Girlfriend and I are in a Long Distance atm, and we used Aion to help push aside that distance factor. We originally came from WoW with lots of End Game done, but left due to the personality of the community. When I showed her Aion on Gamespot, she was so excited. I feel bad myself for not researching, but I can only blame the packaging for not stating it used Game Guard. If the dev's decide to remove this and the Suits above realizing this problem, I'd love to come back. I'm just sad, and so is my GF about this. Please remove Game Guard from Aion retail because I see a lot of unhappy beta testers as well. Maybe we'll see each other in retail if they remove it and I'll be checking the boards and see if they go Live with GG. *Here is hoping they don't* Sincerely, -Nebkhe |

A whole different issue but personally I think any antivirus programs not flagging things like this are not doing their jobs properly. If something appears on my PC that installs iteslf quietly, hides itself from task manager and other such programs and gives itself the ability to shut down vital system components, I want to know about it. If games are infected with this sort of junk, there should be a big warning on the front of the box and in advertisements for the game so people know that they are getting additional things loaded onto their machines that they would not usually choose to have. |

I'll chime in on the GameGuard issue. This was my first Beta weekend with Aion and I am running Vista32 with AVG Free and zero issues with GameGuard. |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honsetly Caitlyn, Do you BELIEVE what you just wrote?. Many of the F2P Games are using GameGuard ... and i see hacks, bots and cheats in all of them. GameGuard does nothing except for bothering ppl. I am clearly against the use of GG. But i can live with it and i will still play Aion i currently just have a script that shuts down most ports when i start Aion. For now thats all that works for me. But i would really like to be able to PLAy aion ( with GG and have a AV program or a firewall active and running) |

Searching Google you will see tons of people having problems with gameguard. Just because a few here dont.. so. Most free2play games use gameguard for a reason lol. Gameguard is one of if not the easiest to hack. What other major MMO uses gameguard? lol theres a reason.

Everyone here seems to be either staff members of Ncsoft, with the usual @we are using XXXX and not a problem. Yet for some unknown reason the forums are littered with comments like this....
I just finished playing for tonight, and right after it shut down, I got the infamous "Blue Screen of Death" with white writing on it...I managed to catch the name of a file, which included something along the lines of "LESS_OR_EQUAL" in it, and that my computer was shutting down to prevent damage to files. I was not expecting this, and I don't have a screenshot to it. I may try again later to see if this happens again, and take a picture of it. I have heard reports of Gameguard force-restarting people's computers, and this is the first time it has happened to me. However, it also happened after, for whatever reason, it stopped requesting that I disable my User Account Control, which is ALSO after I had tried AION in Admin mode. /BeginranttoAIONPRODUCERS: AION PRODUCERS, PLEASE LISTEN TO US! GET RID OF GAMEGUARD OR FIX IT TO WHERE IT ACTUALLY DOES IT'S JOB! YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE CONSUMERS OVER THIS! I am willing to bet that MANY people on this forum have been feeling the same way after this last patch. What is it you did to it? There are more problems with it now than there were the last three times that it was ran. Some may not care what it does, and not care if it crashes their computer. I do care, considering this is a custom computer built specifically for gaming. I don't want to have to quit AION or have wasted money on this game for nothing...I hope and pray that the producers of this game do SOMETHING...this is a real, major issue for probably about 99% of the people who are Beta-ing this. /endrant All in all... FIX IT.

what i will say to others out there NOT in closed beta. Think long and hard about my next question. If one person said the world was flat would you believe him? If a million said it was flat would you belive them? Or would you believe video evidence to show its actually round? What im getting at, im one of the hundreds of players that Experienced issues running Gameguard with Aion closed beta test. Only issues i got, was Gameguard tried to modify and kill most of my AV software. Some here accused my AV for being free crap. which i laugh at. Others do the sheep, we using this XXX i havent got an issue. For them i ask, no i plead them to pop onto the forum boards, and post up in tech customer suport thread GG is working as intended. and then prepare for the flames! Before this game goes live, if you use any AV software, ensure your PC doesnt need protecting from viruses and hackers and dont use a AV software you should be fine. Im just warning the players looking at this game, is YOUR COMPUTERS SECURITY WORTH A GAME? if so post your ip address to me mailbox for hacking to commence.

GG is still criticized for being extremely invasive, often without knowledge of the end user. The software installs a device driver which is difficult to uninstall; even uninstalling the game will still leave some files hidden on the system. In recent versions (revision 1007 and up), GameGuard fails to halt when the game ends, so GameGuard continues to use computer resources and inject code into processes. This is often unknown to the end-user ....... it is Game Guard which is an intrusive piece of crap! And all the asian bot-players hack it minutes after any update - how do you think do they keep their bot networks running without any trouble to sell the stuff on ebay or through ther numerous websites. Game Guard will not install on My System not even in an isolated Bootcamp partition only used for gaming and nothing else, point.

Originally posted by jessian Ive read several posts of crusaders against "invasive progs" be it GG or DRM or whatever. The fact is ive never had any problems from any of it, at all. If GG and your AV have a conflict you are one of few. Perhaps you should see just how invasive your AV is? Its there to in theory to protect you not to controll your software options. This kind of thing is exactly why i wont use norton av i found it to be too controlling. As for free anything, you get what you pay for in life and that includes AV. |
