I guess I've heard "this n' that" from people about PvP in FFXIV. What do you all think this means? I was kind of hoping for the heavy PvE environment that FFXI was known for. |

If it has any PvP as a focus of any part of the main story, I would be extremly shocked. If it has something like balista then thats good. Thats what I am expecting. If it has no PvP I would be shocked. (but not dissapointed) Waiting for:ArcheAge |

I think it will be just some secondary thing like FFXI. |

Agreed. I don't see it being in the game aside from sme sort of mini-game arena type thing. I think this is the right way to go. |

Devs stated in an interview that there will be no PvP upon release, so if we do see PvP it will probably be long after release and highly controlled, have nothing to do with advancing or gaining anything in the game.
I love Square-Enix for this. |

If they do add PvP lets keep it simple like Ballista which you get no kind of gear for it. Let it be something to do for fun between Linkshells/Friends and Nations if they do that again. |

agreed, I never really cared for PvP, I wouldn't mind a duel option, but only if you don't loose exp or you could make bets.. |

Here is the interview and link. http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=18309 As for enemies, there will be instances where you face one at a time and others where you take on a bunch, but nothing more could really be said, as it has not been fully fleshed out at this time. Tanaka admitted the Battle System as a whole has not yet been perfected because that is something beta testers will need to take a crack at. The interviewer also brought up PKing and PvP, to which the developers responded they were considering options for the latter. They explain that while the game will involve cooperation, this does not necessarily always mean party vs. monster. Still, they say PvP will more likely take a shape similar to Final Fantasy XI, and they seem to shy away from allowing players to simply fight and kill each other anywhere, worrying it could lead to monopolization of content.

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |
