So what am I missing? Is it just that since around 2004 all of the recent MMO's have been crap and thus anything that doesnt look 3/10 suddenly jumps into everyones MMO GOTY list?

I dont get it, I think everyones being blinded by hope and marketing hype and neglecting to see this game for what it really is.. A ho-hum, run of the mill lineage2 clone.

And you clearly havent played the game. You just look ignornat now because your judging a book by its cover. The games good just let it go. Don't know why just is its fun to play they changed the formula just enough to make it good.

You're right,

If those are the only points you see then you wouldn't understand the popularity.  Here's a few of the others:

1. It is visually attractive to a lot of other people.

2. While it doesn't bring a lot of new things, it does build and perfect on the existing.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.

3. 'It's not new' itself is a good thing because it has been through real time class balance testing.

Aion is the combination of a lot of tried and true MMO systems.  Just about anyone who has played an MMO can find something they've liked about another game installed here (nostalgic in sense).  It's not all hope and marketing when you're given a chance to play it before you buy it.

Why does it matter if the graphics are poor? Thats not a good question

Same goes for adding anything new

and for the last point, its dated. This isnt a fresh vibrant world, its 2nd hand gaming at full retail price. You wouldnt pay full price for a used car I suspect?

For those 2 points people may as well dump considering this and stick with something like WoW.

your missing one valid point that sells Aion to the world and makes it more innovative than any other MMO to date.... it has WINGS ... thats right you can fly baby!

All I can say is.. This just appears to be a kids MMO following an annoying marketing principle that if you put a bow on a piece of shit, its suddenly more than just a piece of shit.

Playing wow after aion feels so toyish like your playing with toys instead of a video game aions world brings you in where as wows just looks like a giant toybox where everyone as there action figure all dressed up. Its immersive as hell and its combat is solid. Not really much more you need its easy to hate the game and generalize it on the nationality of it creators. But I believe the regardless of where people come from they can make a quality product if they work it and that happened here. Stop being a prude just play it before you bash it.

as others have stated, you've never played it and are judging on nothing but assumptions, and just trolling.

this is the first game i couldn't wait till we got it and played on korean and the chinese severs and still having alot of fun. and alot of people think wow sux and this is no comparision to WoW. honestly it feels more like an old school mmo to me, wich surprized me alot. post wow everything felt the same till aion. its not strictly a grouping game but its alot more fun to group up and do quests and better done in groups.

and you say it being 1.5 when we get its a bad thing?? you honestly haven't a clue, you do know its up to 1.5 because they want a PERFECT launch. i'm playing chinese retail right now and they're only like 1.0 or 1.1 i forget and it plays way better than most games released a year ago.

The most ignorant statement I've read in days. Generalizing is not the way to go. You haven't played all Korean games. Also a lot of people LOVE Korean games, so you shouldn't spew such nonsense.

The second most ignorant statement. Again, millions of players LOVE Lineage 1 and 2, and quite a few do in the West as well. Don't spout mere opinions and pass them as the be all end all, it only makes you look stupid.

You obviously haven't been following anything about the game, as Aion has nothing to do with L1 or L2 except the art style, but I think it will put you off since you appear to be a tad racist.

Yes it's a few months old, onoes the End of the World is at hand!

And what flowed logic, comparing cars to MMOs. MMOs get better with time, bugs get ironed out, content gets added, client gets updated etc. and Since it's only a few months old, People are actually paying less than what it's worth. I would take this over the "fresh vibrant worlds" and "1rst hand gaming" of WAR , AoC, Vanguard, D&L and the like.

I assume that means if I

The OP is spot on. For those upset by his comments, I have to wonder why. Obviously his post is opinion based. Everyone's opinion is fact to them, so stating things in that way on a forum post isn't some strange way of trying to rewrite the world. Get over yourselves if you don't like his comments.

Second, I HAVE played the game and find his comments pretty spot on, IN MY OPINION! hahahahahahahah. If anything, someone above said "try it, you might be surprised." I tried it, and I was surprised. At how boring it was. At how it WAS NOT living up to the hype it is getting.
