Doing the best I can here really.  I can't give those keys to the people that did not win the contest - they are technically FunCom's keys, not ours to give.  If they decide to give us another 1,000 keys and let the first 1,000 stay valid then that would be great and would make everyone happy.  However, since we are talking about a lot of money in prizes this might not be likely.

I will know more once I hear back from FunCom (5AM in Norway now so I have some waiting to do).

I am kinda dissappointed, but getting mad? For what? They were giving them out FOR FREE! So really its a win / win situation for the REAL winners (everyone else had a chance of winning, but you've only something to gain and not lose). The Admin made a mistake, they're still human ya know? Just be glad that this site has many contest offers. It really shouldn't be a big deal. I jsut made the thread to clarify if I was a winner. Its not a big deal, I'm moving on and so should all the other people.

When have you ever seen anything involving AoC actually work right the first time?

I would hope that Funcom fixes this and issues the correct ammount of keys.  There are very strict federal laws about offering drawings especially on the internet even if no exchange of good or services is needed to win and then not offering the items without cancelling the drawing before the termination date.  In the legal since after the drawing is done you own your prize and if not given it is theft and now it is internet fraud which is federal.

Our names aren't in the winner list though, only the 1000 real winners got a spot in it.

Apparently the 1000 winners of CitiesXL beta keys received a private message with the key and download link and that's it, as our names weren't in the winner list neither in the confirm/pending status, it's kind of tricky.

The Admin will talk to FunCom to deactivate these keys and issue new ones for the 1000 real winners, and just maybe also leave those active, but that will probably depend on the best legal options for this matter, to either leave the 1000 incorrectly sent ones or deactivate those. I guess the real winners receiving their keys is not an option in this case, so the real winners should have nothing to worry about.

Anyway, this is just my view on what's happening based on the posts.

As EricDanie stated, the members that got the erroneous email were not ever picked as winners in the AoC contest.  In fact the real winners are losing out on my mistake too because were it not for the erroneous email error they would be playing the game right now and enjoying the prize they rightfully won...but those keys are comprimised so I cannot re-issue them.

While I am deeply sorry I allowed the CitiesXL winners to receive that email with the code - please understand you did not win (or possibly even enter into) the Age of Conan contest and then had it "taken" back from you.  You just got an email that was not intended for you.

The more dissapointing  part for me is that I actually won the CityXL contest and then the next day they gave out 3000 keys for free.  No contest no nothing so what was the point of the contest.

Oh well.  Congratulations to the real winners of the Age of Conan contest.  Maybe next week it will become free for everyone :)

awesome, thanks for making it up even though you did not have to! Really bumps my respect level for mmorpg.com way up! I just hope this didn't cost you guys money or anything! Thanks to MMORPG.com and Funcom! You guys earned alot of goodwill in my book.
