Im sure you are correct i do not have a clue what its called, i just call it "Asian artstyle" and i too am used to it from playing the great console rpgs. Call it what you will the game is absolutely stunning graphically. Im still not totally sold in buying it but the art is a on the plus side of my scale. I also enjoyed the tone of my toons voice when spell casting. An Asian made game has the Asian art style, there is a reason for  it....its freaking Asian!

 

Hey, we agree on something. The customazation in Aion is unmatched as well. The models and graphics are extremely well done. The artstyle is fine.

This is doable,  make soo the default for character are designed to look westernized (different pre-sets for the western version, is a simple change, not a hugue one).    Maybe even make so the korean devs add some textures / decorators that will be used by the western guys. 

One with my problems with the game is that *all*, and with all, i mean ALL  male npc's are  efemenine.  I am not a person that say "GAY" at any oportunity, but here is real, all the males in AION looks GAY.  I don't think that can be modified, and I think is bad, if only because of the lack or variety

My character has horns a black beard and wrinkles. Try customizing your characters. Just hitting randowm, will land on Gay everytime.

Exactly how does Aion look "Anime"?  Its not drawn, not 2 dimensional, and the character designs certainly don't look anything like CLAMP's work.  Maybe you're just complaining because a different section of the world has slightly different idea of what males look like?  Image below is pretty typical for what I see for MALE pop groups in Japan/Korea.

Also, how do the females even remotely look underage in Aion?  Where do you live that the 10 year olds are six foot with that kind of breast development?

NCSoft will lose money... anyone with any knowledge of marketing and production knows you have to tailor your product to your prospective market... if you don't you product will be unpopular and not succeed.

 

Last I checked, the US population consisted of 300 million people and not just you and 10 of your friends.  Considering 300 million is an extremely large number, with all sorts of anime fans who probably only like Aion because of it's visual style, the game should bring in enough players to make it worth the effort.  Either way, it really doesn't matter to the US.  The game is created in Korea, is enjoyed by the Koreans and even if Aion failed in the United States, it really doesn't matter.  The dev team is still going to work on it and still release content for their player base that's already established in their home country.  They don't give a shit about it succeeding in America or not, they have plenty of players already.  Everything we're seeing hit state side is just the finished product being translated by NCSoft's localization team.  Big whoop.  If you don't like it, then shut the hell up and move on.

Maybe all the default looks are "efemenine" as you say but if you take the time to actually play around with the controls you can make very "manly" men. I spent 20mins playing with it and managed to make a warrior as "rugged" as the one i had in AoC.

If you dont like its artistic style there is always AoC that is manly enough for you.

Im a big collector of Anime so I like the art style. The gameplay is what will keep me subbing if its good.

I find the change refreshing to be honest.

There won't be any changes as you've requested. Every mob will still look cutzie; they are well animated at least. Mature doesn't make a game sucessful; look at AoC. Punctuation being correct has nothing to do with it; it's about ensuring the translation of what makes sense in Korea is altered to make sense for the west. If you word for word translated the game it would be very very broken english to say the least. They are doing a great job with westernizing the game.

The one of a kind PvPvE will make the game mature enough for many. Most kids never make it to max level, and if they do they don't have the stomach for challenging PvP . . . they'll be drawn back to the pointless weak battle grounds in another title.

Asians making video games when did this start? OMG... or a better question when did they start making games look "Western". When did we start playing games that were only made in the west with western programmers? I have lots of questions, but one answer. Aion's grafix don't make me feel look like I'm looking at a coloring book. I don't know how anyone call themselves a gamer without loving not only the eastern programmers, but also the eastern music writers. All westerners which is being catered to as far as I can see is the RPG aspect which comes from the old school quest chains of the OG PRGs, made by west or east we should have played them both on console and PC and loved them equally. Any other discussion on this topic is just racism. Speaking of racism I feel like playing some GTA I want to be Afro American for awhile.

If they "dont give a shit" if the game is a success in America why are they bothering to release it here at all? You are correct about one thing, the only reason i like Aion is for the art style, which i do like. However the fact that the game is very linear and pretty much a grindy gankfest infested with immature people is what has made me personally decide to pass this one by. Community does have a lot to do with the success of a game and from what ive seen here and on Aionsource, Aion has a terrible community  of immature babies that cry like little girls whenever someone finds anything wrong with their precious jewel. The fans along with the tired gameplay are whats killing this game in NA not the art style.
