The game is dying and losing subs so fast that in total desperation they're releasing this lame little patch (completely untested) and calling it an "expansion" to try and save the sinking ship.... but it won't work.

Anyone who actually pays $50 and $15 a month for this ALPHA that will be dead and cancelled before the end of the year is a total jackass."

These type of people were bombarding the servers yesterday during the launch of the free expansion. The forums were clogged with these idiots. Why would someone do this? What is the motivation? Is he just some former vaportroll moron who can't handle the fact that Darkfall launched and is doing alright for itself? What?

Motivation is that the game is a piece of crap SW, still in alpha stage of development and with a company behind it that repeteadly lie and deceive people.

I paid 50$ for it too and that pisses me of!

By what standard do you judge Darkfall as 'doing alright for itself'?

I often ask questions for mainly as way to make sure I personally understand all that is involved. I do it for the opposite reason of "rude" I do it to consider the fact that I might not in fact know all the details.

I got a monitor warning yesterday for asking a question. Specifically getting clarification on what publishers do.

To answer your question, I think the trolls go around slamming everyone as much as they can until they are the only ones left.

They've mostly already succeeded, I don't know many people at all that still play Darkfall that read general discussion anymore.

Trolls are where-ever you choose to see them and however you choose to define them.

If you go around branding anyone that disagrees with you as a troll then they will begin to act like trolls.  It is my opinion that the majority of the ant-DF hysteria arose out of the 'your game sux, DF > your game. DF iz not4j00' trolling that took place on many of the other game forums...WoW, WAR, AoC etc, all those boards were hit.

That may not be the fault of the current crop of supporters but its kind of inevitable when DF disappointed so many people on release...there was always going to be a backlash.

Perhaps if you all exhibited a bit of restraint in your responses rather than the usual finger-pointing reactionism, the real trolls would fade away...they do, after all, thrive on drama and all you're doing is feeding them.

I don't think the blame for that can be laid entirely at the door of the forum trolls.  The DF community is rife with asshattery, combine that with the much publicised exploiting, hacking and noobie-ganking and that is at least as much to blame, probably even more so.

Most trolls,( I call them aholes) are just disturbed boys who got killed once too many times in dark fall, or they whine and complain, is DFO feature complete no? are they working hard on it? yes, are you a true retard if you think a indie company designing a engine and a game and their first by themselves will have a perfect launch or can afford perfect testing? yes.

These are the main questions, most people on the forums back in the day knew this, and when sites like mmorpg and other review mmorpg sites got involved they were unaware of the background of the game and the devs.

So yes I am sure they are upset, but this is why dfo did not offiicially launch IMO, but they are trying too, this expansion helped, but it still needs balance, and NA-1 by the time new characters start to get up high characters and feel the unchanged problems(if lots more exist(am at work so didnt try the expansion)) or when transfers from EU to NA come, then yes I am sure this game will be in launch state.

I mean if you didnt know signus, this site is for critics, and they get off on hating on a game like fat boys with cake.

Are you seriously saying that I mislabelled someone who "disagreed with me" as a troll? When all he did was, make an account, spam porn and virus links everywhere, while mindlessly bashing the game and sending PMs to anyone who didn't read his threads? That's just someone who disagrees with me?

By the way i do think sean is a fanboy, I love darkfall but I KNOW there is a problem with sheep leaving it, and I know the lack of skill cap and the heavy grind caters to the wrong type of community, and I am not quite sure how good PVE has changed, but for the most part seems like most  easy-kinda hard mobs got fixed and some hard ones.

They are trying to add more reasons to go out in the open, I heard and been confirmed by a few ppl in game, SKILL goes UP Faster!!! when PVE'ing this alone was worth the wait for the expansion.

Now if it does help a lot like they said,(skilling up off of pve) all they need is a set active skill hard cap that you are allow to reset every day by talking to a NPC or something.

I dont quest but the title quests sounds cool and a challenge, and gives you benefits of not being red,

Maybe they are adding more racial war scenarios.

I think they need to add lots more and polish, but the progress as I said before is continueing to keep me playing and is giving me hope that this game is going to survive for a logn time.

MO is my back up plan, but that game looks like a week old game if you call dfo a alpha game.

I think he was joking when he said that, but I'm going to comment on your first thing.

Why indeed? They did though. 

Funcom launched a viral compaign to discredit Darkfall back in 2006-7, posting on every blog and forum that it was vaporware. They tried to do it on the Darkfall forums, but the IP got tracked to Funcom HQ and they had to make a public apology. But that was basically the first step that attacted so many vaportrolls that still harry the game today.
