I checked on their help section on their website but cant find anything.
Short of me calling my credit card company is there an easier way to cancel this game? It's nice but frankly i dont need another WoW.
Thanks for the help, if any.

Assuming you pre-ordered online... And also assuming most all places do not bill to the item is shipped. As is the case with Gamestop / EbGames / Amazon, etc. I only visit the forums to ride the "Hype-to-Hate" roller coaster of every new title. |

If you ordered from Gamestop online you can not cancel once you get your beta key, so you will need to call your credit card company. If you ordered in the store you just lost 5 dollars but you don't need to pick it up. I am sorry you think it is just another WoW, even though I know first impressions are a big deal, its a shame that people judge a game on the first 10 levels. |

Sorry i should have been more clear. I went to NCSoft website and purchased the preorder there from their website. The only thing i can cancel is the monthly fee. I havent checked my statement yet to see if they billed me. |

I've cancelled a few preorders after getting a key. There's nothing they can do if you want to cancel it. Withholding the ability to get your money back is a pretty legit reason for a law suit. As for preordering from NCSoft themselves, I'm pretty sure they have a contact number that you'll have to call. Never done business through their site, though, so not sure. |

Regardless of whether it was a pre-order or a pre-purchase, I thought pre-orders are not refundable as well. You have the option to switch your money to other games, but do you have the options to get your money back once you committed them to a pre-order? |

If you do it online, cancelling a preorder just cancels the order. There was never a charge to the credit card, so there is no money for them to give back to you. They cannot legally hold your money ransom, unless it is stated in tiny print that you won't get a refund (which you can still get a refund if you argue with customer service for it). I preordered Age of Conan and cancelled after playing the beta I was givin because I wasn't interested after trying it out. I cancelled my preorder and never received the package / never got my credit card charged. Plus on the site there is a large button that says CANCEL PREORDER. I use GameStop.com for this reason, since I know my money is safe. |

Stop comparing every single game in market to WOW. SERIOUSLY!!! WOW wasn't the first MMO. |

Maybe next time wait on an actual trial instead of using the beta as a free trial. EB/Gamestop and the NCsoft will not let you get a refund after the key is issued. Next time read the fine print. |

When I log into my account there, I don't see the option to cancel it either. |

If you buy it off NCSoft's store it says blatantly 'no returns or refunds'. It is a pre purchase there where you pay in full. |

I wonder if like me, you have been searching everywhere for some kind of mmo savior- trying every mmo you even see mentioned on even the most obscure of forums... being let down over and over- I feel I set myself up for dissapointment. It's to the point where I will install an mmo, and write it off as terrible before actually experiencing what it has to offer... I am not usually this way, but after having truly tried so many, and been let down by so many it is starting to just feel natural. I hope this is not what you are doing with Aion- from what I read, a good number of people seem to harp on its expansiveness Lv 20+
As per the canceling... if you just ordered it to try it out and assumed you could just cancel it and not pay- I would not blame you. In our society it has become standard to return anything you are dissatisfied with at no cost to the consumer, maybe only a little time. When it comes to the entertainment industry though- its value is its time sink. Even though it may not be the game of your dreams it did intrigue or entertain you for a time, whether it be full release or not. If you can't cancel it I wouldn't blame them. You have to realise the business that they are in... and while it is catering to their consumers- it is not to incur losses to do so.
Just my opinion- good luck. ALL YOUR PLAYER BASE ARE BELONG TO KITTY! |

If you bought it off the NC store then there is no refund, the only way to get a refund is if you phone them and they agree to cancel your pre-purchase, doing a charge back with your credit card company or just blocking payment without consent from NCSoft can make you liable for fraud.

well it does clearly state that there are no refunds or returns before your purchase,I would have thought alarm bells would have went off when you had to set up your subscription,no other beta/pre-order has you doing this. It would seem you rushed through it without reading properly, more than likely as you wanted to get into the last beta or the beta before and the NCsoft d/l was the quickest and easiest, also the fact they not only sent you your key for beta events but all the keys you will need for the game come release,I am sure you also added the keys through the automatic choice from your NCsoft account. You will have to take this on the chin and learn from it,even if you cancel it through your credit card company NCsoft has every right to the money as you were warned before you bought the game,so dont be to suprised if you do cancel it that its not the last you hear on the subject. Then again maybe now that you have the game you will give it more of a chance and who knows you may even enjoy it as much as me :P |

If this is truly as black and white as others say, and you *do* dispute the charge with your card company and get a refund, don't expect to ever sub to an NCSoft game again. A CC dispute is an effective way to get your money back when merchants outright cheat you/fail to render services as promised, but if you willingly bought from them and there was clear notification that it was a no refund deal, then I'd think long and hard before you dispute. There's no guarantee that things will go your way even, and imho a high chance that they won't. Plus, even if you win the dispute, don't ever expect NCSoft to let you sub to one of their games again (but, for some ppl that's no great loss). So, it appears your best option is to chalk this up to experience and realize that you just got a relatively CHEAP! lesson to ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT, and if there isn't any, then it's on *YOU* to take the initiative to find out what the vendor's policies are should you find yourself less than satisfied. Oh, and it's a bit callous, but just be happy you didn't learn all of this the way most people do: blindly signing up to pay through the nose on some car loan/mortgage/etc. from a loan shark, sometimes an obligation or bad practice that stretches out over their entire life. You're getting a really important lesson at minimal cost. Just make sure you learn from it, and you'll be able to feel okay with this mistake and not bitter about it, believe it or not. |
