www.massively.com/2009/07/07/age-of-conan-to-unveil-new-expansion-at-gamescom/ Funcom's Erling Ellingsen confirmed the news: "Yes, we will be revealing the first expansion for Age of Conan at the GamesCom show in August. We have lots of exciting stuff to reveal and Conan players and gamers in general are in for a real treat, but for now, our lips are sealed until then!" |

This is good news for AoC players. It will be well received especially after they tweak 1.05x and add all the enhanced 1.06 features which *should* give people a lot more to do end game and while leveling. One thing AoC has been struggling with is primitive guild control and no alliances / factions. People enjoy FFA but they want some control over it so they don't randomly hit players in their NAP. I think 1.06 will give AoC some more functionality in that department.
The Expansion is suppose to be centered around Asia I believe ?

One thing in the initial stages was that they were toying with a very high level cap or none at all at one point. I wouldn't mind seeing a few of these with an expansion;

Let's see the expansion was announced a few weeks after launch, than again a few months after that, and this post seems to be announcing the link to an announcement of the future announcement. Seems like any time FunCom is desperate for attention to AoC they say "Lookie! Lookie! Were announcing an Expansion!!" I am guessing in August they will be announcing a long wait, one that will most likely be pushed back 'till it's ready'. Without an Internal QA staff subscribers maybe playing it for free on Test Live for half a year or more. With anything gaming you can always expect Hype, but crying wolf every few months tends to turn hype into white noise. |

I hope they fix the gross caster / melee imbalance by then. |

It is only upsetting it you let the announcements upset you. Reading your post seems like this pains you, or anything to do with FC / AoC in the public eye. Maybe it is just me /shrug I would weigh in since the release of 1.05 people have been asking left and right about the expansion and about the vet trial and about the Xbox 360. Majority of these questions are asked by the press. With E3 just gone people were tweeting Sil, posting on the forums asking if they will be there, as well as upcoming events this year. TSW will have devs at DragonCon next time round announced today too. I am not upset that they keep tabs on informing those interested as time goes on for one. I suspect that they said this today as there will be two online interviews coming out soon from IGN and Gamespot which will have this info in.

So if they add new classes what do some of you think they will be? I can't think of any in the Conan lore other than a pirate, but I don't know how that would play out in AoC very well. Anyone with some guesses?

I think they will create one at least from scratch. The HoX and the Demo are pretty unique classes. I think another Rogue and maybe another mage type. For reference too only picture released for it as concept art:

I have seen that picture before. I can't wait till August. They should tease out some images till the official announcement. .. .... .- - . - .-. --- .-.. .-.. ... .-- .... --- .-. . .--. --- .-. - .-.-.- |

My main concer as of now is getting class balance sorted out. I love this game for the pvp. I like the pve too, but mostly as a mood setting for good ol' rp-pvp.
That said, I don't mind an expansion. I hope they will open op some big-spaced pvp-areas as a part of that.

There track record says High Seas and Heavy Winds with an expansion its been well over a year from release and there are still problems with the original game. I think there are enough folks who finally understand that Funcom does not release a finished product or with everything they hype in it. I for one will not be paying for there beta testing of an expansion. |

This is how I see it. Expansion are a double edged weapons. In one side, you are making some kind of relaunch giving players something shinny and new. So loyal fan base will probably give you an income. But in the other side, people not so happy with the game will probably not buy it. And some of them may eventually leave because they dont have all the content. They are asked to go places they cant, they see stuff they cant have. Seeing how badly AoC player base is, I see it as a bad move. It's just my opinion, but they should release this content for free. I know they need the money, but they screwed people a lot and as soon as they start doing things right, they ask for money again. But is a matter of opinion, of course. -=AlaKraM=- |

Nice, more goodness for Aoc, and some thought that Funcom had financial problems and that the game will die hehe. Well it time to eat words. My server Crom (EU) is full with players, patch 1.05 is all good and with an expansion in the works there is much rejoicing for the AoC massive! |
