This game reeks of LOTRO because LOTRO took a sure fire IP and only used it to deliver a highly polished yet very shallow experience modeled off WoW, trying to emulate and even break the marketshare of WoW. SWTOR has absolutely no hope in hell of being anything than a watered down shallow quest grinder. It won't feel like a world at all, like SWG did prior to NGE. Instead it will feel like an amusement park focused around shallow combat with shallow quests, in a bubblewrap world of disconnected instances, and capture the flag PvP.
WAR also proved to use that as far as MMOs go, the quality of your prerendered cinematics is inversely proportional to the suckatude of your actual game and it's poor in-game graphics. |

sarcasm Oh wow! Unfounded opinions stated like facts! I've NEVER EVER SEEN THAT BEFORE! You must have worked on the game to know all this because half of what you write contradicts what we've been told by the developers, and the other half sounds like conjecture and opinions based off of a completly different game title made by a completly different company! But that simply can't be true because you KNOW ALL TEH FACTZORZ. All this and a proven mathematical equation describing how "the quality of your prerendered cinematics is inversely proportional to the suckatude of your actual game and it's poor in-game graphics" is simply the work of an artist and a genius. /sarcasm |

LOTRO was an average game. BioWare are very different to Turbine. Your feelings are not logical. |

Oh noes! Another disgruntled anti-SWG cultist who shots from the hip as soon as someone mentions SWG. Try reading before you post. You might be suprised - perhaps even learn a thing or two. Keyword in Trenchgun's post: world. M M O S S I N C E |1998| |

I am going to post a quote here I feel applies to every game - mmo or single player: You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. I happen to like LOTRO, but I can see why Star Wars Fans would not like that approach - too much difference in story flow for one thing. I also like games like EVE where story flow isn't a big part of the game. What YOU like in a game is not always what I like in a game. Sometimes we can agree on certain aspects but not others, sometimes we cannot agree at all. Having said that I find it somewhat dumb to criticize the game play of a game you have not, as of yet, played. I have beta tested and found that the finished game does not always resemble the game that is sold. Until the game comes out it is really kind of hard to criticize it, well not hard apparently since so many posters do just that, but for me it is. When I do not like a game I stop playing it. I do not go on to forums and trash the game because it did not appeal to me. I do not like Wow but I do not remember ever trashing it in a forum, it just doesn't appeal to me - that does not make it a good or bad game, just one I do not like. Now as far as ToR is concerned - I may or may not play it, that depends on a variety of things. As of right now I have no opinion on the game play, I have not played it so according to my personal rules I cannot have an opinion on it. From what I have read on it - there are some interesting and some non-interesting aspects. I fear it might be a lot like Star Wars Galaxies - which I did not like. I am not saying that Galaxies was a bad game - I just did not like it. Whenever you hear from some one that a game is bad - released or not - keep in mine the quote I posted above. Just because they didn't like it doesn't mean you won't.
