And every day, I thank whatever higher power that exists out there that America dodged that particular bullet.

Obama's far from perfect, but he's a damn sight better than having her as VP would've been. Could you imagine if McCain had gotten elected and she'd pulled this same stunt on Friday? It would have been insane.

I just think of the patriots about to pay top dollar to hear her make speeches when she hits the continental U.S. in a few weeks, lol.

Can you imagine paying twenty dollars of your hard earned money to hear her? It'd be like paying good money to hear the lady at the local supermarket speak.

As far as her resignation goes, if she's not going to run a second term, then she should pass the remainder of her term to Parnell so that he can follow up as the incumbent for the next election - it's a common practice in Canadian politics.  It also seems like she's getting out before she's publicly shown in the media as having limited political power as Alaska's Governor.

She needs to be seen as a federal level politician and get into as much international politics as she can handle, her second biggest fault in 2008, so the sane move would be for her to skip the presidency for the 2012 election but take the senate seat away from that democrat: http://begich.senate.gov/public/  Then run in the following election.

Unless she fades away, one thing is for sure, it'll be great television.

Anyone can attend and graduate Yale if their parents donate enough money to the college. He was born into his caste and everything was handed to him because of it.

Actually, the more I think about it, I think she resigned simply because of the attacks against her family. The left's constant attack against her children was far below the belt. This gives her time to cement her position as a conservative leader while taking care of her children. Her children will be old enough in 2012 or 2016 to allow her to spend more time in politics.

Obama's term isn't even one year old and his approval ratings are already starting to tank. Right now, he'll be lucky to win a second term with all his tax increases. This will certainly destroy his chances.

Sue me. I like poking fun at politicians. :)

Especially ones who are dishonest. Palin also tried to get McCain's campaign to lie about her husband Todd's secessionist ties and they said no, which was part of the problem between the camps.

She's a sham plain and simple, and only a half-wit couldn't see through the scams she was pulling.

People confuse her popularity with the Republican party with her popularity with the average voter.

There is simply no way the average voter will accept someone running for anything after they've already quit one of the most powerful American political jobs there is because they were getting "picked on". In America, this type of thing simply doesn't fly.

Your premise that she run against someone in the state she just abandoned isn't sound, because Alaskans will be reminded that she simply quit on them, and voting for her in any capacity other than entertainment purposes will be a waste.

Americans don't like quitters; win/lose/draw we expect people to uphold their obligations to what they swear to over a Bible and before God. She broke her promise to Alaskans and to God.

Palin quit because she couldn't hack the public exposure...plain and simple. There is no grand master plan with her. Her plan is the Indiana Jones plan....making up as she goes and she ain't no Indy! Just like Bush, her own party is starting to shy away from her or even wonder if she is up to the task of dealing with the scrutiny that comes with being on the national political stage. And don't give us any of the "liberal bias" BS because politics is a down-and-dirty business and both sides of the political arena are guilty of hitting below the belt. If Palin couldn't take the heat then she was right to get out of the kitchen. Her political future, especially with the GOP is in serious doubt. I don't think they want her anymore. she is reckless and erractic and they know that someone like her is the last thing the party needs. Maybe the libertarians will have her.

Gone down some. Sure. Tanked? Look up George W. Bush for tanked. Considering that Obama had to clean up the mess that was left, a mess I might add left by the previous administration who shall remained unnamed, to him was bound to lead to some unpopular choices. We in this country and all over the world dug ourselves  a very, very deep hole and it's gonna cost us to fill back up again. With those unpleasant fact to deal with anyone's popularity would wane some. For now you're just having another wishful thinking moment.

Don't worry. She will be back on attack with Hasselbeck in '012 fighting "insert grumpy old fart" for the republican nomination.

For this reason alone, she should never be considered for public office ever again. She more suited for a talk show or a radio show where she can craft and control the messages people are saying about her. She can handpick her own guests and make sure like Huckabee they fawn and are going to give predictable praise.

If a woman can't stand someone picking on her kids as governor, I have no idea why any sane citizen of the United States would think that same woman is fit material for even HIGHER office as a senator, vice-president or even president.

Cutting and running is not something that is looked upon with favor by Americans.

I feel a wee bit better that other people didn't understand her speech.  I must have listened to it ten times repeated over the course of the day and tried to force it to make sense every time but to no avail.  I was beginning to think I was suffering from extreme early onset Alzheimers.

Exactly.

If she's so thin-skinned that she couldn't handle the media scrutiny she was under now, there's no way in hell she's suited for the Presidency, since that office carries much, much higher media interest, and not just here in America.

What would she do the first time that papers here in the States and around the world pick apart any decision she makes, or if they talk about her husband or kids? Would she call another rambling, incoherent press conference, this time at the White House, as she announces her resignation? If she can't cope with being in the spotlight now, the Presidency is out of her league.

Which makes the whole idea of her as a national political figure that much more hilarious. If she can't even handle running Alaska due to media scrutiny, how could she ever be expected to run the country considering how much more scrutiny the President is under just by virtue of the job itself? If the media scrutiny is why she quit, then she's just proven that even beyond her limited education and supreme ignorance on a variety of issues, she's disqualified immediately from the White House. Anyone that weak and fragile should just walk away from politics altogether and go back to private life.

She quit to avoid being seen as a lame duck - she said so herself.  Basically she said she didn't want to collect a paycheck for doing nothing which i believe Americans hate more than quitters?  You can try to spin it all you want but she'll just be able to turn it around and make herself look like she has integrity.

She didn't abandon the state - she left it in very good hands and if he gets re-elected that arguement too will be easily defeated.

America accepts people quitting to seek a higher position or betterment all the time.  From sports to entertainment to politics.

I'm surprised you don't want her to run for president - as a foreign national and even though it's against your constitution I think even I'd have a good chance to beat her in a presidential election - she's a "wack job"

Which is a pathetic excuse by any standard, especially if she was planning on running for President. You don't quit your one major elected office halfway through your first term, then try to claim a higher calling, or that you deserve to serve in a higher capacity.

She didn't abandon the state - she left it in very good hands and if he gets re-elected that arguement too will be easily defeated.

Uh, no. She cut and run from an office that she can't handle and for the most dubious of reasons. She abandoned her state, no question about it.

America accepts people quitting to seek a higher position or betterment all the time.  From sports to entertainment to politics.

Not when they have time to go in their current elected office,  they don't.

Neither Obama nor McCain quit the Senate to run for President. They even managed to get back to Washington D.C. for key votes during the campaign, and were even EXPECTED to do so by the press with both men getting criticized if they missed something important in order to do a campaign event. Bill Clinton still served as Governor of Arkansas while running for President in 1992. Hell, even George W. Bush, for all his mind-blowing idiocy, managed to stay in office here in Texas through the entire 2000 presidential campaign and didn't resign until the election was settled once and for all.

The fact that Sarah Palin can't even finish out her first term as Governor says more about her than anything else. She's a pathetic quitter who doesn't deserve higher office. Anyone who cuts and runs like she has, and for the dumbest of reasons, has no business in the White House. If she can't handle the stress at the state level, or wants to throw out some bullshit "I don't want to be a lame duck" excuse now, then she can't be trusted to keep to any commitment to serve as President.

Do you think that Mcain or Obama was doing their state a service by running for president while being a senator?  No.  In all rights, they should have quit the senate gig in order to pursue a higher office.  It's a BS argument that people should be allowed to keep their seats when running for higher office.  You can't do both effectivly so they are cheating their constiuents.
