Originally posted by Zindaihas I like Mike Huckabee. And don't forget, I'm about as Liberal as they come. Mitt Romney seems like an ok guy too, no one really has anything bad to say about him. If Romney or Huckabee were to become President, it wouldn't bother me at all. Now Palin on the other hand, I can't stand her. Everything about her turns me off - her speaking habits, her beliefs, everything. I'm not going to sit here and call her a moron or anything, but she really rubs me the wrong way. It has nothing to do with "fearing" her because honestly, having a Republican President doesn't bother me. It all depends on the person. McCain - Great guy, wouldn't have minded him being President Palin - Nightmare (imho) Bush - Meh Romney - Would be ok Huckabee - I like the guy Which Democratic Presidents or Presidential candidates do the Conservatives like? I'm just curious because you never really hear things like that. Come to think of it, I can't remember any Conservative saying they liked any Democrat....ever. |

She's dragging out her 15 minutes, but there's no way in hell she can keep her momentum going for the next 3 years, especially after quitting her one elected office halfway through her first term.
Nope. Passers by of a car wreck watch it from a distance. They don't get out of their cars and throw salt into the wounds of the victims. That's what Palin's critics are trying to do. They are trying to beat her down and pummel her into submission. Now I have no problem with people being critics of her policies, but the personal attacks on her and her children are excessive. And if you think the attention she garners is merely 15 minutes of fame, I would counter with a prediction made by one of your liberal brethen on this forum. A prediction that as soon as the 2008 election was over, Palin would drop off the face of the earth and never be heard from again; much as Jim Messina of Loggins & Messina and Phillip Michael Thomas of Miami Vice did. Well here we are 9 months later and she is more in the spotlight than ever. The only way she disappears is if she tries too. And even then, she might not be able to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tK6YIAX1jg |

People don't spit hate at car wrecks. People don't make fun of car wrecks. People don't work hard to destroy the victims of car wrecks. Nah. a whole different dynamic is at work here. |

She's a demonstrable idiot who is wholly unqualified for any higher office at all outside of Alaska, and even then, she couldn't hack it and quit halfway through her first term in office. She actually caused my otherwise reliably conservative/Republican, Fox News watching relatives and friends to either vote Democratic or Libertarian or just stay home for the first times in their lives back in November because they would rather have taken any of those bitter pills rather than risk McCain dying or becoming incapacitated in office and leaving her in charge. That says far more about her as a candidate, at least to me, than anything any of her supporters could ever say to try and convince me that she has a chance of winning in 2012. |

She's going to do a book tour. Then she will do fund raising speaches for Congressional candidates in 2010, then she will run for president in 2012. She can stand on her own two feet. Those 15 ethics charges in 2.5 years were fought off with nothing sticking except for a $500K legal bill. She kicked Letterman and girly man Matt Laur's ass concerning the Letterman comments. She's got bigger fish to fry than Alaska governor and the libs are afraid, very afraid. Their plan was to keep cheap shotting her in the media which I assume will continue and have the local dems file an ethics complaint against her every time she leaves the state. Her opposition is upset because she changed the game. |

Karl Rove has already commented that her resignation made her a non-entity in the Republican Party. When Romney and Huckabee tick off their list of accomplishments, do you really think Sarah Palin will shine when she says she once served a partial term as Governor of Alaska? Or, as conservatives, are you advocating Affirmative Action, throwing out the test questions because the lesser qualified minority candidate (a female) can't compete with the better qualified white male candidates?

Again, would someone please list these attacks on her family by the "liberal media". |

I don't even see a remotely similar dynamic. You seem to genuinely despise her, for taking all this time to spit your bile at her. I can't imagine you doing the same thing over a car wreck. Sorry, I call BS. She seems to actually threaten you, and you are attacking her -- that is the dynamic I am seeing.

Apparently these guys seem to think that if they keep saying liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin, it makes it true.
Which is why conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016. Conservatives are afraid of all democrats in 2016.
There, it must be a fact now. |

I agree. The "republicans" knee-jerked her into pre-election for the celebrity shock value. It all ended when she opened her mouth. She acts like people aren't supposed to say anything about the stupid stuff she's saying but when someone says something stupid multiple times, people start talking about it. Even if its not to make fun of her. Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

Yes. You, Outfctrl, Sargoth, campaigns to remove social security and welfare, etc.
None of those are threats to me. |

Wow. Thanks for revealing your true colors. At least we know that you simply like attacking people for the sake of attacking them. Amazing that you even admit it. |

So by your logic, you believe I am a threat to you. You attack me all the time. Now I feel special. |

I have never attacked you. I disagree passionately with your ideas, but I never go after you as a person. I alsways assume you have your own reasons for advocating the terrible thngs you advocate, which is why I always try and get you to explain yourself. In response, you attack the person disagreeing with your ideas. You yourself have just admitted this right here. Anyway, if I have ever attacked you, and not your ideas or statements, please provide some evidence. If I have ever attacked you and NOT your ideas, I humbly apologize, because I don't believe in attacking people, but their ideas. Anyway, let's see what you think is an example of such attacks. |

Originally posted by Fishermage I always love armchair psychoanalysis by perfect strangers on the internet. It's funny. She's not a threat to me. At all. If anything, she's an insult. There are plenty of smart, dynamic, educated, qualified Republican women out there that McCain could have chosen as his running mate if he genuinely wanted a woman VP instead of just a desperate move to knock Obama off the front page after his convention speech. However, he and his campaign decided that any pair of tits would do instead, and they saddled this country with Sarah Palin. Her lack of education, her lack of any grasp of policy or the issues to the point where she was totally shielded by the campaign because they KNEW she was an idiot, and her blatant and transparent selection in order to try and appeal to disgruntled Hillary supporters in the mistaken idea that women vote as a hive vagina for anyone in a dress was a total insult to the women who've come before her, working hard and showing that women can be just as capable and smart as men in politics. Had McCain gone with a much more substantive, qualified woman instead, I might have been persuaded to give serious thought towards voting for him, but my standards are a bit higher than what he and his campaign thought they were. There's a reason McCain's campaign began seriously faltering and became increasingly desperate when the financial meltdown hit. Reasonable people looked at her and realized that there was no way in hell that they wanted to risk any scenario where she'd end up in power. There's no way in hell that all but the most blinkered partisans will be persuaded that she's ready for power in 2012, especially after quitting her job the way she did. She's going to have to improve by several orders of magnitude and the chances of that happening are pretty much nil. |

Oh yes, how could I forget. You are a beacon of rational discussion and morality. After all, you like to remind everyone of that everytime they disagree with you.
I think you're nit-picking the word "attack". If I call Palin a dumb ass am I attacking the person or the ideas that she has? Both, a person is defined by their ideas. Don't even try to paint me as someone who goes around calling people fat or ugly when they disagree with my view on an issue. That itself is an attack against me. |
